  • awesome camera angle! totally able to see how the stylus tip moves on the surface!

  • @eggimage lol

  • @GreenApplesAlli you pay once and that is it

  • Where did you find it for $10? I'm only seeing it for ~$20, +S&H.

  • @DocReeg ebay

  • does the dagi stylus work well with screen protectors and invisible shield?

  • @TheNomad22 no it sticks funny

  • why a glove ?

  • @techeveryday so I don't draw on the screen with my palm. I drag my hand a lot, this prevents me dragging and drawing by accident.

  • Why do you wear that glove, I am starting to get back into sketching and was very curious.

  • @JoLOveS so i dont draw on the screen with my palm

  • Where did you buy that glove?

Can you get it with finger tips?

  • Which one would you recommend for signatures on documents?

  • Is it posible to use wacom pen on the ipadd ?

  • @maatonne no that would not work

  • Ok, I gotta ask, I just ordered the Boxwave Stylus right after watching quite a few videos demonstrating that it does indeed beat the Pogo one in regards to sketching. How does the Dagi compare to Boxwave's?

  • @Agdody I will do a review once it arrives as I just got one :D

  • So about 2 months ago I bought the Dagi stylus from eBay and it worked great for the first couple weeks. Then, all of a sudden, it just stopped working. No matter how hard I pushed, it just wouldn't draw anymore. So I contacted Dagi about this and they sent me another stylus. Worked great for the first week or so and now I have the exact same issue. It's really strange. Has anyone else had this happen to them as well?

  • I like the glove, you remind me of Faith from the Mirrors Edge game.

  • At home I draw on a cintiq in SBP, and I delayed getting an ipad because of the lack of a good stylus. (I'd rather use a sketchbook than draw with my finger) But I might break down & get one now that the dagi point is transparent, and I don't have to push down too hard. Is the transfer of drawings in TIFF/PSD from the ipad intuitive? Is it plug-in or WiFi transxr? Like so many others, I thank you so much for an informative video. Do you recommend as mobile platform for Cintiq users?

  • @sketchmark let me review another pen I have in the mail right now and see how much I can still suggest it as a good sketching pad. I am in love with my current motion computing tiny slate as the art on the go tablet.

  • The dagi looks like it might scratch..

  • @Caittheegreat it has a flat tip so not really

  • is it safe to use a wacom pen on the ipad ?

  • @maatonne won't work

  • So do you have to press harder with the pogo to get a response where the dagi you can press lighter for a response?

  • @indic2223 yes

  • ur a really good artist!

  • does anyone know if the dagi works on touch screen computers?!

  • do you have to keep the dagi at that angle? that would be bad because it would be diffecult and nothing like the real thing. right?

  • @CarvedFromWithin you do have to.

  • Crayon Physics should be great on this! :D Nice drawing ^^

  • Can you use the Dagi stylus to write lecture notes? I used One Note and a digital pad and pen so far. I need to know whether with a Dagi stylus and an Ipad I can replace my one note and the digital pen/pad that I already have. Thanks

  • Hi LatinVixen, I got myself a dagi and I can't quite get the correct feel/position. Do you draw with the tip completely flat on the ipad? I can't always get that angle where the created line is close enough to the red dot.

So I'm currently practicing using my Dagi and the short pogo styli. I haven't decided which one I like more since I still haven't gotten the feel of drawing on the iPad like I do with my tabletpc.

  • So,I got the Dagi, and after a day or so, I noticed really small, almost imperceptable scratches on my iPad! So I put a screen protector, but the Dagi scratches the heck out of the screen protector. I still have the protector on for 2 reasons - I can still see thru the scratches and 2, I'm really afraid to work w the Dagi just on the iPad glass.

Question: After using the Dagi a longer now, do you notice any small scratches on the glass of the iPad? I did on mine.

  • @cheechoo98 I never did but I don't use it daily. I don't put much pressure on mine so that might make a difference.

  • @LatinVixen, Well, I changed my screen protector, and the Dagi is great now! I think I bought a really crappy one screen protector before!

Also, I have the little Pogo stylus - the really small one.. and I've almost worn out the foam! So much so, that at times, I've pressed and 'scratched the screen protector with the plastic edge that holds the foam!

I guess, I can be a bit too 'vigourous' sometimes! Cheers, and keep up the great work!

  • How does the stylus work on the iPad/iPhone screen? I always try to use pens and stuff but they never work :(

  • @zionx4 you need pens that work with capacitive screens. They are a special kind of pen. Not just any pen works.

  • You really dont need screen protectors on apple products since they are made with a special screen which is scratch resistant. To the people that dont already know this -_-

  • @LoliciousXD WRONG!! :D They are only more scratch resistant than say, a typical cell phone. But they actually get scratched up just fine, and even quite deep sometimes. But I can understand the desire to go commando if you plan to use your iPad for such purposes.

