  • Cat Stevensin laulamana parempi mutta ihan hyvä tämäkin. :)

  • Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the world Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven Like the first dewfall, on the first grass Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden Sprung in completeness where his feet pass Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning Born of the one light, Eden saw play Praise with elation, praise every morning God's recreation of th
  • What a lovely voice!

  • "Morning Has Broken" is a Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words from English author Eleanor Farjeon and is set to a traditional Gaelic tune known as "Bunessan".

  • @rick1vols That's so weird, I believe what you wrote as if it's correct but I just watched a video of a guy named Wakeman that tells a story of how he was with Cat Stevens when they created his version and he never mentioned any history, just talked about how they put it together and created it together as if they created it. Now I'm totally disappointed, feeling ripped off and duped.

  • Very nice !

  • I ONCE DREAMED THAT A HAMBURGER WAS EATING ME!!!

  • Wonderful song with a beauty Natasha Marsh

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL !!

  • who is the original composer or writer for this song?

  • This song is great. Last Sunday I went to church and there we sang this song in the german version (Morgenlicht leuchtet).

  • LINDA CANÇAO,E ENTERPRETADA POR UMA CANTORA ECPCIONAL MARAVILHOSA..........

  • Beautiful in both sight and sound!

  • This song is beautiful.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Holy heavens, I just heard an angel sing Morning has Broken. I like the original, from cat stevens (eventhough he didn't write it but covered it. But this is way the best cover of this song I have ever heard. APPLAUSE

  • Frida Lyngstad's (the brunette of ABBA) version is WAY better than this one.

  • nice song

  • Bonkable blonde, naff music, "religious" background = a cynical exercise in parting you and your cash.

  • Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam didn't write it either....it was written in the 1800's and has been done by many singers...(though the Cat certainly put it on the road map)

  • Good voice, better in bed.

  • @1tealove

genau...und DU kannst das beurteilen....Du tust mir leid, wake up boy...

  • @Nervenseger thanks for that, I understood every word.

  • Preciosa

  • Beautiful arrangement, beautiful voice, beautiful knockers, beautiful song. A heavenly classic.

  • she has such a beautiful voice, why have I never heard of her before

  • she is all right but that strange accent is so weird!!! yusuf version is so natural, pure

  • it's a cat stevens song (yusuf islam) ... just beautiful !!

  • Not by any means a classical soprano as labeled- her tone is much breathier than a classical sound. That being said, it's beautiful regardless!

  • i love she!

  • She's beautiful! I wish my wife would look like her!

  • @999EdgarSlipKnot666 uhm, you better hope your wife doesn't watch this haha.

  • Lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon

  • An angel.

  • what a beautiful voice!!! one of my favorite songs :)

  • if she knew what she was singing about it would be good. technically proficient soulless music like this has inundated the world and brought art to its knees, or lower.

  • This is wonderful. Any other songs she has done?

  • Absolutely wonderfully sung :)

  • Wow, her voice is so beautiful. It's nice to hear this version.

  • that the voice you want to wake up each morning..beautiful

  • Try Zsa Zsa's female Version its more angelic

  • standing in a church... (one of Gods houses) and dressed like ... ehm well, yea, not properly at least

  • @Alexdebeste - strictly Adam Eve were naked in the Garden of Eden. Would you rather completely unclothed? After god never intended us to be clothed, at least until God was disobeyed. Only pious extremist nuts get so worked up about something so trivial.

  • I would defo put one through her

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank you, Natasha, for an absolutely beautiful rendition of a very beautiful song. Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) would be proud of your work here.

  • Beautiful!

  • So beautifully sung!

  • simply marvelous....God has not religious....GOD IS GOD...SIMPLY SO...

  • love it

  • The song was actually written by an English woman Eleanor Farjeon.

  • This is so angelic.

  • How wonderful she is!!

  • What politics have to do with this great song and performance!! Music belongs to everyone! Cheers

  • wonderful vvvoooiiiccceee!!!

    love it!!!!

  • don't you people know that cat stevens didn't write this song?! The music is based on an old celtic song, and the words were written by a british poet.

so NO it is not written by an 'american muslim'.

  • Great song, great rendition of it by this pretty girl. A pleasure to enjoy. I don't think it is necessary to pick about who, what, when or where unless there is some point to it I have overlooked.

  • Exelent version of Cat Stevens song.....

  • that is just beautiful.....

  • Nice video, nice voice but... is not Cat Stevens song.. is Natasha version.

She is pretty like an angel and this helps a lot ...

  • Gorgeous voice. I love this song..

  • Simplicity and beauty at its best.

  • Wow, her voice is great and she sings wonderful. But, sorry guys... I think that song just works with the voice of Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam...

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Elegant. Graceful. Angelic voice.

  • an pure angel

  • fit would love to iron her out

  • It amazes me that even on a video intended to enlighten one that someone ALWAYS has a negative comment.

I feel if you don't like something then hit the "don't like it button" and LEAVE.

This type of song should be off limits to CHRONIC You Tube trolling complainers.

