This not only happens in Cornwall but in 95% of the country the government should but ashamed people are let down by the so call professionals who are suppose to protect them being different is not a crime unless it annoys a bully and most of the police are
This is simply unjust, unkind, discriminating and hurtful. How can an institution be so unkind, mean and discriminating? Horrible just horrible. I hope Peter is all well now....towards a better life...wherever he may be. :')
GRRRR! The CRUELTY displayed and the Indifference towards this desperate boy
Makes me so BLOODY ANGRY! It's an obscenity and a disgusting LIE that so-called "Christians" or at least "Civilised" people still live under their rocks.
@fraggler60 The real problem was the utter failure of the system to help. The point-blank refusal to assist a homeless child by Cornwall Social Services (Jim Walters) & failure of duty of care, lack of honesty, integrity & impartiality of police (in particular DC Magnus Scott). The embedded & protected homophobic attitudes & practises of numerous named & identified Cornwall police officers remains to this day a serious problem in continued abuse of power & gay prejudice.
@AjSlutboi The Albert Kennedy Trust does stirling work with LGBT homeless youth in Manchester & London. Unfortunately they are not national in their UK coverage.
In the South West of the UK AVOID the 'Intercom Trust' at ALL cost, who ADDED considerably to the abuse of Peter by the homophobic police & other instuitutions by REFUSING to assist Peter!!!!
Someone needs to kick some of them Cornwall fuckers in the ass. Being gay isn't something to be ridiculed and gay youth need to be protected just like the straight kids do.
@cricketfan6610 Unfortunately NO JOKE! Factually correct. Ofsted FINALLY carried out an inspection of Cornwall's Social Services Children's Services...CONDEMNING THEM....forcing the resignation of the DIrector (Who refused to give any assistance to Peter).. Unfortunately the police officers & individual social workers ALL who refused to help are STILL in post. Pete is 22yrs old this year, My mum is still his landlady!
Cornwall is a complete homosexually stunted area, i went down to see a friend and there is all of one gay bar available pretty much in a place called Truro so i really can believe this Cornwall needs to get with the times ¬_¬
@OneGirlOneGay That would be 'BarQdos'. Peter (in the video) was made so unwelcome there when he turned 18yrs for daring complain about the vile homophobic treatment he (& others) received from the Cornwall police he's not been back there since!!! They don't support gay politics or equality...just gay commercialisim & pink pound explotation.
@BoreOfficialGrime That sounds about right. Cornwall Council cut their support to homeless charities by 40% this year, despite Cornwall having the highest homeless rate out side of Westminster, London. Of course Pete was only 15yrs old, homeless & a child who Cornwall police, social services, etc. all REFUSED to help, failing in their 'duty of care' to a child...but thats what institutional homophobes DO in Cornwall..
@telemarker93 Unfortunately, in Cornwall...yes, where homophobia continues to thrive protected in the institutions of Cornwall police & Cornwall Social Services to this day.
I have two close family members who are openly gay and serving members of the police force in cornwall. Although what has happened is wrong, its only a SMALL minority and happens throughout the UK - not just Cornwall..
this poor boys parents should be hung and quartered. too many gay youth end up in this situation cast aside by family, friends, and society in general. its very sad. Jeez people when are we going to wake up
I have just written a mail to enquiries@cornwall.gov.uk and let them konw that people should care and that they should be very ashamed. sorry my englies is not very good. Love to all who cares and need care.
March 2011: Gaurdian newspaper report: Cornwall authorities:- Tory-controlled Cornwall county council, which has imposed cuts of 40% on local homeless charities at a time when official statistics show it has the highest number of rough sleepers in England after Westminster.
@mrDonVito19 Alas, it has been unquestionably been the Cornwall police who have been the worst by repeatedly demonstrating their homophobic prejudice & discrimination, again & again & again.
The most amazing thing is that Peter had the strength and courage to survive this ordeal and those who helped him are saints. It's sad that some people are still homophobic. I can understand the misguided religious nutcases who are homophobic but what excuse do non-religious people have.
I honestly don't think I would've handled it at all. So Peter is in fact not just a testimony of courage but also a beacon of hope to others that there are people who care. Love to Peter. You're my Hero!
@n2bbuilding Indeed. Thanks for making the video to share the story and glad to hear that, owing to the kindness of a few good people, he made it through.
I cried when I saw this video again!! It is so painfull to know that people who have all the good reasons for peace in their lives and society do these things... May the bigger look with love at Peter,,,And I truely hope he is okay!!!
@xoxDJDanger1 Peter is fine. He will be 22yrs old this year. The Cornwall police officers & social workers who failed in their 'duty of care' towards him when he was homeless have gotten away 'scot free'....so the institutional abuse of homeless youth in Cornwall will continue...a was demonstrated earlier (2011) this year by the DEATH of a homeless 17yr old girl (Lorna May) in Cornwall
I nearly cried. I have a gay friend and one day i saw him being beaten up by 3 dudes, so i ran over and punched one of the guys in the face. I got suspended!!! Not the jackasses that broke his nose, left hand, and self esteem. Homophobia needs to stop.
