ggbbryan has it correct with the outer ring of the GPS style map which contains a section dedicated to your current known felony (designated with a blue ring) and the green ring which subtracts and flows through being green (healthy) through to red (very wounded). And yes you can die on a fairly green health. For this to happen it's usually something like a shotgun blow to the head at a medium to close distance (if the coppers are lucky enough to hit you this well).

About the red sights, usually what i do is if it doesn't turn red i circle the camera around really quick so it can acquire the target and it works every time, but if u have tommy gun then theres nothing to worry about :)

gta kind of style driving is so simple, dont use hand brake if you dont know how to (because it socks) and slow down before corners releasing gas and of course press brake, after braking start turning your vehicle and you will have no problem driving, if you master that you can start to do some preaty cool tricks while running from cops even using your hand brake.

AI is awful. E.g. get cops chasing you for having a gun out/shooting. While running away punch a random pedestrian and then the cops will forget you have the gun and tell you off for street fighting instead (also the guy you hit). Also you can stand in a bush and shoot people and cops will never find you.

I never like Mafia, even though a lot of people said it was great. I think the reason for that was the beginning, you were pretty much thrown into a car chase and controlling the car was a real pain. This looks a lot better for new players, which will most likely mean that a lot of people will play the game longer.

wasn't that impressed, it's GTA in the 50's... i know demo wise it's all chopped up well it says at the start. But.. meh. I'd prefer to grab another game and red dead as preowned again than this. Couple of framerate issues on PS3 demo, none on PC. Lots of clipping because of the models used which move like heavy rains much more beautiful models. A "meh" game all around. Cars handle well for the period though... 7.7/10. Nothing grabbed me, most of the stuff has been done better in other games

TotalBiscuit, clothing actually does effect your character because if you commit crimes dressed a certain way they will look for a character of your description so changing your clothes helps get them off your back
