Italy: Dub

Germany:...both? I'm leaning more towards dub but they're both OK

Japan: Dub. No contest at all

Brit: They're very different voices so...both.

France: Dub

Hetalia dubbed is really good and fitting (although Japan´s accent sounds weird to me), but nothing beats the original.

Italia: One of the best seiyuus - Namikawa Daisuke!

Germany: Oh, so deep voice.

Japan: The most soothing.

America: Sounds like a... well freak that he in some way is.

Britain: Just unique

This is one of the few exceptions I make to actually see these episodes in english. The script was creative and actually had an awesome touch of "personality" fit to the modern english language. An awesome sense of humor that I actually find more hilarious than just reading the translated subtitles :D (even though I am fan of original japanese voice dubs.) As already stated, through their accents, it fits a lot better :)

I really liked that everyone had moe voices in the JP version (cuz hey, girls need fan service too), but I agree that the goofy voices, accents & off-the-wall writing makes the English version funnier overall. So I fan the JP characters but watch the English version for its comedy. Though since UK is made of sexiness, no voice but Noriaki Sugiyama's will do for him. ;-P

That said, France in English is perfect! Great voice & accent, and he KEPT both the personality & moe-ness of the JP version!

To me, I prefer the original for every single character. Here are my thoughts on dubbed version:

Italy: [FAIL] Annoyed the crap out of me!!!

Germany: [WIN] Great job! Best dubber in dub version

Japan: [PASS] Nice voice, but Japanese accent does NOT sound that way!

US: [WIN] Dubber did a good job.

Normally I hate dubs b/c it sounds horrible and you can't take anything seriously, but for Hetalia, I absolutely love them xD Its a series watched purely for comedy, so there is no need for 'cool' voices or what not, the funny accents just make it that much more funny xD Plus, the english version does put in more history in their script in a really funny way - sometimes the jokes are almost hidden, but if you do get it, it's so hilarious - I felt the script was much better for Hetalia's purpose.

Something I admired about the dub is that it didn't give a fuck about making everyone sound 'smexy.' It focused more on making the voices FIT. I also prefer the writing in the Dub because it's a lot more intricate. Who cares if they didn't sound all kawaaaaiii desssuuuu? America sounds like an ass in the dubbed, and in the sub he just seems cute and clueless. I like Russia's da, and China's aru in the Japanese. And TBH I can't understand half their accents in the English (and I HATE the sounds of American accents, which I can stil hear even when they do the accents...no offence to Americans XD considering I am half American...)

I'll have to admit, the Funimation Hetalia dubs are not as horrific as most other dubs out there.

That being said, I still prefer sub. The dubs are slightly different from the subs, and it makes me think they're alternating the meaning, which I don't like.

@peacekitty34 I love this. They "slightly" alter the wording from Japanese, and it makes you think they're altering the meaning. What meaning is there to be altered? An average episode of Hetalia runs about five minutes and contains... historical in jokes. Those are still there. The only serious plot developments I've come across in the first two seasons are the segments with America's flashbacks and Switzerland finding... Liechtenstein and those were all handled well.

@peacekitty34 Sure, there are sentence changes, some word changes, but those are to be expected. Japanese is not English. There are dramatic differences in sentence structure and expressions. For instance, replacing England's "baka" (which I have seen translated as any word under the sun to refer to someone as an idiot) with "wanker". Or having Canada call England and France "hosers" (Slang for "white trash" or something similar). The meanings are still essentially the same.

I had watched the first few episodes subbed, but decided to give the dub voices a shot and fell in love. Drunk England is hilarious.

Italy:Dub. Accent is so cute, but Japanese is good too.

Germany: Both, they both fit him so well.

Japan: Both. Both are so refined! Japanese is hot, Engrish is adorable!

America: Dub. Japanese voice is a bit annoying, and his English voice sounds more heroic XD

England: Dub, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the fact that his Japanese voice sounds like Sasuke Uchiha, plus the dub has the epic accent! ^^

France: Dub. The laugh is so much better.

Russia:Both. Sub is innocent, Dub is Evil

Personally, I've always preferred the subs. Mainly because english dubs always seem to be yelling their lines.

And they always cast the same. god. damn. voice. actors. for. the. main. characters. I swear. It's always either Todd Haberkorn or Vic Mcnuggets D:

The overall winners for me are:

Italy: Dub, simply for the accent. Some of his lines are excellent too.

Germany: Dub, same reason. The voices are... really quite similar, so the accent clinches it.

Japan: Dub.

America: Dub dudes.

Russia and China: A bit iffy here. I love both, but they're sort of at a deadlock.