@swimmerguy56 You would be the ONLY, SOLE, SINGULAR, decent, honest, non-homophobic, & unself serving social worker in Cornwall if you did!....(& so says Pete the lad in the video ...sat beside me as I type)
@thepinkpasty I don't live in Cornwall, but if I did and had my degree already ( I am still a student! ) I would of made sure that wouldn't of happened!! But Thank you!! for saying those nice things about me! I know how hard it can be with homophobic things.... :)
this video makes me want to cry so much. i think im lucky to have friends who eccept me that i dont have to worry. becasue of this video i am doing a presentation at uni about homaphobia. im talking about it as a large subject but was going to talk about lawrence king, matthew shepard. can anyone tell me what peter's surename is please so i can be able to referance to this video and talk about peter. thank you
@thepsychicsquid No not more reason to hate the police, this is 1 small part of a Police force on the whole. just because this one area of the UK was so damn right mean does not mean that the rest are. There are plenty of Openly LGBT supporters throughout the UK.
@Hypnotide TODAY Devon & Cornwall Police Authority recorded a formal allegation of 'BLACKMAIL' by Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Chief Officer Group in targeting a gay victim of police abuses.
There are DOZENS of Cornwall police officers I can name who are corrupt, dishonest & homophobic.
I would not trust a single UK police officer in this deeply corrupt organisation called police, especially after Ian Tomlinson, Charles De Menezes & Mark Aspinall cases where police LIED again & again!
2011: Despite having raised the issue of youth homelessness in Cornwall in 2005 & been relentlessly attacked by Cornish authorities for doing so...Tragically in Jan 2011 a 17yr old homeless girl called Lorna May DIED in Cornwall, let down yet AGAIN by Cornish authorities
...Who cares?
Certainly not in our experience Cornwall Social Services, Cornwall police or Cornish Mp's like Andrew George!
That is so sad that homophooo are basters, I hope he is doing well and he is in college or some kind of studies because now day u or anyone is know one by just a High School Diploma, now days you need to have at least a A.A......
its a shame how people will treat each other, but life isn't fair.. Unfortunately he found his hell on earth and it happens to go by the name of "Cornwall" its is disgusting how they can ignore a youth in need...
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! Heart wrenching to watch this, it's things like this that happen to young Innocent people ALL OVER THE WORLD that make me sick! How could anyone let things like this happen to a child regardless of sexuality? Appalling behavior on the part of the officials of Cornwall and I only hope that some day someone out there will lend you to the same humanity that you gave to this child!
@jasonwojnicz Thanks for that. Peter (who is 21yrs old now) is back living as my 78yr old mums tenant again....and as is to be expected of this vile homophobic Cornwall police force...the homophobic intimidation has started (not that the affects of Cornwall police homophobia ever stopped)...again. 'Equality & Diversity' is simply lip service by Chief Constable Stephen Otter, head of the homophobic Devon & Cornwall police.
I was a teenager back in the 70s,when the gay age of consent was still 21,as opposed to 16 for str8s.The abuse I received then whilst very unpleasant pales into insignificance to what LGBT people,& in particular young LBGT people endure today. So,to all the LBGT organisations & Gay Pride, how far have we really come in the last 30 odd years?!Yes,we may well have legislation now,but can we truly legislate for homophobia?! Clearly not! Shame on Cornwall authorities!
It doesn't necessarily take faggotry to make fundie right-wing fucktards hate blue hair. When I was 18 I had a blue mohawk and once a wingnut in a car drove up to me, said "hey asshole" and threw a glass bottle at my face. The cops laughed it off like it was a joke.
Hey Peter - keep your head up, and happy birthday. I'm glad you've been able to create a family that cares for you. I can't imagine dealing with what you've ha to deal with, but it looks like in exchange for your difficulties you've been given not one but two guardian angels
I just hope that other gay people who see this realize that homosexyality is a choice and they need to start deciding on being straight. Its all just a big cry for attention. Dangerous attention. And i don't think the brave/noble people that drive these children to suicide are homophobic, they are futurephobic. They are scared for these poor and ill-minded gay children's future and try to get them to re-decide on their sexuality. And after failing, they send the kids to the creator to repent.
I was homeless for a year lived in some bushes in Crantock near Newquay, I had MANY instances of police stopping me for my ''hairy image''. Finally got some housing benefit and am living in Newquay trying to start a small online bussiness, but the council has just cut my benifit and lumped me with a few hundred pound council tax bill, now cant afford next months rent or the council tax so have to go live back outside, (thanks cornish council) oh and keep up the boarding im a mountainboarder too!
I'm immediately going to see what cities are in Cornwall. EVERYONE should boycott these places due to lack of humanity and a place of intolerant ignorance. I thought Nazi Germany was bad, but Cornwall seems to exhibit some of the worse aspects of Nazism. I shall recommend this site to EVERYONE so they can see and hear for themselves the OUTRAGEOUS HATE in Cornwall. In the next several days, hundreds of people will see this video.
NB: Please Note: Seemingly Cornwall police are attempting to prevent my producing these factual videos & my Blog, by trying to stop my receiving Incapacity Benefit, following my attempted suicide as a DIRECT RESULT of multiple homophobic conduct of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.
This relentless HOMOPHOBIC VENDETTA by Cornwall police has been going on since 2004 and with no end in sight in 2010.
I wish I lived closer to Peter, but sadly I'm on the other side of the world in Australia. To be punished for simply being gay is wrong, and it saddens me that people still suffer at the hands of people who should know better. If I could ever meet him, I would offer my assistance and do what I could to give him an environment where he could be safe. And if he ever gets an opportunity to read my comment, I'd like him to know that not everyone is this bad and that there is still hope.