    They don't like the Sounds,Color,Tone,Voice,Music,background,ethnic origin, pronunciation,looks!.

If God put a Video on You Tube no doubt some of these people would find fault.

Thank You for this I&most normal folks LOVED IT!.

  • @lovdanig

Many thanks for you comments. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments!

    Thanks again

    Gerrit

  • @lovdanig God DID put videos on YT, in fact all of them. Assuming you believe everything is made of the essence of creation or, if you wish, "God." But I agree with you that some of the people on here with their negativity about virtually everything are ridiculous.

  • @lovdanig Well said! Cheers!

  • @lovdanig 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.'

  • @lovdanig: Great comments, exactly my feelings, but unfortunately the whiners continue to troll YouTube. Countless from the time of your comments to my comments, and very sadly there will be countless afterwards. My suggestion, don't respond to it but do give it a THUMBS DOWN. This is the best way good people can show their disapproval. The comments will not show if enough good people THUMB IT DOWN. Remember, we're stuck with bad and boorish behavior when good people do nothing.

  • @lovdanig Beautiful music to build an affection and emotional bond to irrational ideas. Without this sort of thing the ancient myths we hold so dear would have been abandoned long ago.

  • @lovdanig

What is also amazing...........is that most performers at this level APPRECIATE each others talents......Not tear them down.

Most of these complainers just HIDE behind a computer and spouting off their nonsense.

I've never listened to Natasha Marsh before.............I listen to Mirusia Louwerse, Sissel, Charice, Lara Fabian, Mary Jess, Jackie Evancho, Sonya Yoncheva, Julia Novikova, Hayley Westenra and many others...

Natasha Marsh has an extremely BEAUTIFUL voice !!

  • @katzparov listen to Nana Mascouri, Judy Collins, and Sara Brightman and Eva Cassidy and Enya and of course Connie Francis.

  • my favorite. awesome! she is so fresh but there is someting missing. I mean Cat St. had something special about how he sang this.

In any case I love it.

  • look at the production..its not authentic like his performances

  • Very Sweet!

    Wonderful!

  • she has a beautiful voice...and I like her dress ^^

  • The first song I learn as a child and one of my 8th grade Catholic school teacher's favorites. Given Cat Stevens' situation, I wish we can put our religious intolerance aside and rejoyce in the spiritual understanding of humanity.

  • Wow... I usually don't enjoy women singers that much, but this was amazing.

  • Wonderful...

  • Her singing is a lot better than that fool's grammar.

  • i want you to sing this on my wedding day when i marry you

  • PS) She might be "british" but she is actually Welsh and perhaps her accent is very heavy from where she comes...but still she should try to leave it to the side if its going to sound correct like I said before about the good tunes that actually MAKE THIS SONG.

I may be born in England but not raised there but in fact Sweden and had no contact with relatives from that side can even do a better accent then that.

  • Sorry, what are you talking about ? Individuals are singing with passion and emotion, and individuals have tiny personal types of "accent", every one of us. Freddie Mercury for instance was born in Sansibar, so what are you talking, that he "must" learn proper English to become a century singer ? Excuse me, but it makres no sense.

  • Im sorry but she should learn correct pronounce first before she tries singing in English even if she is quite good but she looses the really good tunes that Cat Stevens made this song to be.

Plz someone tell this poor woman this! If she doesnt do these tunes as well and correct its just another song and she is just another singer.

She does everything else correct so why loose the most importent ones?!

  • Flamingjune20: WTF are saying. You are critical of Natasha's pronunciation of English when you cannot even write it correctly. Your grammar and spelling is horrible. She speaks and writes English better than you ever can. Some needs to tell you poor sir (or madam) to STFU. Further the lyrics and melody was not composed by Cat Stevens. He actually stole the version he recorded from Rick Wakeman, an English keyboard player and composer. The original version of this song is a Christian Hymn.

  • She is an angel straight from heaven.

  • I like the Vision by Cat Stevens more, I can sing like this, too!!!

  • This was not written by Cat Stevens. Sorry.

  • Hello,

As far as I know, Natasha Marsh has no connection with The Netherlands! She lives in the UK and originates from the land of songs, Wales.

If you have any information about any Dutch connection, I'ld like to know!

    ====

  • Woops made a misstake, wanted to say British, but wrote Dutch. You are right sorry. She have no Dutch link.

  • @Maasdam1993: Excuse me, just which American Muslim wrote this song, it certainly was not Cat Stevens. This song has always been a Christian Hymn and it was first published 1931, way before Cat Stevens was born. The original lyrics was written by Eleanor Farjeon, an English poet. I agree Cat Steven's version, which he stole from Rick Wakeman, is the popular one, but again he did not write it. Further Natasha is Welsh, born in Wales.

  • sorry..but when he wrote the song he was a christian...then became muslim...

  • @Maasdam1993 not to mention the song wasnt even written by him. man get ur facts right

  • @Maasdam1993 It's an incredible set of nonsenses you wrote: "one song written by an American muslim", (1)Cat Stevens was at that time, early 1970s, a Christian, not a Muslim; (2) He's a Briton, not an American; (3) He did not write the song, the music comes from an old Celtic song; (4) the lyirics by Eleanor Farjeon, a British poet.; (5) Natasha Marsh is Welsh!

