It's a CUBE not a square. And you actually need to render animations as a group of PNGs. So you'll make an image sequence for the animation which you can then put togeather as a video in the sequence editor in Blender. This method is better because if Blender crashes during the render, you can start again from where you left off without losing any data. Oh, and if you want to render HD, You need 1280x720 (for 720p) / 1920x1080 (for 1080p).
You are so right! This kid who posted the video doesn't know anything! Everyone, listen to someone who is a professional! For example, blenderguru(d0t)com
DAMN IT... another worthless TUTOORIAL! even I know that you need to render your frames separately and then put them all together in a video. That way if your computer crashes it will render up to a certain N-numbered frame and the next time you start rendering you can start from the N+1-numberd frame... With your way dear sir ... in this situation I'll end up with a worthless vid file.
Same thing for me! I just did png and it did 225 pictures!!! Thanks for the info about how I should do AVI raw!!! I'm rendering it to AVI as I type! So I'll submit as soon as I figure out if it works!!! : D *waiting* *yawn* This is taking--- : D It's done! *pause* It work!!! : D : D : D thanks so much for the info on AVI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People that do 3D for a living always say two things.
1. save often, and have more than one copy
2. Never render out as video , always render out as a Sequence of images . That way if it crashes when rendering you don't have to render the whole thing you just render from the number in the image sequence it crashed on. take the Sequence of images put them in an avi and add sound.
Hey lakercoolman click on your and window and click SHIFT+P well that's what it is in Linux Ubuntu. I'm not sure if it's the same on Mac or Windows , because I just use Linux Ubuntu, and Linux Mint...
i cant render current frame, cuz when i push ALT+A and my mouse turns into that black squre so i cant render current frame... so i push ESC and then F12 and its blue...HELP!! thanx
accually, you do wanna have png or jpeg files, because if your computer crashes and you render a movie, you will love every frame, and if you render pgn's then you can start at the part that the computer crashed
HELP ME!! when I render current frame with my output folder as /tmp, I render it and I go to my /tmp folder, and it is not there. I have tried using other folders as an output folder, but it just won't show up?! what am I doing wrong
@MasterOfMist In the render settings window, in the top left underneath the word output it should have something like "/tmp\". There should be a folder button next to that and then you can choose where you want it to save, but it will also save renders there.
@CDFfilms Go into the Shading tab (f5) and then go into the World Buttons tab which looks like Earth. Then click the top right box out of the 3 boxes in that section. It should be the sky colour.
In the render options in the 'animation' window the default length is 1 to 250 frames, just edit this length (start and end values) and you should get what you need =)
wait, I did everything you said, set the size, set on AVI raw, saved it and rendered it, then I looked it up in finder and found the file but it was still a .blend file and when I clicked it it just opened up the project in blender...
when i render i render as avi raw and then i open it and it sais that the video player does not support this tipe of video, then i tried opening it up in vegas and it said wrong filetype. what do i do??????
what if i wanna render a single frame as a picture? can i just click render animation and he'll make a single picture (if ididnt make the cube move) ? or does it depend on the format? help please
well i hope you no that you can just press esc and then close the render frame. you dont have to close the whole program. well atleast with the version i am using.
Under the tab "output" on the scene panel (usually the main panels with the render buttons, the "output" is usually located to the far left). it should have a path labeled "temp", this puts it in a folder on your C: drive labeled "temp". Point this path to a new area to specify output location.
im a total noob got this thing today so how do i like rotate the cube that appears when u start it looks like if u ask a 4 years old to draaw u a cube
if you mean rotate the camera so you can see it in 3d, hold down the middle mouse button and move the mouse. if you want to rotate the actual cube, have it selected (right click it) then push 'R' and move the mouse

Just so you know, instead of closing all of Blender just to stop rendering an animation, you can hold down the esc key.

Under the tab "output" on the scene panel (usually the main panels with the render buttons, the "output" is usually located to the far left). it should have a path labeled "temp", this puts it in a folder on your C: drive labeled "temp". Point this path to a new area to specify output location.