@dogwomble .. you took the words right out of my mouth. ... i HATE ppl have to go through this stuff in life. i wish i could help in anyway i can. its times like this ppl should come together and help each other. i know i would help if i could. i dont care what u are. how u are. ppl are ppl. nuthin more nuthin less. treat everyone the way YOU would want to be treated... help same way.
Age is no excuse @ Imprinted, although I do agree with you. I am an 'older' mother, my children are 9 and 10, they would never make the assumption when we talk about relationships that we mean men and women. I also know at school my son who is quite petite and a dancer, is often taunted and called gay..he simply responds by congratulating the name caller on being homophobic and ignorant. I hope he always has this strength.
I AM IN LOS ANGELES CA GAYS HERE LIKE ME ARE TREATED GOOD YOU NEED TO MOVE FOR YOUR LIFE TO ABIGGER CITY IT IS NOT SAFE FOR YOUIN CORN HOLE OR SHIT HOLE WHAT EVER THAT CITY IS STAY SAFE KID PLEASE MOVE
@marcus8902 Cornwall has the lowest ethnic diversity in the United Kingdom.
In the past I have heard racist comments in a bar I used to work in (a local copper who drank there used to regularily make homophobic jokes and I had to ask for this to stop)...ironically this sort of bigotry usually comes from those who have barely EVER encountered a person of ethnic origin.
Cornwall police are probably just as racist, as they are homophobic... to my bitter experience & factual knowledge!
It is sad but homophobia is still prevalent most places - not just the UK. Places, like Cornwall, have an ageing population and may take a little longer to become PC. I am sorry to hear that Peter had such a rough time and I hope that he is doing better these days.
While I agree that Homophobia is a terrible thing and should not be tolerated I don't see the point in posting videos all over youtube saying what a horrible prejudiced place you think Cornwall is - it feels more like a vendetta than a campaign for gay rights. I am Cornish and I don't think you can realistically say that Cornwall is the most homophobic place in Britain - what kind of comparison did you do to make that conclusion.
@ImprintedUK What made me come to that conclusion?...the catalogue of homophobic incidents we have on documented record (primarily involving homophobic conduct by Cornwall police officers) which the Cornwall authorities decline to act upon. Cornwall has the documented highest level of LGBT suicides in west of UK. Cornwall Police decline to record reported homophobic incidents, in particular those involving their own identified officers.
@thepinkpasty I wasn't aware of the suicide rates & that is scary indeed - what I meant was that there's no indication that Peter would've experienced less institutional racism had he been...in Dorset, or Wales or any other rural place - larger cities tend to be more multicultural and enlightened - not that it makes it right. I don't have a problem with your msg it is the anti-Cornish posts it is provoking from the likes of Keith & Nigel who I'd like to remind that some local ppl tried to help.
@ImprintedUK The issue is not that of whether Cornish or not (Peter is born Cornish), but the attitudes within Cornwall (from both some Cornish & incomers). I have multiple records of homophobic incidents, assaults leading to death (Richard Perry) including murder (Terrence Sweet), even the case of another case, assault in Helston where the assailant went on to murder a gay man up country...the primary problem is homophobic institutions like Devon & Cornwall police.
@thepinkpasty I'd like to thank you for making that distinction clear because I think that some people who have posted have missed that entirely. I hope you understand why I felt the need to challenge such comments and try to represent that not everyone South of the Tamar is a violent homophobe. I'll admit this video is not what I hoped or expected to find when I put "Cornwall" in a search but I AM glad that I saw it and I support the call for change that it conveys.
@ImprintedUK You might want to watch 'Cornwall PRIDE in Cornish Gay Boy'...a video about my former partner Andrew Smith (another Cornishman) who died as a result of HIV/AIDS in Cornwall back in the 1990's. He too was homophobically abused by Cornwall County Council, Cornwall Social Services, the Cornwall Health Authority (but not our GP who was brilliant, as was the GU clinic at Truro). The problem lies with BIGOTS protected within Cornwall's authorities...esp. the vile Cornwall police!!!
There are so many in power that are too also gay. They will stay in their closets and abuse gay victims to hide their own gay life styles. They are afraid of the public. They have seen the violence so they must cover their own gayness by contributing to the violence. Come out, Come out where ever you are. We know you are hiding in your closet. Come out and be proud. Do not pretend any longer. For we know the truth. You cannot look me in the eye because I speak the truth.
that was vary touching video it touched my heart. its really ashame how gay youths are abused. for that matter anyone who was abused is a terrible thing.
I can relate to peters pain, being as though I'm not gay, yet I understand the pain of being abused from childhood the scars that abuse leaves behind sometimes stay with a person even though they live their lives, the abuse wasnt from my parents it was from the orphanages I stayed in as a child. peter stay strong ok??
i have never found homaphobic problems in Cornwall. I know a lot of people in the gay community, and Cornwall has a huge gay community. But If I came across this type of harassment I would speak lond and clear, proud and strong. I'm straight but embrace diversity and friendship. People are people...I love them all..XX
@fdsc43 Unfortunately, this is just one of several cases of blatant homophobic attitudes & practises by Cornwall authorities in recent years. Equally, unfortunate is that there are those in the so-called Cornwall gay community who ostracise the victims of institutional hate crimes, in particular police homophobia (the same as some gays in Cornwall do HIV+ suffers). It is a contributary factor to Cornwall having the highest LGBT suicide rate (& attempted) in the West of England.
