I like Chris...he's an atheist conservative ( he wants small gov....as well as economic freedom) he is also an ex marxist. He is from europe where the Islam is taking over. He has his reasons for his views. I for one agree with him. I juat hate the religious conservatives. They are a walking contradiction, and have confused folks on many lvls. Where in this video clip did he say that? Hitchens is a republican, extremely conservative & hawkish when it comes to Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. He didn't use the word conservative. He may have been referring to Chris Matthews, Bill O'reilly or Joe Scarborough's shows but I think not. He isn't British, not since April 13th, 2007. He is an American & he's usually correct. Last conversation/argument between Hitchens and Wilson was great, but I think Hitchens destroyed him. Wilson had nothing new what many others have offered. @ColdCypher hard workers would be at the very top of the system... i just want to get rid of all the bushes and hiltons who are stupid yet still at the top... 52% tax means a person with 60,000 a year gets 30,000 plus about 3,000 a month, then a rich guy that makes 600,000 gets 300,000 and 3,000 a month (i cant do the exact national math in my head) but the hard workers stay rich, the stupids spend their money, and no one starves or murders for food... you would be richer with less paper bills

Especially in places like New York and California where the cost of living is already sucking the life out of people to the point where they pack their bags and leave. @ColdCypher the tax rate could be 100% and people would still pay it in new york... you just have to make sure you spend and give people what they expect for their money... 52% tax is nothing when you get basic monitary needs from the government plus an expanded amount of healthcare, education, and infastructure services... people dont mind paying if they get somthing back

It will never happen because you are specifically targeting the political class who control ALL of the levers of power incidentally. We dont live in an ACTUAL democracy. Once you become a part of the federal government at the higher levels, you are clued in FAST. If you arent, you dont get reelected lol.

@wildboy789789 Even IF you were able to impose a 52% flat income tax on the whole American population, you would HAVE to include housing as being supplied by the government entitlement funding. Which would lead to all sorts of problems. Like how much the government would be expected to cover PER individual. It would be so infinately complex that legislature on the subject alone would incapacitate the system. As for the 100%, NOBODY would pay that lol. Thats HARDCORE communism.

@wildboy789789 All you need to do is look at the result of the Soviet Union experiment to discover where that policy would end up EVEN IF it were to be imposed. Not they it ever could in the US. The neo cons racked up the national debt in an attempt to get the New Deal repealed. Which if anything, it will be come shortly. We have 20$ trillion of debt through entitlement that the government doesnt have through the next decade and a half. We cannot sustain this runaway spending.

Last conversation/argument between Hitchens and Wilson was great, but I think Hitchens destroyed him. Wilson had nothing new what many others have offered. He seems to be a bit more open minded though, and less arrogant. More fun to listen to as well. I'm betting Hitchens will "win" the debate simply because I haven't heard him lose it and say anything irrational such as an equivalent of a religious person saying that atheism causes atrocities (I disagree with that).
