Hey Hubert!! Here's a random question a la Zi...in the photo at 2:42, do you recognize anyone? I mean, there's some serious Mary-look-alike action going on there...but do you recognize anyone else?
That's one amazing picture. I have no idea where it comes from. Anyway, if you want to play a game of look -alikes, that fine lady on the right would be Mary, obviously. The man holding a bottle of scotch in the front row, would be Kris, and the ridiculously good looking man on the left would be .....me I guess. I wouldn't know who the two other people would be though.
Umm... this shouldn't be taken so literal, but I see a sort of gambit (a kind of tricky sacrifice) being played in order to gain a strategically advantageous position, eventually leading to the capture of a piece or two, and a couple of advanced pawns walking up the board. I also see the king (why, a girl can be King, yes?) becoming active instead of tucked away in a safe corner. All signs of an exciting endgame.
When a pawn advances all the way to the eight rank, it gets promoted, i.e. it can become any piece (usually a queen). Endgames often revolve around this.
you're right, i'm still quite a bit confused as to all the facts and events. i'll just sit back and watch for now, and i think you're gonna have to dumb down the story for me!