@keithc1977 I think it is a shame that you can watch a video that was clearly made to stand against hate and then do exactly the same thing by lumping the whole of Cornwall together as a horrid place that people should not visit! Were your parents planning to spend their holiday at the police station then?
@ImprintedUK Indeed, it was the Cornwall police, Cornwall Social Services, Cornwall youth services, Cornwall Education service, Cornwall Share, the Navy Family welfare, Intercom Trust, & other organisations....ALL of whom declined to lift a finger to help...and then these organisationfurther compounded their 'failure of duty of care' by attacking the members of the public who did assist Peter.
the law reaks with bad coppers and they all should be struck of the rgister and be jailed ,the judge invovled should be given a life sentence for his participation in the crime of discriminating against homosexual people ,Peter deseved a better life when given it by deserving loving people they 2 were condemed by ,crimminals that claim to be law givers ,shame be to you england for letting this happen !!!!
@walesysbits1 ...and we can actually prove with police own documentation (signed by PC Fuller) that DC Magnus Scott committed perjury in court...but the corupt & dishonest Devon & Cornwall Constabulary & useless IPCC REFUSE to investigate.....CORRUPTION, it's a UK police thing!
im not gay but i think homophobia is a wrong but strong thing in the u.k today, what you need to realise is that being gay is diffrent and i hate saying it but its not right, but i can understand that we cannot choose who or what we like. I hope life for peter get better and he can help and inspire other gay people who are victems of homophobic remarks. I BELEVE IT IS THE OLDER GENERATION OF THIS COUNTRY THAT ARE ENCOURAGING HOMOPHOBIC AND RACIST REMARKS WHEN THEY ARE GONE THERE WILL BE NONE!
This is horrible! Please tell me Peter is doing well and safe! This is sending him Love and best wishes from the USA. *hugs* Peter...wish I could of been there to help. :(
Don't they realise that every attack on us that becomes known like this just makes us more determined to bring them down? Don't they realise how much stronger we have become? Do they really think their efforts are going to destroy us? We were here before their prejudices were even thought of and we will be here long after they are no more than a bad memory in the collective human consciousness.
all throughout this whole thing i was biting my lip to hold back tears thinking over and over 'peter better not be dead, peter better not be dead'. cyber hugz to peter
Congratulations on a fantastic milestone. Like Nigel16032009 and beddingfieldlukalike I feared all the way through that video that Peter had died somehow. I think it was the choice of music that led me to that conclusion. That was the most beautiful version of that song I've ever heard though. May I add to Nigel's comments and I wish you all the very best, Peter. I hope you get over to Sydney one day for Mardi Gras. And know that you're loved even from the other side of the world. Pax Vobiscum.
Speaking as a Gay Man myself, who has worked in local politics in the Duchy, I can concur that a large majority of local councillors are as corrupt as the Police Force, although, corruption in the police force is so endemic across the whole of the UK , I doubt anything can be done to rectify it now.
This story really does twang the heart strings, but I'm so please that it does have a happy ending
@Vtr1781249 As well as I. I was quite concerned that the ending would be just like many other videos on this site covering this subject: Suicide. Yet, the ending made me PROUD and ENCOURAGED instead of SAD...... That's a very important observation considering many gay teens and gay teens parents will use this site to see how to react and how to respond to their children(s) issues. This video is a great example of what happens when GOOD PEOPLE do GOOD THINGS...... all things happen for a reason.
I'm in a state of complete shock. Peter I hope you are OK. I hope you have the freedom and support you need now. There are a lot of gay people in the UK who will support you. Congratulations for carrying on through this. Good luck for the future.
Today we past TWO MILLION views in total of Pink Pasty Videos, raising awareness of Cornwall police homophobic attitudes & practices.
There are 67 Pink Pasty videos to view!
The Pink Pasty (blog) & youtube channel started in 2007 due to refusal of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary to address our experience & knowledge of police dishonesty, corruption & homophobia in the Cornwall (UK) police force.
THIS CASE IS JUST THE TIP OF A BLOODY REALITY HOMOSEXUAL PEOPLE ALL OVER THE PLANET HAVE TO GO THROUGH ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS... FOLKS, YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO HERE ON YOUTUBE:
Devon & Cornwall Constabulary have threatened to CLOSE down Falmouth Uni 'Source FM ' radio station 'if' they broadcast a live interview with me regarding the catalogue of police homophobic incidents I am witness too have knowledge off.
So much for 'Freedom of Speech'...and the Human Rights Act and Freedom of Information Act...which Devon & Cornwall police flaunt repeatedly.
I am shocked, staggered and absolutely bloody outraged by the treatment of Peter. If all this is true, and I strongly suspect it is, those in charge, police and social services, should hange their heads in shame.
How is Peter now he's 21? I was really upset fearing this clip would end with his suicide. Peter: if you read this, I wish you all the very best for the rest of life and I mean that with ALL my heart. If you can't enjoy living in Cornwall because of the bigots move to Yorkshire!
@Nigel16032009 Too be fair there are 'some' Cornish who are very supportive, the Celtic league organisation being one of the organisatons that has been & for several years.
@Nigel16032009 wow - what an 'enlightened' remark - it saddens me that my comments will probably be deleted and yet thepinkpasty has not deleted this kind of abusive language.