  • @LoliciousXD not if you don't wan't smudges. Matte screen protector. go to MTPflyer's channel and find the sgp vid.

  • i just got the lil pogo one and the i was wondering with all the pogos do you have to push down real hard to draw with???how bout the dagi did you have to push hard or can you glide with it?

  • @grim36 pogo yes you need to push hard. The dagi it just glides.

  • Is the accuracy directly on the red dot???

  • @Spikeball2k9 yes

  • niice...

    :)

whats the name of this program again.???

    :?

and the same one is on the iphone.??

    :O

  • @hellboy6661234 ye on iphone as well. Just use sketchbook pro or brushes.

  • I've now tried both the Dagi and the Pogo Sketch. I'm not an artist, but for purposes of writing on the iPad screen, I strongly prefer the Pogo Sketch. The Dagi is so slick and slides too easily across the screen, while the Pogo Sketch provides some nice drag/friction. Also, the Dagi must be held at an angle that is awkward for writing: if you rest your palm on the iPad like you would if you were writing on a piece of paper, the Dagi won't work well.

  • Does the DAGI work for the Motorola droid or is it just for Apple products, i need a stylus for my droid and since the apple and android screens are temperature and electrically triggered i was thinking if this stylus could work for the droid?

  • @MsHornPlaya same sort of screen, so yes it will work on the droid.

  • oh wow, i never actually thought using a a glove :-), so stupid. Great review

  • Do you use a screen protector if not do you think the stylus will work as well with a screen protector fitted?

    Thanks

  • @rayandjoanne I had a protector on at first and the stylus wasn't working very well :(

  • @LatinVixen , ok, thanks for the reply.

  • Dear LatinVixen,

thanks for your review on the DAGI stylus, it is very helpful :)

ya 1 question: on the head of the Dagi stylus it is a transparent plate with a red dot located in the center, which suppose to act like the 'touching point' of this stylus, Does it work? meaning does every of your stroke start from the red indicated dot?

  • @GSQcartoon yes pretty much

  • Are you using a screen protector? Just curious if it effects how hard you have to press or if a screen protector causes more lag. Thanks.

  • @sofiercedotcom screen protector was causing too many issues, so took it off.

  • Good review. Do you know how the Dagi works for handwriting/notetaking? Can you write fast with it in a note-taking app (or in Sketchbook Pro)? I ask because handwriting involves lots of fast squiggles and direction changes, and the Dagi has a flat tip. Also, with regard to precision, do you find that strokes start exactly at the dot in the center of the plastic tip? Finally, do you find that strokes fail to register sometimes (I find this happens a lot with the pogo). Thanks.

  • Hi, great artwork. When using the dagi, do you have to have the tip flat against the screen or will it work when slightly tilted?, obviously when tilted the dot on the tip won't be flush against the screen.

  • Thanks for the good review.

What version of Dagi are you using?

  • are you a professional artist and would you get the modbbook ?

  • @chubzzy15 I have tablet pc's which are like modbooks just not mac based. I have a mac at home but it is not my main art computer. I mostly use windows as more art programs work on windows.

ps: modbooks are way overpriced for what they are in my eyes :/

  • Hi Vix...You mentioned tht it can be exported as a psd file. How high can u set the resolution at....300dpi (may be)???

  • good reviewn thanks.

But you mention that the Dagi's tip is made of "hard plastic", or at least of a harder material than the Pogo. Does this mean you can end up scratching the screen of the Ipad with it ? If you use it a lot for drawing I mean. ?

  • @Nawona nope, the part is a flat plastic. You would need glass or something much much harder to make scratches on the screen. The dagi is harmless to the ipad.

  • @Nawona the ipad also has an amazing screen durability. watch the "ipad stress test" yes water and dropping it destroy it, but he took a 20 openny nail to the screen and it did nothing. nore did a scotch brite sponge which usually ruins anything.

  • Hi Latinvixen, do you use a screen protector? Would you recommend using one for drawing on the ipad?

  • @fvig2001 screen protector makes it worse. I used the zagg one and had to remove it as it worked horrendously with the pogo and dagi. No need for one.

  • i just got myself a new wacom tablet and im still getting use to it i usually use paper then scan into my computer but i saw the cool stuff people were doing with wacom so i thought heck wy not

  • Hi LatinVixen,

So would you say that the Dagi has a better 'flow' to it? Does it 'glide' over the surface a bit easier? I find the Pogo to have a bit of friction to it. Thanks.

  • @cheechoo98 no friction at all with this one.

  • Great video review btw, I bought one after watching your demo.

What version of Dagi are you using? I ordered the P501.

As a bonus they are also sending me a P002.

  • How is Sketchbook and a stylus in terms of hand-drawn diagrams with handwriting?

What kind of detail can you retain if you zoom in and draw with a fine brush, and then export?

