  • “The one criterion really missing to warrant a diagnosis is that his symptoms are not really interfering with his life. [...] He has managed to adapt to OUR WORLD.” = condescending BS from a scientist who should know better. Has Baron-Cohen considered that the algorithms running on this particular hardware (Daniel’s brain) are more fine-tuned to beautiful problems (math, languages) relevant to the modern world than those of others? That he may be ahead of the curve?

    Different=broken. Pathetic.

  • @MiddleOfNowhere101 Come on.. He obviously thinks the kid is amazing. "Our" does not necessarilly exclude daniel, think about that. And no one's talking about anything being broken either. Only that his brain is not functioning like a normal brain. And that is indisputable. They're just trying to understand why.

  • loved how he explained number six because if you do put 666 together then it is like a black hole..just intresting stuff ..amaizng brain!

  • you can see how PISSED OFF his mom is when shes talking about the crying :P

  • interesting!

  • i feel like an idiot after watching this!

  • i would love to know what number i am

  • @jiopez9090 1 I agree but number 2 our world results in everybody including him and he was trying to us correct grammar also if he did mean that he's not part of our world it's because everyone has there own world that they live in meaning no one person sees the same way

  • why would "having lack of abilitly to understand other peoples feelings" have ANYTHING to do with social skills???? It´s just a cliche and a truism. There´s no real truth to that claim. One might understand other people very well and still have terrible social skills.

  • 2 things i hate. 1.) that they tried to find something wrong with him. um he doesnt have a problem socially he just has one of the most powerful brains in the world...no shit he wasnt the most popular. while steve and joe were impressing girls, this kid was dividing by 0. leave him alone. and 2.) that the therapist said, "hes somehow adapted to our world"...what an ego-centric fuck. its his world too, its everyones world and no ones world. get off you high horse

  • @jlopez9090 I agree.

  • @jlopez9090 you obviously dont understand how hard it would be to be autistic...

  • @jlopez9090 I found the statement about adapting to our world a bit strange too,but I decided to just simply understand what was meant by it.As for trying to find something wrong, that's because usually when someone has incredible abilities like his, there is some kind of a bad tradeoff.I can see why any good scientist would want to see if he had some.In many ways the scientific community seemed pleased with the fact that he doesn't have any side effects, because he can communicate.

  • @jlopez9090 dividing by 0 is infinity. I don't think he spent that much time on that one.

  • @jlopez9090 being different doesnt have to be a bad thing

  • @jlopez9090 well actually, by definition he does have a medical condition. He has aspergers and he himself said that it was a downside of being a savant. No he doesn't have anything severely wrong with him, but that doesn't mean there is no other side to that condition

  • @5:10

  • i kew someone who said he saw the world and everything as code of numbers we knicknamed him matrix man, ....... its amazign how plastic the brain is

  • That was a cute baby!!

  • 6 is the hardest for him cause his never had it, u get it?

  • @DevotiHNS Sex you mean? He's gay..

  • @DevotiHNS no

  • @DevotiHNS You are the bizzaro Daniel Tammet. While he is possibly the smartest person alive, you are possibly the dumbest.

  • fibonacci!

  • It takes me 4 mins to do that question. with a calculator!

  • # 6 is th hardest? interesting, he is 1 of six siblings!

  • this guy makes albert einstein look like a dumbass.

  • @valen0111 How? Einstein didn't just do long division in his head, you novice.

  • Aww... Crying Baby... Doing It So Loud.

  • If anyone's interested in synesthesia, I read a great realistic fiction book about a girl with it. It's called A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass.

  • 15 people watched this upside down...

  • Vinnys stop spouting meaningless shit.

  • the psychs cousin is Ali G!! AKA Borat

  • Comment removed

  • its called aspergers syndrom

  • @MrBobbyhood

Sigh. No. I have aspergers and I'm nowhere near that. It may be related to some form of autistic disorder, yes, but if you had watched part 1/5 you would've seen that his skills all came after a series of epilepsy-induced seizures.

  • Comment removed

  • He can hear colors and see sounds? are you sure hes not an acid junkie? lmao

  • @evilresidence4 He's not a junkie, it's a condition called synesthesia where one sense evokes another. Google it, it's fascinating.