(i) Cornwall& Isles of Scilly Health Authority put the probation dept. in charge of a gay health project....because all gay people were potential criminals.
(ii) Multi-million pound Trago Mills called for "the castration of gay men" in adverts, I won the ASA investigation.
(III) Kerrier Council lost an Ombudsman enquriy for 'Maladministration with malice' against a gay AIDS sufferer (he was my partner)
that is so bad.. hir in the phil. wer still struggling a little bit.. its not easy.. im gaymen.. and wer not so free to express our true self.. but wer still respected by others... if u respect ur self..
I'm very curious as to why your national government hasn't investigated these claims. These are some very serious charges, and if they can be substantiated the people who are responsible need to be held, charged, and jailed.
@thecompletesmitty Your making the mistake thinking that there is honesty & integrity operating in the UK regarding the police. Regretably there is not. On the 12th Feb & 22nd of March of this year 6hrs of police videoed evidence was provided to the police. including references, witness & even police documentation & statements....its simply been suppressed, despite a request under the Freedom of Information Act. Corruption, its a police thing!
This is absolutely shocking, and I hope those involved, especially Peter's parents live to regret this inhuman behaviour to another human being, not to mention one so young and vulnerable. If this sort of thing really does go on in Cornwall on an almost institutional level, or anywhere else in the UK, then David Cameron needs to know about it and do something about it , now. I am going to send this video to the offices of Downing Street, and I suggest everyone else to do the same.
Thank you. May I suggest you watch the video "Cornwall Pride, Gay Life & Death'...for further insight...& it is still only the tip of the Institutional homophobic iceberg operating in Cornwall, UK.
this is horrible. how can people do this. no one deserves what happened to Peter gay or straight. its makes me feel sick to no i live in a world like this. the people who helped him are hero's.
Sometimes I am so ashamed of my society inability to support people like Peter - All I can say to Peter is be strong and live your life to the full XXXXX
When will society get its act together - This lad has a right to be himself - I'm ashamed of all the services that failed and percecuted Peter - You can see why the Albert Kennedy trust was set up now - Good luck Peter
@trevortrevortsr2 Although the Albert Kennedy Trust is excellent...it only helps LGBT youth in Manchester & London. We approached (AKT) them for help for Peter...along with Intercom Trust (spits on floor), Navy Family Welfare, STONEWALL, Cornwall Youth Project, Social Services...& the police...NONE were willing to give Peter ANY assistance!
@thepinkpasty Yes I Know AKT only do London & Manachester its such a shame - somtimes we have to act as individuals but then that results in some horrid speculation - been there got the tea towel - but it will never stop us doing what we can
Just what is wrong with Cornwall. Everyone is entitiled to live their own life regardless of colour, creed or sexual persuasion. Live and let live. Furthermore everyone and in paticular young people deserve all the support they can get to help them to live good and fulfilling lives. What determines good is not up to biggotted authoritarians. I am now 64 and am lucky not to have suffered the abuse such as that meeted out to Peter by people who should have been supporting and protecting him.
I think it is time that the people and Authorities of the world stod up and listened to people like Peter. No one should have to go through what he went through. So come on people we are in the next century and times change. Please give guys like Peter and all us gay people a fair go.
I find it disgusting that a guy whether young or old no matter where in the world he may be should be prececuted the way Peter was. Come on people of the world this is 2010 and the workd moves on and times change. So what if Peter had blue hair or any other coulor for that matter, please give him and all us gay people a fair go and let us get on with our lives without percecution!!
as an openly gay cornishman living in yorkshire i would really encourage any police officer to act even slightly homophobic within my sights. this situation disgusts me, let the kid be a kid, gay/straight/blue haired or pink.
@martingilbert74 As a Cornishman living away you might like to watch the video 'Cornwall Pride life and death'...for further insight into the homophobia of you homeland.
@martingilbert74 I live in Australia and have been gay all my life and I know what it is like with what happened to Peter. I copped this abuse when was growing up and still to this day it hapens and no one wants to help people like we gay people. They seem to think that we are the scurge of the earth, but no, we are just human beings the same as anyone else but different in our own way. So Please give us a fair go and leave us alone.
@thepinkpasy I`m gutted for him and enraged that this has happened, I live in Blackpool if Peter ever ventures in this area I`d be happy to help him in any way I could, just let me know!
... ctd... there should be sackings, a public enquiery and jail sentences for those accountable, I`ve had my say now but when will Peter get the oppertunity to have his?.
@kennymallan Thank you. It all became too much for Peter & he gave up trying to fight Homophobic Cornwall police & the corrupt IPCC. Homophobic Cornwall Social Services, & the corrupt Ombudsman. Peter will be 21yrs old in just a few weeks and was until recently still living in Cornwall. Following another recent intimidating & bullying harrasement visit by police (16th July 2010), he has left Cornwall.
.... ctd.... to not only allow this to continue but to aggrivate the circumstances and esculate further needless suffering should hang their heads in shame.... I`d jail them for abuse of position and failier to carry out their paid duties and keep them there till the day they can burn in hell! Social services looked the other way and allowed local authorities to terrorise a 15 year old kid for being gay, The cowards have helped the nazi bastards and it`s a disgrace,...ctd...........
