It's actually how strong characters are made in the first place, because the people that made them get attached, and go deeper into their personality, how the talk, how they interact with the wrold, etc. To find that stupid is to find every book, movie, or game writer stupid. Also, people are free to comment what they want to. Sure, you can argue against it, but in the end what harm does it do to you?