    Thanks!

  • @tomstorey I would say pretty decent. I recommend it if you plan on drawing or writing at all on the ipad.

  • I commented on your other video and then found this one :(

Which stylus would you recommend for note taking.

  • @djlurulez120220 probably this one, but is is a matter of taste. I have both and like both for a variety of different things.

  • I am having a hard time finding the dagi on eBay. Help, please

  • @trusoljahs they pop up from time to time.

  • Great review, Vixen... I'm gonna get this one.

I'm subscribing, too. So... I'll see ya!

  • Dagi should pay you for upping their sales. This vid convinced me to purchase one.

  • Getting my iPad on monday so this is really helpful. If anybody in the UK want to go three ways on that Dagi, shoot me an email! :)

  • Ur a great drawer

  • considering buying an Ipad pretty much for the purpose of sketching. I will use it for other things I am sure but I had no interest in purchasing one until I saw your videos on drawing with em. How difficult is it to draw with the stylus? It is not particularly precise I hear. Is this a huge problem or just something to get used to? Do you think the Ipad is worth it based on its drawing capabilities? I cannot afford a high end tablet so this is the next best thing it seems. thanks.

  • @yanorei you might want to check my newer video about the really cheap slate pc I got on ebay compared to the ipad. It might be closer to what you may want.

  • Nice video. Thanks for the heads up about another pen.

Though I can't help but wonder if getting an ipad is a waste if I have an ipod touch >.>

  • @KiyokaMakibi depends on what you want to do with it. If you have a purpose then no. But if it is just another gadget that you don't know what to do with, then probably :)

  • @LatinVixen

I think I do have some purposes. My laptop is heavy beast, and isn't really suited for being on my lap. Typing on the ipad is a breeze. So I'd love to write my stories on it, and do some art.

  • How is handwriting with the Dagi?

Does the flat surface make it awkward at all?

  • @simondsaid not bad at all

  • Thanks very much for this really informative video. I bought a dagi on the basis of this and I'm very impressed. I was wondering what sort of glove you were wearing though. I'm finding an old sock with the end cut out isn't really that effective!

  • @odylih just a one dollar garden glove from walmart I cut the fingers out.

  • this thing scratch the screen ?

  • @Pistolero3 not at all

  • @Pistolero3 no

  • do some new vids

  • @goofydoober55 I do when I have time.

  • hows the battery life on the ipad?

  • @otaku8489 fantastic

  • i cant find where to purchase only 1 dagi stylus they come in packs of three

  • @stallion112884 they pop up as single ones here and there on ebay

  • Ahh I just ordered a pogo after seeing your other videos. This DAGI looks like a great alternative. I will have to try them both out...

  • They might want to change the name before marketing it in Australia.

  • LatinVixen great job my friend loved the way you calmly show us how good both work. thank you again

  • umm... do they have different colors? and how do u have brushes? if so do u like it on the ipad? and how much did sketch pro cost?

  • The angle of the tip on the dagi makes me nervous that it would snap in a bag. Is it solid? And thanks for these videos!!! It makes me excited about my future iPad purchase.

  • @PrestoMovie12 I find it to be pretty solid.

  • Nice i really wann this thing on my desk :>

  • thanks for sharing!!

  • thanks for makin this video.. great review.. and i really like the clear tip.. allows you to see exactly where you're drawing.. you think it would be easy to use in a handwriting, note-taking app? and really nice drawing by the way!

  • @YUPnNOPE I don't see why not :)

  • if the Dagi has a hardened tip, wouldn't it scuff up your screen over time?

  • @hypersapien no plastic does not scratch glass, specially flat plastic like the dagi.

  • @LatinVixen For me it looks like the Dagi also has a sharper edge, what about that?

And what about the Stylus pen, above the tip it looks like as if there is some metal. Couldn't that part scratch over the screen, if you push too hard or if you hold it in another angle?

  • @Feroc666 you really have to go out of your way to scratch the screen with either.

  • I'm completely sold. Thank you again for telling us about the drawing ability of the Ipad.

  • how is the print quality??? can u do a video on that? especially when u print with color... and would you change your opinion about the ipad if it has weight sensitivity?

  • @williamalvarez If I want to print anything I just email it to myself and print it from there, so just fine.

If the ipad had wacom sensitivity it would make this one of the best tablets out there. But at the moment it does not, but works just fine for me.

  • looks weird isnt a regular tylus like the ones for wacom ?

  • @Pistolero3 no that does not work, as this has nothing to do with wacom.

  • Right on.

  • I love the dagi :) but im still having trouble with the whole drawing thing on my scetchbook.

  • I think I'd like the pogo better

  • @Lengi123 I like both, but the dagi takes less effort when gliding on the screen.

  • Just watching you draw is great enough for a subscription. I can't draw for crap myself, (I'm not very skilled in art) and I'm only 15, so yea, I couldn't get any pro things to use other than a paper notebook and a pencil :P Your artwork is great!