... ctd not to mention the abuse of position in the way this poor guy has been treated and his landlady too, Those who enforce the rules so ferosiously and over officiously should learn that they cant bend or attempt to rise above them in an attempt to fit with their facist ideals and prejudices, it makes my blood boil that the depravation in the police force is still unchallenged as ever and they along with the buck passers and heartless cowards from social services who chose ctd...............
It is extremely sad but to me the real annoying thing is all these people that are drawing wages from the public purse are doing so under the label of public service which to my mind by it`s very definition requires them to help and asist the vunerable in society regardless of circumstance and anyone who allows bitter and warped personal predjudice to influence them in a way that detracts from the quaility of that service should be removed from their position, ctd...
This powerfull video has both opened my eyes further to the unjustifiable hatered and predudices of neanderthall facists and soaked them in tears in equal measures, I truely wish I could offer Peter some level of unconditional friendship. Jesus I`m getting destressed just typing this..... Good luck Peter and as of Cornwall authorities who are supposedly employed as public servants to protect the welfare of the vunerable.... hang your heads in shame!
hate crimes happens everywhere....its fact.....and what happened to this 15 year old boy is completely wrong..... I am gay and proud too say so.....There has to be somthing done about these people before its too late......it dosnen,t matter if its police, social services or even family....they will always get away with it...... the police and the socialwork department have there ways of covering things up.... trust me I know...... but I will say this"we will win against hate crime"
You say Social Services blamed the boy for his own circumstances. What are the nature of these circumstances? Did they say? Was the boy autistic? A drug addict? A trouble-maker of some sort? What were the parents like? Is the boy's horrible experience simply attributable to his being gay? I am straight, a Christian, and quite conservative, but I can't imagine my feelings changing towards my child or someone I love, simply because they come out as gay. I think most people would say the same.
@LordScatlebury The lad was frightened of a violent navy family home life (witnessed by school friends) & an equally violent & bullying homophobic school environement, so he lived on the streets.... that apparently is his fault according to Social Services who were FULLY aware.
I find this story very difficult to believe. Contemporary Britain is pathologically multicultural and politically correct. The degree to which tolerance ( for everything but the straight Christian Natives) is shoved down people's throats in the UK, borders on a sickness. That his family would abandon him, his community turn their backs, and the constabulary persecute him, is very hard to imagine. Especially in Britain where it's practically illegal to even hurt someone's feelings.
@LordScatlebury We have all the documentary records, witness statements, including some police documentation. The Cornwall Children Services were CONDEMNED in a damning central government report shortly after, forcing resignation of the Head of Cornwall Childrens Services...who would not lift a finger to assist Peter.
@thepinkpasty You'll forgive my skepticism, I mean no disrespect. It is very difficult for me to accept this story as is. There must be something missing from this tale. Why would the police and the community be so aggressively hostile, going so far as to harass anyone helping the boy? And what kind of meth- addicted, on the dole, gormless nutter abandons their child to live rough in a cow pasture? That's the part which sickens me. Why weren't the fiends arrested for child abandonment?
@LordScatlebury A good question, why were police officers (PC TRELOAR & PC FULLER) who suppressed evidence & failed in 'duty of care' not prosecuted, or the vile parents? Institutional Corruption & homophobia. Social services failed in their responsibilities and blamed the chid for being abandoned & homeless in their report. People in our village & others were VERY supportive and formed a voluntary support team in the total abscence of ANY Cornwall authority statutory assistance.
This is why I'm an OUT gay high school teacher! I'm the Band Director at my school, and I watch for kids like Peter... they're not just in Britain! This nonsense happens right here in the states too! God Bless you Peter! Your strength strengthens me.

fraggler60 5 months ago
@fraggler60 The real problem was the utter failure of the system to help. The point-blank refusal to assist a homeless child by Cornwall Social Services (Jim Walters) & failure of duty of care, lack of honesty, integrity & impartiality of police (in particular DC Magnus Scott). The embedded & protected homophobic attitudes & practises of numerous named & identified Cornwall police officers remains to this day a serious problem in continued abuse of power & gay prejudice.

ImprintedUK 1 year ago
While I agree that Homophobia is a terrible thing and should not be tolerated I don't see the point in posting videos all over youtube saying what a horrible prejudiced place you think Cornwall is - it feels more like a vendetta than a campaign for gay rights. I am Cornish and I don't think you can realistically say that Cornwall is the most homophobic place in Britain - what kind of comparison did you do to make that conclusion.
ImprintedUK 1 year ago
@ImprintedUK What made me come to that conclusion?...the catalogue of homophobic incidents we have on documented record (primarily involving homophobic conduct by Cornwall police officers) which the Cornwall authorities decline to act upon. Cornwall has the documented highest level of LGBT suicides in west of UK. Cornwall Police decline to record reported homophobic incidents, in particular those involving their own identified officers.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
@thepinkpasty I wasn't aware of the suicide rates & that is scary indeed - what I meant was that there's no indication that Peter would've experienced less institutional racism had he been...in Dorset, or Wales or any other rural place - larger cities tend to be more multicultural and enlightened - not that it makes it right. I don't have a problem with your msg it is the anti-Cornish posts it is provoking from the likes of Keith & Nigel who I'd like to remind that some local ppl tried to help.
