Or you can do what the guy in the europe did, who was a pro btw. Basically get any continent that gives more then 2 per turn and then simply camp all the while making sure that the ausie camper dont get all of asia.
Guys the only time the guy with australia wins is if their opponents are stupid lol. Everyone gangbangs ausie if someone starts doing the ausie camp-asia conquest.
Only 1 way in yes, but basically you simply let whoevers closest just go for broke against ausie and not attack them from behind untill their almost done.
And once theres a new person in ausie, simply let the person that chased them there do the same thing.
I always start with Europe. It may be hard to hold onto, but proportionally, it gives the best troop bonus. North America may be easier to defend, but Europe has much better offensive capabilities. Just as long as you don't get overzealous and keep building up defenses, the man who controls Europe usually wins the game.
Statistically, Australia is the best place to start by far. Out of 26 games the player who started in Aussie won by a landslide. North America was the worst.
However, I myself would still prefer South America, or even Europe. South America offers options to expand into N.A or Africa
Europe is a pretty interesting continent, and you need diplomacy to prevent attacks. If you take it and hold it, congrats. If not, you're pretty much screwed.
The Yellow's Australia Strategy is one I have used and won the game with many times....start off by putting all of your tokens at the set up on the places on the Australian continent that you own, or half there and the other half if you own China.
Then systematically take over every place in Australia, Siam, China and India and build up your armies.
Next proceed to conquering Africa. Trust me on this, its easier than going straight for Asia or Europe. Plus from Africa you can hold off Europe.
Most people screw up when they start off with North America. Usually you can get away with taking it though if the others are busy with Asia and Europe and Africa, but you have to do it in a few turns and then put enough people in Central America not to attack but to keep others from jumping you. DO NOT TAKE NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA RIGHT AWAY! Makes you a bigger target. Instead build up with your five extras and then go right after Europe first, and a place with plenty in Asia.
My strategy is to take Europe. Surprisingly effective. Even though it has many points it can be hit from it has a good posistion on territories from Africa and Asia.
my strategy is to take australlia and have a good number of troop in s. america then attack n. america with my troops as I gain +4 every turn + what I would normally get anyway. If i'm unlucky and don't get dealt good terretories I try to trade cards to get either n.america or africa. the reason i don't like starting in europe or asia is because it leaves you wide open and people can attack from every direction, it doesn't end well
You're correct, Asia is the suckiest one to own, even if it is easy at times to take, keeping it and getting extras from it by your next turn is next to impossible without a huge reserve of tokens.
Personally, I have never gotten less than 2nd in a 6 player game with my technique of getting Australia and then fortifying while others duke it out and then attack everyone.
I've heard lots of other people say that.. especially since australia seems to be in the corner of this particular map, it only has one direction of entry doesn't it? very advantageous on a tactical standpoint.. this game looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I might get it.
once i was playing with 2 of my friends. I started in south america and expanded to africa. because i had to defend africa 1 blue took most of south america, in brazil. red was in australia and a bit of asia. blue also had asia, there was no struggle for asia. they tried to get me out of africa but i defeated them all the time lol. eventually they teamed onto me and i lost a bit of north africa and west africa but i retook it! Then i kept strengthening and took the very lowly defended asia.i won
everyone says to take australia! BUT a better place to start off with is south america! even though you can be attack from 2 ways its is a very easy place to expand on! EXAMPLE. taking north america and africa. expanding into asia is just to hard there are to many ways to be attacked from
thats what i did, but then i realized getting all of northernam america and stocking up near greenland or on greenland was the way to really win haha. i dominate like that now
I'm gay because of my ingenious implementation of Napoleons staggered line technique? It worked against the Austrians and Russians, and in risk it proves to be a flawless strategy.
Australia makes a good base of operations in creating an empire. You have only one front coming from Asia and as long as you take Siam, you have a buffer zone. Next take China and India on separate turns and just keep building up your forces. One territory per turn, do not use too many men to take it and avoid spreading yourself too thin.
Wait till you can get some good cards and then you go wild.
For a sure thing, put some men in Europe and Africa, not many but enough to delay.
haha when i play this game with my brothers it usually lasts like 2 days. and we get right mad at each other as if we're actually at war..fun times all around in the land of nothumberland, where the seagulls eat your teeth!
I USUALLY SUGGEST U TO GET AUSTRALIA.. THEN STAR CONCENTRATING YOUR FORCES ON SIAM.... THEN YOU KEEP ON REINFORCING AND CONQUERING ASIA.... the rest is simple massacres. Once I got 100 troops :D
th best straegy is to capture australia and south america early. do not let some one get north and south america, and gradually expand, or you risk spreading yourself to thin
and id have to say i like europe best. if you can try and ally with whoever wants asia (as in they dont attack you and you protect thier west) its a great spot
I win often and i go for either south america or africa. Usually there is a big dispute over australia early on and many lives are lost. I try to stay out of it and build elsewhere.
