  • the saucer cost alot on petsmart so I'll use my own.

  • DO NOT use a saucer for your chinchilla

just observe the way the chinchilla runs, its abnormal

try running in a circle bending your waist for a very long time

  • LOL! she was goin to fast for her own feet xDDD

  • K, everyone who's saying your chinchilla will die from plastic, or wire, they're wrong. Since Amy, my chinchilla has been alive[one year, and something months] she's at least eaten 5 inches of wire. NOTHING has gone wrong. She's pooping, eating, peeing, everything normal she would do, same with my other chinchilla. I just think people get paranoid on how a chinchilla will "die" from plastic. I'm sure they can if they at a lot, but not a little. That's pathetic.

  • @woka444 Please find sources for your conjecture. All it takes is a single sharp piece of ingested plastic to puncture a bowel or start a blockage. If you're fine with the risk to your animal, that's your right, but to suggest that 1 chinchilla's lack of problems from eating hazardous materials makes those concerned about it "pathetic" calls into question both your logic and your ability to research proper pet care.

  • Umm, shutup? I didn't ask for your opinion, or logic. I know their not supposed to eat plastic..that's why I don't have it anymore. I did PLENTY if research on chinchillas, I help the pet store people..thanks. Yeah, Tiki did eat plastic and is fine. All I'm saying is people get to paranoid with me. They think their chinchilla is gonna die from one chewed peice of plastic! It's like us eating something were not supposed to, then dieing in a day, yeah right. I know how to take care of them.-_-

  • @woka444 Wow. Nice manners a second time, though I suppose I shouldn't have expected any better. Please let the rest of us know if your chin lives to 15-18 years old, like they're known to when properly taken care of.

  • @NeumeIndil Ohhh, thankyou.(: I'm not scared? OK AGAIN, I TOOK THE PLASTIC OUT OF THE CAGE. SHE'S FINE NOW. SHE'S POOPING, PEEING, AND PLAYING. They don't always die from plastic, okay? Jesus christ.-_- She's still going to the bathroom..everything normal. There's NOTHING plastic in either cage.-_-'

  • @woka444 Agreed. People are waay to cautious with chinchillas.

  • please could you tell me where you got one and how mutch it cost

    thank you :) very apriciated

  • i have a two chinchillas and i bought a 12" plastic saucer and i dont know if its good because when they run on it they have to tilt their body to the left to stay on the saucer

  • You shouldn't use any plastic products in a chinchilla cage. It's very toxic to them.

  • @Pem0r Toxicity is less of a concern than the mechanical blockages plastic has been known to cause. If a chin's gut doesn't pass food properly, it can die in a matter of hours.

  • plastic products are dangerous for all rodents! in general all normal wheels are too small for chinchillas, the flying saucer wheel is the best of all, because it's ergonomic. I have one too

  • if you still have the chins get a flying saucer wheel and not plastic. If it's installed right the chins shouldn't have to tilt their bodies to stay on it.

  • i cant find a flying saucer but i still have the plastic wheel and they have been using it for a couple months and no problem

  • Just saw this video,

so to answer ur question after a year

I asked a vet about this.. he told me

"No.... u wont run on a treadmill tilted, why would u let ur chinchilla do that"

  • thanks a couple weeks ago i got a regular wheel that my chinchillas use and i threw away the tilted one

  • @wot0wo0t The tilt increases the amount of space the chin has to stretch its legs out. Most vertical wheels are too short. If the vet wasn't specifically trained for chinchillas I wouldn't listen to him/her about chins. Secondly, people run on 'tilted' treadmills every day, but the tilt of this wheel doesn't affect how the chinchilla runs, the area they run on is still horizontal. It's hard to tell that from this angle. This is one of the best, safest chinchilla wheels on the market.

  • i wish i had a chinchilla sooooo bad

  • Is that the chinchilla mansion cage?

  • My chins are dumb, theyve had two wheels for around six months now and they do no more than sit on them. The cage i built for them is huge tho so i could try locking them in the wheels only section.

  • Where can i buy a wheel like that for my chin?

    it's so nice!

    how much did it cost?

  • It was $80 and totally worth it. I don't feel so bad if I can't take them out on a particular day because they use the wheel so often.

  • Thats the only kind of "wheel" a chinchilla should use. The other kinds are bad for there backs.

  • My chin LOVES his saucer. He is so good at it! He can run really fast and then stop and still be sitting on it. I don't know how he does it so well!

  • Hey Rachel4rent, Im debating on weather to get the chinspin or the saucer. What do you think is better and how long did it take for him to learn to run on it and does he run on it a lot?

  • The Saucer will last longer but the ChinSpin is cheaper. My chinchilla got on the Saucer almost right away. Took him about a day to fully get the hang of stopping and starting and jumping off in mid-spin. He runs on it almost always! He'll get really excited if you talk to him and jump from wall to wall all the way down to the Saucer and jump on and spin for a minute then jump back on and do it all over again!

  • Hehe... My chin had one of those but she got scared of it when she would slide off. Cute!

  • How cute :)

  • LOL. Nice video make