ImprintedUK 1 year ago
@ImprintedUK The issue is not that of whether Cornish or not (Peter is born Cornish), but the attitudes within Cornwall (from both some Cornish & incomers). I have multiple records of homophobic incidents, assaults leading to death (Richard Perry) including murder (Terrence Sweet), even the case of another case, assault in Helston where the assailant went on to murder a gay man up country...the primary problem is homophobic institutions like Devon & Cornwall police.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
@thepinkpasty I'd like to thank you for making that distinction clear because I think that some people who have posted have missed that entirely. I hope you understand why I felt the need to challenge such comments and try to represent that not everyone South of the Tamar is a violent homophobe. I'll admit this video is not what I hoped or expected to find when I put "Cornwall" in a search but I AM glad that I saw it and I support the call for change that it conveys.
ImprintedUK 1 year ago
@ImprintedUK You might want to watch 'Cornwall PRIDE in Cornish Gay Boy'...a video about my former partner Andrew Smith (another Cornishman) who died as a result of HIV/AIDS in Cornwall back in the 1990's. He too was homophobically abused by Cornwall County Council, Cornwall Social Services, the Cornwall Health Authority (but not our GP who was brilliant, as was the GU clinic at Truro). The problem lies with BIGOTS protected within Cornwall's authorities...esp. the vile Cornwall police!!!
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
There are so many in power that are too also gay. They will stay in their closets and abuse gay victims to hide their own gay life styles. They are afraid of the public. They have seen the violence so they must cover their own gayness by contributing to the violence. Come out, Come out where ever you are. We know you are hiding in your closet. Come out and be proud. Do not pretend any longer. For we know the truth. You cannot look me in the eye because I speak the truth.

fdsc43 1 year ago
@fdsc43 Unfortunately, this is just one of several cases of blatant homophobic attitudes & practises by Cornwall authorities in recent years. Equally, unfortunate is that there are those in the so-called Cornwall gay community who ostracise the victims of institutional hate crimes, in particular police homophobia (the same as some gays in Cornwall do HIV+ suffers). It is a contributary factor to Cornwall having the highest LGBT suicide rate (& attempted) in the West of England.

@class37fan I think you ought to do some research
(i) Cornwall& Isles of Scilly Health Authority put the probation dept. in charge of a gay health project....because all gay people were potential criminals.
(ii) Multi-million pound Trago Mills called for "the castration of gay men" in adverts, I won the ASA investigation.
(III) Kerrier Council lost an Ombudsman enquriy for 'Maladministration with malice' against a gay AIDS sufferer (he was my partner)
....I have dozens more examples

I'm very curious as to why your national government hasn't investigated these claims. These are some very serious charges, and if they can be substantiated the people who are responsible need to be held, charged, and jailed.
thecompletesmitty 1 year ago
@thecompletesmitty Your making the mistake thinking that there is honesty & integrity operating in the UK regarding the police. Regretably there is not. On the 12th Feb & 22nd of March of this year 6hrs of police videoed evidence was provided to the police. including references, witness & even police documentation & statements....its simply been suppressed, despite a request under the Freedom of Information Act. Corruption, its a police thing!
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
This is absolutely shocking, and I hope those involved, especially Peter's parents live to regret this inhuman behaviour to another human being, not to mention one so young and vulnerable. If this sort of thing really does go on in Cornwall on an almost institutional level, or anywhere else in the UK, then David Cameron needs to know about it and do something about it , now. I am going to send this video to the offices of Downing Street, and I suggest everyone else to do the same.
slaphaddalztick 1 year ago
@slaphaddalztick
Thank you. May I suggest you watch the video "Cornwall Pride, Gay Life & Death'...for further insight...& it is still only the tip of the Institutional homophobic iceberg operating in Cornwall, UK.

Sometimes I am so ashamed of my society inability to support people like Peter - All I can say to Peter is be strong and live your life to the full XXXXX
trevortrevortsr2 1 year ago
When will society get its act together - This lad has a right to be himself - I'm ashamed of all the services that failed and percecuted Peter - You can see why the Albert Kennedy trust was set up now - Good luck Peter
trevortrevortsr2 1 year ago
@trevortrevortsr2 Although the Albert Kennedy Trust is excellent...it only helps LGBT youth in Manchester & London. We approached (AKT) them for help for Peter...along with Intercom Trust (spits on floor), Navy Family Welfare, STONEWALL, Cornwall Youth Project, Social Services...& the police...NONE were willing to give Peter ANY assistance!
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
@thepinkpasty Yes I Know AKT only do London & Manachester its such a shame - somtimes we have to act as individuals but then that results in some horrid speculation - been there got the tea towel - but it will never stop us doing what we can
trevortrevortsr2 1 year ago
Just what is wrong with Cornwall. Everyone is entitiled to live their own life regardless of colour, creed or sexual persuasion. Live and let live. Furthermore everyone and in paticular young people deserve all the support they can get to help them to live good and fulfilling lives. What determines good is not up to biggotted authoritarians. I am now 64 and am lucky not to have suffered the abuse such as that meeted out to Peter by people who should have been supporting and protecting him.
Jamiegeorge46 1 year ago
I think it is time that the people and Authorities of the world stod up and listened to people like Peter. No one should have to go through what he went through. So come on people we are in the next century and times change. Please give guys like Peter and all us gay people a fair go.
paddyz61949 1 year ago
I find it disgusting that a guy whether young or old no matter where in the world he may be should be prececuted the way Peter was. Come on people of the world this is 2010 and the workd moves on and times change. So what if Peter had blue hair or any other coulor for that matter, please give him and all us gay people a fair go and let us get on with our lives without percecution!!
paddyz61949 1 year ago
as an openly gay cornishman living in yorkshire i would really encourage any police officer to act even slightly homophobic within my sights. this situation disgusts me, let the kid be a kid, gay/straight/blue haired or pink.