that is more of an amature move. It is a good defensive position, but the lack of points it gets you, makes it not worth it. My stategy is to take south africa, there are two choke points(brazil and Mexico) that you should stack your soldiers in. I know mexico isn't in SA, it is it's choke point tho and it'l kep anyone from getting NA. Take a bit of time to build up, then break out and break to another choke point every few turns. It works everytime if done right....unless you have HORRIBLE luck
good call but it takes time to take SA when you are first putting your men down. I think the best thing to do is first take austriala and then SA. then in the final push take asia from austrial!
I challenge you on a risk game! I have never lots. I am like the motha fucking gangus Kahn
I always have trouble with austrialia. Doesn't provide enough troops and everyone expects it. I've never played anyone that expects me to take South Africa.
grats to yellow for not throwing in the towel and actually playing to the end. normally when i play and one guy is impossible to beat and is blatantly going to win everyone else quits. nice vid.
I've NEVER finished a game. EVER. One time my friends and I played for like 2 and a half hours and we only defeated one. So we decided to call it quits. Of course, I was winning. :)
I love how there isnt really a best continent to try and control. In the end you might not even be in the one you owned anymore, and either dominate or get your ass kicked
yeah but usually when someone owns australia they end up fortifying it like its their stronghold while the real war goes down in the rest of the world. Usually the person whos left standing in the rest of the world has only to crush the pussy in control of australia as the last step to VICTORY!!!1!
Nope, it's an EASY two points that you capture on the first turn. And people who dick around there the entire game are retarded, but these are few, because most people with half a brain stick a bunch of units there and then take eastern asia or Africa by Siam, India, Middle east. Or move by an unconnected country, like some random claim in america. In 50% of the games I play, the earliest aussie wins.
i used to have the video game on the ps2 and id take over australia, then work my way through asia and just fortify on ukraine, siam, and the middle east. then id build up troops and take over.
i was laughing the whole time because of how many troops yellow put in austrailia and green comeing out of nowhere taking over half of the board AND i was suprised when yellow died
Cool vid. I like Risk II (for PC) better than the board game though. All moves and calculations are of course done by the computer making it much faster. Not to mention, the "Same Time" feature is a fun, more realistic angle of gameplay. Cheers!
and the starting units? how does yellow (the only colour i can see very cleary at the start) have about 10 units on western austalia? its 1 army per 3 countries you hold
You start the game with a certain number of armies (specified in the rule book). You must put at least one on each of your starting territories (as specified by the cards you're dealt), and the remainder can be placed where ever you wish to fortify. In this case, Yellow decided to place a pile of his starting armies in Western Australia. From then on, at the start of each turn, you get one army for every three territories you hold (as you mentioned).
i swear u guys were playing wrong, how did u end up with so many starting units. and it looked as if u picked the countries u started with instead of being dealt out cards. and also u looked as if u were moving all your armies after u took a territory. the maximum ur allowed to move is 3 which is the max number of dice the attacker can roll. so when green was marching through those territories i swear he wasnt ending his go, he was just pwning everyone
You can start by either going around and picking countries until each country has one troop, or you can deal the cards, either way will work.
No, you can move as many troops as you want after you take a country. If you roll 3 die, you have to move at least 3, but there is no maximum ammount of troops that you can move, you just have to leave one in the first country.
If you ever play with chain fortifies, it IS a good idea to keep a land bridge to australia, just so late in the game you can send all your crap to Eastern Australia when things don't look so good and pray to God that you'll stick around long enough to get a trade in...But then again, that's with chain fortifies, otherwise its a futile strategy...

Tip dont ever play the future risk me and my rommate played and in 5 hours nothing changed on the map Its To CRAZY
that or were both just realy good players or we both really really suck
Smalley123 4 years ago
Most people that are skilled at risk can keep the game moving (so yes it is because you are rubbish).

Nice idea;
Just play the game in the corner where no one will touch it and it won't interfere, and play it whenever you get the chance.

my games are always 3-5 hours long, lucky you!

If you ever play with chain fortifies, it IS a good idea to keep a land bridge to australia, just so late in the game you can send all your crap to Eastern Australia when things don't look so good and pray to God that you'll stick around long enough to get a trade in...But then again, that's with chain fortifies, otherwise its a futile strategy...

its hard to tell, but it looks like green took out most of the world in one turn, then yellow went once and then green finished him off
rofltube 4 years ago
Yellow did spread himself out to much, then green OWNED him! ha ha.
RaiderFan92 4 years ago
were you playing where each trade in combo is worth more than the previous one?
personally i hate that version, it gets way too ridiculous...
nice vid!!
rogganmaster 4 years ago
Yeah, that's how we played... but we cap it at 30 rather than 60 so it doesn't get too out of hand.

And once again the early try at holding north america fails.
Start with australia , it's only 2 extra but early on its an advantage that pays off