  • @Noomie90 I just found out i have that! I also have aspergers, I can play piano by ear and compose my own music and have close to purfect pitch even though I dont understand theory, I can also draw realistic faces without lessons. I connect numbers with colors, sounds, tastes, personalities etc. For example the number 4 is hot pink and has a sweet smell, 6 is purple, 5 is green, 3 is blue, 7 is red etc. I thought everyone made these connections but they dont.

  • @souljaboiification I'm glad you found out! I have grapheme -> colour and a bit of music -> vision. I too thought it was the norm to make such connections until a few years ago when I discovered Syn.

  • ahhh man, fuck i would wanna fucking shoot myself if i saw that many numbers...

  • 7:00 lol

  • 1=All that is, the creator (explains the white light or experience he has)

2=The "dios" or the light/dark good/bad paradigm (explains the pulling in different directions sensation or drifting)

    (I wish they didn't skip 3, that's very important!)

6=Saturn's day or Saturday (6th day, 6th planet) This explains the black hole or death. Saturnalia cult or Satan. He finds it difficult to experience because we are pure love, we are the light, not the dark.

    9=Tallest or highest (bcause 10=everything)

  • @vinnys025 what's number 7? :D soo interesting yet its seems like a load of bs sometimes :O but im curious O.O<< me

  • I cried so hard when I imagine when he was a kid and crying. sometimes if you have such unique visionary ablitity it really does disconnect you.

  • he sees 1 as a bright light..which is there is only one god :)

  • Simon is Sacha's cousin. I'm not making this up, check Sacha's Wikipedia page for yourself.

  • What a great sound track to use.

  • So 69 is a midget and giant sucking each over off? :)

  • Is the psychologist his father?? He is a splitting image lol

  • @KDN888 don't you mean spitting image

  • Comment removed

  • its like a gigantic peg and/or loci system that he seems to use naturaly.

(look it up. it will save your life if u are crap at remembering numbers or even remembering everyday stuff like shopping lists)

with the loci system, i can now remember up to around 30 random words, in order and hold them in my mind for as long as i need to. where as before i would be lucky to remember 5 or 6 (my memory was terrible).

it's great for remembering shopping lists and everyday things we take for granted.

  • in 5:47 whata fuck was that xD any wey he very good at painting

  • the interviewer looks like daniel

  • I'm confused, at 8:37, doesn't he mean that he might hear a color or see a sound?

  • he's not only a math genius. he's also a grammar and language genius.

  • Does he uses his talent for something more profitable than what we saw ?

  • holy shit, some of this stuff really reminds me of the time i did shrooms

  • I was like the number guy til I was like 7.

  • i experience number 2 differently than he does.... :P

  • Just for the benefit of anyone asking, Simon Baron-Cohen IS related to Sacha Baron Cohen: they're cousins.

  • @Veron451 lol i really wanted to break the news!

  • @Veron451 So, one Cohen is a professor, and the other a comedian. Flexible family :)

  • @select899 it all goes together :)

  • @Veron451 it's himself disguised. You didn't notice that? :D

  • @Veron451 yep, it's also worth noting that Sacha Baron Cohen went to Christ's College Cambridge, one of the most prestigious colleges in one of the most prestigious universities in the world- and he depicts complete idiots in all his acting XD

  • OMG I hate the therapist guy's voice. He enunciates every word that ends/ begins with S its this high pitched annoying water boiling in a kettle sound. Just thought ya'll should know....

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla

yeah it really does sound like a kettle of boiling water. how funny.

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla its because he is the rapist, not a therapist

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla u just ruined the whole video!! :(

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla Bugger, I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Sounds like he is whistling out his nose.

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla

yeah I want to slap him

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla hahhahhah

  • Comment removed

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla

    That's a whistle.

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla he's a world renowned psychiatric researcher and professor, not a therapist guy

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla about a speech impedement that is no differnet really to having a lisp or other vocal slur.

  • Comment removed

  • @KylaKyla12Kyla He is a jew. What did you expect? Jews are known for their nasally, whiny annoying voices.

  • @flicker0546 part one was featured in a popular online article, with no link to part 2.

  • Prof. Simon Baren-Cohen.

    any relation to Sacha?

