I've just cottoned on to Australian railways on YouTube and this video looks great. At a guess this is probably a special, like us, we don't have regular steam any more. Shame!
WCR run trains between Melbourne and Warrnambool but each Saturday the first down and last Up services were run using steam. This when on for about four years I think during the winter months.
if west coast railways atleast had of kept gonig, ATLEAST had of kept everything in orginal paint schemes and NOT refurbished the Rs, yes they would have been the ultimate private 'for profit' railway company in all of australia! -a profit company that had everything a tourist railway would want and they ran for profit the BEST
id have to say for a railfan, west coast railway was one of the best private rail operators in Australia, with S's B's and the R class on occasional revenue services!
you could get suburban trains go to geelong, you could catch a v/line train to geelong, or you could catch a westcoaster train to geelong. OR stay on the coaster to go past geelong obviously. Good times.

no actually it wasnt a special i think if i remember correctly it ran every day but not the steamer every day!!!

If I remember V/Line went from Melbourne to Geelong and West Coast Railway went from Melbourne to Warrnambool
