Well, the first airbus was obviously on ILS approach, you could see were the computers were flipping it side to side trying to keep it in line, an Emirates pilot i know told me in crosswinds like this they like to land the aircraft and not use the fly-by-wire.

I was actually on a landing like this once, there was some sick ground turbulence too, so we were weightless quite a bit during the final aproach. He missed the first landing and had to go back up, on the way down the second time people started screaming. Was pretty scary. On our way out of the plane i saw the pilot talking to one of the stewardesses, and he was laughing frantically and seemed sorta euphoric. Guess his pulse was pretty damn high :D

go arounds could be a pain for pilots because alot of time the controller will tell the pilot to enter the published holding pattern. however when a go around may be needed no pilot should hesitate to do it. go arounds are free vs. lives are not, and even if it does not harm any passenger or personel on the aircraft it may very well do damage to the aircraft it self.
