While I think there is something to be said about teaching civic pride (and this includes acknowledging the world's debt to western civilization, not simply where it has gone afoul), this borders on a falsification of history.

Balance is what is needed. Neither re-packaged propaganda, nor self loathing nonsense that would have people be oblivious to the fact that the U.S.' failings (and those of "western man" in general) are common to all of humanity.
