You are right to say there is no flat out proof that says there was either Evolution or Creation. However, I am willing to place all my trust in a God who created everything, rather than a man who observed birds on an island. That is where my answer rests, firmly and completely on the word of God. Period.
It's always shocking to me that people can trust an invisible being of supreme power and form who leaves no evidence of his existence, yet the idea that he probably doesn't exist is crazy. Something is wrong there. If you follow the whole god thing back far enough, you are still left with the same question, where did he come from. Most religious people don't go that far though, and just give the easy answer, he always existed. Is that more logical than energy always existing?
In Romans 1 it says that all men know, in their hearts, about the existance of God yet they "supress the truth in unrighteousness."
That being said, we as humans cannot possibly imagine a world outside of time, a world outside of life and death. God lives outside of time. Therefore, he has always been. No matter how I try and rationalize it, I can't seem to wrap my head around it. This is because I am only human and I can only think of things in terms of what I know, which is very little.
Also (sorry for the second posting, youtube only allows a certain amount of characters:), I don't consider myself to be affiliated with "religious people." At least not the kind you're talking about. Yes, I would consider myself to be inside of a religion (Christianity) but I am more concerned about what the Bible says than what some religious people said. It's good that you don't take everyone at their word, it's not good that you don't take God at His word. Please take this into consideration.
Your tone is presumptuous. I think redsoxbred may be making the point that millions accept evolution just on the basis of statements in books and do not think for themselves and that Genesis 1:1, when considered against the backdrop of the universe and the order at all levels which exists within it, ought to be more respected as a possible means by which intelligent life found itself in a universe seemingly engineered to support it.
DAMN, look at all those zeros!
