@Parkster175 he didn't die! they just couldn't afford to produce the show anymore. there's a new reading rainbow in the works, though, with LeVar Burton still at the helm =)
im 14 and i love the 80s when my parents tell me stories about it, but for some reason this intro makes me want to read now if they had a show like this they would prob put a stupid animal singing some POP song or try to be "Gangster" and dont worry guys im black/italian but anyways it would make kids turn the channel idk why they think all kids like Rap Hip Hop and POP it just makes them change the channel and the shows the kids do watch are fucing retarded they dont learn at all
@Dicklle34 Yeah but if you go on here and watch the wack ass intro you will see so many other people saying its the best. what the heck do they know they must be too young that one sucks...they should have never changed it.
@EntrepreneurLoveJr And just lok at the like dislike comparrison its no contest. they have half dislike and then some likes when this one has hundreds of likes to only a few dislikes
Beacuse of Reading Rainbow I am an imaginative person who loves to read and I will forever be thankful. Too bad kids nowadays don't get to experience the magic of Reading Rainbow.
sooo why hasnt anybody ever written a book, about a butterfly that seems to bend the fabric of time and space, to create things out of know where? i know id read it.
LOL I tried to read, but because I was Hispanic growing up in a all white school I was discouraged from reading , or being allowed to be in book clubs. Sad
i forgot all about this show until i heard a song with a similar pulsating intro. now the memories just keep comming back to me. RhettandLink do an awesome job at this too! 5 stars for the memories!
when I was young I thought Lavar Burton was actually blind (from his star-trek character) and that him being the host of a children's reading show was some kind of wonderful irony, like even a blind man can enjoy the magic of reading! lol
XD My dad used to watch Star Trek. He laughed so hard the day I walked in an shouted "It's the guy from Reading Rainbow!" at our television screen while he was watching it.
This song brings me back to kindergarten. I just had a flashback of chocolate milk and Nilla wafers...we used to watch it during snack. That was a good...15 years ago. Wow. I loved this show :D
man damn i really didnt watch tha show unless i was bored but i rememba the words 2 tha song like it was yesterday damn i could cry sittin here rememory tha 90s 92 tha year i was born

i always thought this was the gayest fucking show. now i watch it and learn new things--but i still can't seem to unlearn saying that the show is "the gayest fucking" thing.
Oh right, I forgot! I kinda only watched it for a year ('93), then I moved to another place where I didn't get the signal... oh well, guess what's best is that way. Boy, it's too bad that kids these days don't get the kind of stuff we got to see.
Oh wow! I love the old theme with 2D animation better than the new CGI one.
I still remember the 1st episode entitled: "Three by the Sea" - but I can only recall the ending. I hope it's posted somewhere here on YT.

Great educational show. I remember watching this in first grade in like 92 or so. They don't make good educational shows like this anymore or ones with catchy themes like this either.
I was always freaked out by the thought of a cartoon butterfly tearing the fabric of reality and turning me into some ugly-ass Thomas Jefferson character or a neon astronaut.
