I'd like to redo the video. I always picture a French aristocratic woman like Marie Antoinette having her ex lover chained in prison. She thinks she's done away with him and then the French Revolution starts. Would anyone like a starring role?
This is definitely the most 80's video I've ever seen. Dark and surreal color scheme... check. Not one, but two feathered mullets... check. Random bird... check.
We were lucky...they played at our 8th grade dance...Dave's sister was in the class. I don't think we realized they were so awesome..we just were used to having them with us all the time in Erie. I can't even tell you how many things I made them autograph..posters, tapes, shirts...lol
The original song is much more grungy. So much better! It's like they cut out all the high and low tones...HORRIBLE. I was all excited to see a group from my home town on the empty-vee, until I saw what the recording industry of america did to the song...and then Stabilizers went nowhere. Big surprise. Such a shame for such a kickass song!
@j4v4x That's what the recording industry will do to things. Take something great and wreck it. I'd like to hear it in it's original form. There's a lot of music we never get to hear because of the control the record labels have on radio stations program directors. And now in Erie with all the radio stations owned by just two media groups, there's no choice of music in Erie any more. I'm from just south of Erie.
I am also from Erie, PA... saw them at Rainbow Gardens... could never understand why they didn't blow the world away with their talent... so great!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS 20+ YEARS LATER!!!!
Maybe i am the only french who remember this song, i was looking for this song since 1986 something like, good to see the vids again. Thanks for this post.
Another Erie guy here. Somewhere I have an old tape from the radio of the original version. Darker, better sax solo, had a male voice doing the speaking part in the middle. Better all the way around. Gotta find that tape. Got some old Friction stuff on tape from the radio too.
saw them at the P.I. and other bars in the early 80's before they made this album. best song is "i don't need the pain" finally found their CD. good sound! didn't get the exposure they deserved.
Does anyone know if this is the same group that was from Erie Pa> My husband remembers them and, they were on American Band Stand back in the Day :)

Kickass band! Great lead singer although their best track was 'If I Found Rome'. Such a solid act. What a waste!

I used to live in Erie too. I remember the way this song sounded on the local radio before the record company remixed it.