  • Also, I use Cintiqs. They're nice, but certainly not all they're cracked up to be. Not pinpoint accurate, but still fun. The iPad will not replace them in the finalization phase, but it will replace them often in the sketching and composition phase. Nothing like having a digital canvas that portable. I hate being stuck in an office. Also, you should check out Adobe Ideas. Free! Vector based, huge canvas, capable of print res (but it's in the early stage). Different, but certainly worth a look.

  • hi,

    love the video.

What is the ipad case you are using? it looks nice!

  • @jerrymcneive The one they sell at apple the original one. Not very pretty in my opinion but it does protect the machine very well.

  • Haha, the tip reminds me of one of those mirrors the dentists use

  • how much did you buy that for?

  • @DISASTERFOX2 for around $10 on ebay

  • @Likota1986 same here , I wish it had wacom.

  • Cool sketches. You look badass in your weightlifting glove :) You're the second person I've heard say the Dagi is better than the Pogo Sketch. By the looks of it that's just hard to believe, but I'm kinda interested now. Looks so clunky. How accurate is that dot?

  • @ArtByJamesThornton I had seen people using it on their phones and it looked odd. My husband was not convinced either, nor my friends. I got it to test it out and I find it much better than the pogo. You don't have to press as hard, and way more accurate.

  • @LatinVixen Well I'm glad you did a review. I'll give a try :) Apple has filed a patent for a capacitive stylus capable of not only fine point drawing, but also pressure sensitivity and tilt. The patent is lengthy, but innovative. Filed jjust this year. Sketchbook Pro has been in the top 20 most sold apps since the iPad release, so the customers have voted on what they want the iPad for. It may actually surface :)

  • @ArtByJamesThornton have you heard any new news about that this year? I know they mentioned it summer of last year but have not heard much more.

  • @LatinVixen Yup. The original was filed in '08. On Jan. 14th of this year they submitted modifications & a new illustration. I'd link but it's youtube. The patent goes into detail of why low res capacitive sensors are great for finger input, but not for pen input. It explains a few solutions, one of which involves bluetooth communication of pressure and tilt, and also an electrical charge in the pen tip. Sounds innovative, let's hope it surfaces. Peace, keep sketchin' :)

  • @ArtByJamesThornton Oh God I hope so, tho there are slate laptops with wacom pens now with actual pressure sensitivity, the Ipad here does not have pressure sensitivity and I would not want a digital sketchpad without it. Tho none of them run photoshop well (or at all in Ipad's case). If they are doing what you say, and the next gen of Ipads have that that would sell me on the spot!!

  • hmm I'll probably get this though it'll probably when Apple comes out with the next version of the iPad (saving my money). Overall I'd say that depsite it's wierd looks it seems to be pretty uesful.

btw that pen kinda looks like one of those tools they use at the dentist lol

  • now I need a drawing table

  • @arykehS a cintiq just works, no real need to show it :) they are amazing

  • I want a iphone D: I would be so mutch easier to draw...

  • God, you make someone who has no interest in the iPad or Apple want one of these pretty badly.

    Also, Nice voice btw :D

  • you're really good at that

  • I think the tip being transparent is quite nice. Makes more sense the more I think of it.

  • O.O Well... dunno if that was an audio glitch or the editing program you use just being an ass but the audio wavered a bit from loud to soft for me in the beginning lol but good video otherwize :) The Dagi kinda reminds me of those dental mirrors that the dentists use to see behind teeth :P

  • @reddreamer yeah my video camera has done it before, unsure why, sorry about that.

  • @LatinVixen Hmm... what kinda camera do ya have? I know that mine seems to have gotten the old virus that my computer had :/ shuts it off randomly now x.x

  • @reddreamer sony webbie HD

  • @LatinVixen Ahh I use a sony handycam dvd thing not sure if I can ever get it fixed or not :/ but hmm... gimme a PM with the program ya use maybe that's whats goin buggy o.o

  • I really like the Pogo, but the Dagi seems a bit easier to work with - I'll likely order one on Ebay. It seems like the tip on the Dagi is plastic, can it easily scratch the iPad screen?

Thanks for taking the time to post all these really cool and educational videos on how to sketch on the iPad!!

  • @ESUNintel I have been using the pogo for the last 2 years and loved it. The dagi is weird, I mean it works really well but it does take some getting used to as it looks odd in your hand. The tip is hard but flat, so scratching the screen should not be an issue. I ordered a screen protector to avoid any scratches just to be on the safe side :)

  • How long can you sketch on the iPad before the battery runs out?

  • @pestr999 quite a few hours

  • thanks val for showing me this :D

  • @DomoInUrRobato no prob, trying to help others with their decisions when looking at the Ipad for art or any of the stylus out there.