  • @ttegza Yes, actually. Cousins.

  • @ttegza I wondered the same.

  • It's a terribly made documentry... I love the concept but its just very badly made!!

  • i know its not meant as an insult to him but it makes me laugh how they say he has a 'disability' like theres something wrong with him... everyone who lets people think for them and stops learning and stretching there imagination and possibilities of there mind have a 'disability'. people who plug themselves into the TV every night and waste away while there brain fries and becomes stupid.

i hope you get my point don't think i'm having a go

  • I need this guy to do my math homework!

  • Every young child loves repetition. This is why they are rocked to sleep and sung lullabies.

  • this guy is amazing, but is the doctor related to Sacha Baron-Cohen???

  • @danparcell93

    actually, yes.

  • did you know that doctor is ali G's brother?

  • Hey who else thinks that the Professor Simon Baron Cohen could be related to Sacha Baron Cohen, a.k.a Borat ? :P

    They look alike too.

  • @MarkSpang he is related to ali G

  • this fucken doctor is not messing around with his "s".

  • That Dr. Simon Baron Cohen is the cousin of Sacha Baron Cohen.....aka Borat!!

  • the doctor at the start has one of those voices where when he says the letter S it goes all squeaky

  • taximan891 makes a good point - Daniel's mother states that if he were the first child you wouldn't have any others, yet he WAS the first child and his parents went on to have eight more children. Daniel's "spark of genius" obviously didn't come from his mothers genes..

  • Comment removed

  • i wonder if he can tell how many M&Ms are in a jar

  • Comment removed

  • I've been reading his food, born on a blue day, and found an inconsistency. His mother states that if he were their first born they probably wouldn't have had another. Why would she say this if he actually is indeed their first born? :S

  • adapt to "out" world, you mean we cant adapt to his world

  • "I know he didn't integrate that well", his mother said. Being a genius, I thought he'd be able to integrate splendidly.

  • @leonicc being a genius is very different from learning to integrate into groups of people. note that daniel is autistic, meaning that he sometimes has difficulty relating to other people and understanding what they are feeling. this also makes it difficult to make friends.

  • @Amstarr01 I was making a calculus reference lol

  • @Amstarr01 Idiot.

  • @mikeyb39 okay then...

  • don't we all see colours?? thought it odd for narrator to go for that one

  • So if you have a superbrain, you are half abnormal.... I really don't undestand this....

  • Incredible.

  • I'd slap that mofuckin baby in da mouf

  • When she first said "we swung him in a blacket," I was like, "Jesus, you sick bitch!"

  • You might "see a colour"??

  • OMFG. that artist guy is so fucking hilarious when he attempts to talk. Stupid window licker, get back to your drawings

  • @prisoner109 Get a life. It's not his fault. Bearing that in mind, he seems to make more sense than you do at this moment.

Jealousy never was a good thing.

  • you could hear a sound...

  • @clark144 ...or see a colour. I can't believe they did that!

  • je dree an EPIC donkey kong...

    just sayin'...

  • sometimes at night when i close my eyes i feel something fucking massive, huge like planets or something, cant explain it but its weird, mindblowing

  • @lomonosov31 that's exactly what I feel too

  • LMAO at the title next to the thumbnail.

"Daniel Tammet - The Boy With The Incredible Bra..." LOL

  • @NYPDDonutDept LFMAOOO!!

  • anybody else notice how many times they show his freakin eye?

  • this guy is amazing, yet i dont understand why he doesnt put his abilities to use such as helping find out the cure to cancer or other various problems in our world today, instead of reciting thousands of numbers.

  • @elifraser maybe because his powers don't work that way? its like asking superman to find cure for aids

  • I wonder what he'd "see" 69 as ;)

  • @repdogg94

he says he see "6" as a hole, and number "9" as a gigantic object. so basically he sees 69 as giant object filling a hole, which is like a porn. WOW HE IS A GENIUS!

  • @duclacrotch haha ... only just realised, what a legend he is :P

  • @duclacrotch By god...

  • @duclacrotch You guys have no shame.

  • @duclacrotch How is it filling the hole? Just your dumb joke's reaching attempt is all.

  • @repdogg94 How dignified.

