  • Good video. But to the person who remarked on the salt, um... When your on the go at very high activity levels salt is very important especially if meals are scarce. As long as there is ample water to drink.

  • It's rare that we see someone who can actually boil potable water with lo-tech. Excellent video. A funny aside, my dad tried cooking with an aluminum skillet on a campfire made from pinecones from New Zealand pine trees, and *melted* a hole in the pan. Pitch burns hot, evidently.

  • This thing is called "jätkänkynttilä" in Finland. They prepare these "candles" with a chainsaw quickly.
