How about scene safety? Wouldn't be nice to perform first-aid only to get hit by a car.

If you can't get to the wound, just cut the pants away with your sheers. Irrigate with water, disinfect, place a gauze pad on the wound (with vaseline-dressing if it's a abrasion) and secure with a elastic bandage. A window-dressing stays on for about 2 seconds with a kid.
