RIS stands for Robotic Invention System. RIS is a set created by lego for users to create highly different creations. RIS has RCX in the set. The RCX is the big lego thing while RIS is the name of the set. So STFU.

It's possible to make faster arms than this with the RIS, NXT is definitely stronger though.

yes, I've made pretty fast arms with the RIS myself, but nothing in comparison with NXT...
if you watch my videos, there is no way an RIS arm could match the speed of a direct drive NXT arm.