  • @repdogg94

I'm just going to guess that he'd see some sort of stupid cloud shape. Then he'd think about it some more and see two people giving each other oral sex. i know you didn't want a literal response, but I thought it was necessary.

  • @repdogg94 a midget getting fucked by a freakishly tall person.

  • @repdogg94 haha, I'm not going to like your comment, because that would ruin the 69 thumbs up you alrleady got :P

  • Haha! They messed up. They said, "You might hear a sound. And see a color." But that's already what we do. They meant, "You might hear a color. And see a sound."

  • @july7nyc They said it right. They are saying that when you hear a sound, you might associate a color with it.

  • @smadonH Yeah, I thought about that afterward, but they should have made that more clear because otherwise it comes across wrong. They should have said it is when people have their senses completely mixed up and they hear colors and see sounds or something closer to that rather than what they did say. Uh, I'm not being very articulate right now. But I have an excuse. I'm drunk! Lol!

  • if you fid this interesting and plan to research it further, thumbs up

  • Does anybody know the name of the song that starts at about 7:00.

    It is just so amazing.

    Pretty please? :D

  • he was meditating

  • @ 2:43 he coulored out of the line as she says he pays so much atention to detail rofl

  • i wish i had that ability i suck in maths xD

  • I hate hot the producers have put in all these shitty effects that are supposed to show how his brain works. Chances are that they are complete bullshit.

  • so why is he not the next Newton - i mean there must be something 'lacking' to complete THAT circle.

  • I can see the numbers as shapes and colors only in mornings I have a hangover.

  • Comment removed

  • Children are able to learn more than we think. Mozart was a musical genius even as a child, because his father taught him to read music and play before he could even talk. My father was phenomenal with numbers. His mother was a bookkeeper so he learned numbers before learning to speak. Unfortunately, since he was the wrong social class, i.e. poor this natural talent was never nurtured. Very sad.

  • I don't understand how the first part can have 1.2 MIL views, and this part only has 300K...

How the hell can 3/4 of the people watch the first part and then just stop watching??!

  • @flicker0546 maybe they got interested by some other savant. like i got interested by the boy who draws and stop watching this number guy

  • @flicker0546

My mum probably wouldn't know how to get the next movie bit. youtube also delays visits. Sometimes, I think, they remove hits that really happened based on reasons they think are important. That's not a science thing....

  • Comment removed

  • @flicker0546 wow did you do that math in your head? i think you a savant. lmao.. maybe their goose bumps wont stop..

  • @flicker0546 because this is sick dude, I'm watching the second part, and it's scary I don't know what would I do to a child of mine like this

  • @flicker0546 because there is another clip with the same content. i think it's from a different subscriber.

  • @flicker0546 they realized how unintelligent they are

  • @44HBK lollll Hhaha

  • @flicker0546 maybe this one was reuploaded...or something? :\

  • @flicker0546 I completely agree this is interesting as hell to me!

  • @flicker0546

Because most people can't handle concentrating over a unique subject for more then 5 minutes, especially if it's about science....

  • @flicker0546

the first part is posted on wimp com but not the other parts. Maybe people dousnt understand where to find them.

  • @flicker0546

You don't understand this? Then let me educate you!

Many popular websites providing links to fun stuff of different kinds might link this documentary on their website. The stream might be on their page but in order to lower the bandwidth, they stream directly from youtube which means the video gets another hit, but the viewer might or might not know it continues past part 1.

Also, some people might have watched 20 secs of part 1 and decided it wasn't interesting enough. :-)

  • @flicker0546 People lack the brain function to pay attention for any longer than 10 minutes of anything. :)

  • @flicker0546 3/4? it's the representative of the pi number..lol

  • @flicker0546 seen it before... I won't be going on to part 3 ;-p

  • @flicker0546 maybe cuz they have a disability of learning...lol :)

  • @flicker0546 Lots of viewers in the first part than in the second because the part-title (1/5, 2/5, etc) of the preview in the "Suggestion" column (right-side of the latest YouTube version) can't be read due to long title. Only those who reads the title and notices the "1/5" or "2/5" in it will search for the next part of the video. People who eagerly wanna learn more of the video mostly do this :)

  • @flicker0546 hahaha good good!