  • @konradvalladaresv Thank you for the info. Cheers!

  • @Maasdam1993

Cat Stevens, a Muslim, may have performed this song, but he did not write it. It was written in 1931 by Eleanor Farjeon, and English author.

  • @Maasdam1993 hey moron... this is an old Christian Hymn...

  • @southernvt

and an even older scottish folk song.

  • What a wonderful voice, to say nothing of her radiant, celestial beauty and gracefulness. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that she's an angel from heaven. I just discovered her and watched a few other clips. She's terrific.

  • Marvellous !! Thanks for posting ! 5*****

May Jesus Christ bless all creatures great and small,

    Amen, †♥†

  • this church hymn reminds me of Psalm 19 which of course speaks of God's wonderful creation- - the God of all that creation power can obviously take care of me, His re3deemed child -- Praises be to His Name! Thank You Jesus!

  • no.

  • FABULOUS !!!

  • beautiful in every conceivable sense of the word

  • To mehrzadegol: I agree with every thing you said

  • Mr. Cat steven is no longer Cat Steven

  • Cat Stevens ... Cat Stevens...Cat Stevens <3

  • The last I heard Mr. Yusuf Islam was denied access to the US as of 9-22-2004

  • to tongw7393 :

I liked the man he used to be before he left for a long ride with his demons and I deeply regret what

has happened to him, while he thinks following a

totally free choice. Never the less he still is a talented artist ... lost in the space!

  • Where have you been?? AMAZING!!

  • lovely

  • i had never heard of you until now.

you are amaziingg !!!! and so pretty

  • Beautiful voice, Beautiful Lady!

  • fit

  • this song is amazing...

  • Amazing voice!! Here's to Natasha Marsh's success!! Cheers!

  • This songs has brought tears to my eyes! You have a new fan!

  • Ho w funny when aryan means to the Nazis "non-jewish" Aryans are actually people from Iran. Funny since this is a cat stevens song and he has converted and now a blond woman singing it is called an aryan. When in truth he has become a real aryan

  • Actually aryans were blond haired blue eyed people, not simply non jewish. Though I'm really not sure what your comment has anything to do with the song or any other comments made...Also, from the way you word things how can anyone convert to being from Iran? My only knowledge of what they're called is Iranian.

  • In my view, Morning Has Broken transcends the religious divide. I don't appreciate attempts here at politicising this. Therefore, thumbs up to sweetsoul86girl, and thumbs down to lloydsk for introducing references to the Nazis.

Tell me lloydsk, you aren't sympathetic towards the ugly anti-semitism of the Nazis, are you? And you aren't sympathetic towards the ugly anti-semitism of current-day Iran, are you? And you aren't trying to suggest that Cat Stevens is an ugly anti-semitist, are you?

  • "My only knowledge" is correct- a common mistake. People think aryan started with hitler who twisted things to his advantage. Take a look at an online source such as wikipedia to gain more knowledge:) My comment was in response to a racist comment that has obviously been removed. Also Alot of Iranians are aware that they are aryan and it is alittle insulting for them to ba associated with hitler..

  • The nazi's twisted a great many terms and symbols of a variety of religions and origins, whilst aryan may not have started with Hitler it has become it's general meaning, words do adapt and change with context over the years and what it may have meant as far back as 3 or 4 hundred years ago isn't really relevant any more.

You may want to consider finding a better source than wikipedia for your knowledge, it is a very poor source to learn from as anyone can add their inane interpretations to it.

  • I challenge you to find a better source than wikipedia for a most complete descriptions of most often terms.

  • I have no idea why people rated this comment so low. I can't see anything offensive 0 ti makes sense. Meanings of words change. Language is fluid, so we must be careful to make our meanings clear.

  • Yeah I have no idea what was offensive in my statement, I was only speaking the truth about what happens to language over hundreds of years and really wiki is great for some basic knowledge but it's not a primary source and quite often has incorrect information.

  • Reminds me of primary school assembley loved this song ever since cracking voice

  • Wow. I thought she was just another soprano to pop out of the woodwork, but now that I've seen that she can sing, AND SING BEAUTIFULLY SHE CAN...

... I'm going to buy her album next time I see it. Lovely version of this song by a lovely voice.

  • Great voice, but Cat Stevens still wins, same with anyone else who does First Cut is the Deepest, in my opinion

  • This is singing like an angel..............

  • Beautiful voice and cute woman.

  • ooooo you like her!!!!

  • Lovely rendition and it is gratifying to hear that she gets the word "re-creation" correct in the third stanza (many singers -including Cat Stevens - do not!)

  • Her voice is amazing!

  • Check out the YouTube video of Natasha singing O Holy Night. O.M.G.! Pure beauty and artistry!

  • Wunderbar,vielen Dank dafür!

  • lovely

  • An Amazing voice gorgeous version of this song love this song
