I just discovered this song today when I went to the vinyl store for the first time and since I wanted to listen to a Quincy Jones album, I took this album by random and took this album to one of their old vinyl radio system and then played this song on by random. When I heard 1:05 the amazing melody had stunned me and made me buy the vinyl. Now I have this song on vinyl and I love that tune a lot!
I am only familiar with the Quincy Jones the dude album because I love the songs on there.
This is an extraordinarily good song. So good, in fact, that when I was just fourteen, I vowed never to forget the title. Now I've found it again, 32 years later, after such a long time. But music, in those days was, of course, so beautiful. What we have nowadays is, well you know what it is, don't you?
I always saw this as the finale to a 1930's Broadway Musical, where all the shows stars come onstage along with the chorus and hundreds of dancers, along with the orchestra on stage on a revolving bandstand. In fact the whole album concept struck me as being a 30's show, down to using the 1920's Martel Brothers sculpture on the cover.
if you listen carefully to the background singers, you can hear Luther Vandross too. This is a great song and album. I purchased it in 1983 and still have it today
This is a wonderful song...spent many nights dancing to it back in the late 70's. Had the album on vinyl and wore it out !!!! Quincy Jones is an amazingly talented man.
Sho' You Right! Even as a young person, I loved the big band sound packaged in a r&b venue. I loved everything Q did since this LP. I really loved the fact he could get great artists together to make good music. That's priceless then and even now when you think of the way things are now.
He used big band arranging and gave it r&b flavor. His musical vision was unmatched. He has the mind of Duke Elington and the heart of Aretha Franklin. Great combo and says why he is one of the greatest American composers.
1 person never had it?

I'm yet to find a single thing Q did that I don't love. My God, such a beautiful talent... Full of grace and elegance.

I danced to this song many nights back in the late 70's and it still sounds just as good today as it did over 30 years ago.

I'd have to say: "I'm Gonna Miss You in
The Morning" (Luther & Pattie)
"Tell Me a Bedtime Story" (Herbie)