@martingilbert74 As a Cornishman living away you might like to watch the video 'Cornwall Pride life and death'...for further insight into the homophobia of you homeland.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
@martingilbert74 I live in Australia and have been gay all my life and I know what it is like with what happened to Peter. I copped this abuse when was growing up and still to this day it hapens and no one wants to help people like we gay people. They seem to think that we are the scurge of the earth, but no, we are just human beings the same as anyone else but different in our own way. So Please give us a fair go and leave us alone.
paddyz61949 1 year ago
@thepinkpasy I`m gutted for him and enraged that this has happened, I live in Blackpool if Peter ever ventures in this area I`d be happy to help him in any way I could, just let me know!

... ctd... there should be sackings, a public enquiery and jail sentences for those accountable, I`ve had my say now but when will Peter get the oppertunity to have his?.
kennymallan 1 year ago
@kennymallan Thank you. It all became too much for Peter & he gave up trying to fight Homophobic Cornwall police & the corrupt IPCC. Homophobic Cornwall Social Services, & the corrupt Ombudsman. Peter will be 21yrs old in just a few weeks and was until recently still living in Cornwall. Following another recent intimidating & bullying harrasement visit by police (16th July 2010), he has left Cornwall.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
.... ctd.... to not only allow this to continue but to aggrivate the circumstances and esculate further needless suffering should hang their heads in shame.... I`d jail them for abuse of position and failier to carry out their paid duties and keep them there till the day they can burn in hell! Social services looked the other way and allowed local authorities to terrorise a 15 year old kid for being gay, The cowards have helped the nazi bastards and it`s a disgrace,...ctd...........
kennymallan 1 year ago
... ctd not to mention the abuse of position in the way this poor guy has been treated and his landlady too, Those who enforce the rules so ferosiously and over officiously should learn that they cant bend or attempt to rise above them in an attempt to fit with their facist ideals and prejudices, it makes my blood boil that the depravation in the police force is still unchallenged as ever and they along with the buck passers and heartless cowards from social services who chose ctd...............
kennymallan 1 year ago
It is extremely sad but to me the real annoying thing is all these people that are drawing wages from the public purse are doing so under the label of public service which to my mind by it`s very definition requires them to help and asist the vunerable in society regardless of circumstance and anyone who allows bitter and warped personal predjudice to influence them in a way that detracts from the quaility of that service should be removed from their position, ctd...
kennymallan 1 year ago
This powerfull video has both opened my eyes further to the unjustifiable hatered and predudices of neanderthall facists and soaked them in tears in equal measures, I truely wish I could offer Peter some level of unconditional friendship. Jesus I`m getting destressed just typing this..... Good luck Peter and as of Cornwall authorities who are supposedly employed as public servants to protect the welfare of the vunerable.... hang your heads in shame!
kennymallan 1 year ago
hate crimes happens everywhere....its fact.....and what happened to this 15 year old boy is completely wrong..... I am gay and proud too say so.....There has to be somthing done about these people before its too late......it dosnen,t matter if its police, social services or even family....they will always get away with it...... the police and the socialwork department have there ways of covering things up.... trust me I know...... but I will say this"we will win against hate crime"
MegaAlexNO1 1 year ago
You say Social Services blamed the boy for his own circumstances. What are the nature of these circumstances? Did they say? Was the boy autistic? A drug addict? A trouble-maker of some sort? What were the parents like? Is the boy's horrible experience simply attributable to his being gay? I am straight, a Christian, and quite conservative, but I can't imagine my feelings changing towards my child or someone I love, simply because they come out as gay. I think most people would say the same.
LordScatlebury 1 year ago
@LordScatlebury The lad was frightened of a violent navy family home life (witnessed by school friends) & an equally violent & bullying homophobic school environement, so he lived on the streets.... that apparently is his fault according to Social Services who were FULLY aware.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
all i could think was 'what if that was any of my gay best friends?'
i'd lose it no one deserves to be ignored when they need help be them: straight, gay, man, woman, child, or adult!
awsome0fun21 1 year ago
I find this story very difficult to believe. Contemporary Britain is pathologically multicultural and politically correct. The degree to which tolerance ( for everything but the straight Christian Natives) is shoved down people's throats in the UK, borders on a sickness. That his family would abandon him, his community turn their backs, and the constabulary persecute him, is very hard to imagine. Especially in Britain where it's practically illegal to even hurt someone's feelings.
LordScatlebury 1 year ago
@LordScatlebury We have all the documentary records, witness statements, including some police documentation. The Cornwall Children Services were CONDEMNED in a damning central government report shortly after, forcing resignation of the Head of Cornwall Childrens Services...who would not lift a finger to assist Peter.
thepinkpasty 1 year ago
@thepinkpasty You'll forgive my skepticism, I mean no disrespect. It is very difficult for me to accept this story as is. There must be something missing from this tale. Why would the police and the community be so aggressively hostile, going so far as to harass anyone helping the boy? And what kind of meth- addicted, on the dole, gormless nutter abandons their child to live rough in a cow pasture? That's the part which sickens me. Why weren't the fiends arrested for child abandonment?
LordScatlebury 1 year ago
