That's not true. Many things in the Unix world have still yet to be taken to either one. In fact Mac OSX was created around Unix in its popularity and innovation.
Simple common things such as multiple desktops have been around for a long time.

Apple didn't go down because of their operating system. They had a bad lineup in hardware and they had bad marketing.
And Microsoft was ecstatic to be one of three companies to have that honor. (PFS & Lotus were the other 2) Steve Jobs put Microsoft on the map by that invitation.
Actually Apple did go down because of their software. It was crap, pure and simple. Their operating systems were junk and offered no real competition to Windows untill OSX came out which turned it all around.

Two things are saving MS. Two reasons why MS has more marketshare than Apple. Windows was able to take control of the PC market because Windows is on every non-mac computer and that Windows 95 came out at the right time (This is also probably why the Ipod is the market leader in mp3 players). Second, MS has a monopoly on office productivity suites. However, if the average Window user would actually use an Apple product for an extended period of time, I'm sure they'd want to switch.
I would almost agree with you that MS has a monopoly on office products, but from what I understand, many NYtimes journalists and bloggers are switching to iWork... Pages is a GREAT alternative to MS Word and Keynote in my opinion is WAY better than powerpoint... as for spreadsheets, I don't know.

The bottom line is that Apple has more taste and goes above and beyond on their designs. There software is more productive. Their architecture is more productive. You look web pages designed with Windows based machines and software versus Apple designed webpages and you will see that the pages are more updated, better designed, cooler looking and more taste. The reason: it's easier to design a cool webpage on a Mac than a Windows machine. Period!

yeah, it's funny to watch the windows users squirm... they don't realize apple writes all the rules, while they just get to play in our world.
the whole game thing is because of john sculley in 1986 when people were calling the mac a "toy", so sculley put the brakes on mac game development, now everything has switched and the PC is now the "toy"... kinda funny.

I actually prefer it this way. PC people bashing my choice for being a Mac user because all I have to do is laugh my ass off when every time a new Win OS comes out there is a whole new goody bag of bugs and shoddy development. Vista of course is the biggest waste of peoples money since Windows ME.
Sure my Mac has crashed but was due to 3Rd party software sending crapped out instructions to the OS X kernel, hence kernel panic. For the most part, its not the hardware or the OS. Windows? Fuck off!

First of all, you can run AutoCAD on 512 mb's of RAM just fucking fine. No program today really needs 64 gigs of ram. I don't know of any motherboard that allows that much ram and again, you would never need it. Oh, and i know that you aren't a professional, because you only have 1 favorite. A video of how to get any Adobe serial. You're fucking pathetic.

Currently perhaps, but in 150 years, Gates will be the no name since he didn't contribute to the computer industry. Jobs has the first usable "PC", the first "Spreadsheet", the first "Graphical Interface", the "Laser Printer", the "World Wide Web", the "iPod", the "Wireless Revolution", the "Apple TV", "PodCasts" and now the "iPhone" all under his direction.
What has Gates done that will stand the test of time? I can't think of a single thing, can you?

Two things are saving MS. Two reasons why MS has more marketshare than Apple. Windows was able to take control of the PC market because Windows is on every non-mac computer and that Windows 95 came out at the right time (This is also probably why the Ipod is the market leader in mp3 players). Second, MS has a monopoly on office productivity suites. However, if the average Window user would actually use an Apple product for an extended period of time, I'm sure they'd want to switch.

I would almost agree with you that MS has a monopoly on office products, but from what I understand, many NYtimes journalists and bloggers are switching to iWork... Pages is a GREAT alternative to MS Word and Keynote in my opinion is WAY better than powerpoint... as for spreadsheets, I don't know.

The bottom line is that Apple has more taste and goes above and beyond on their designs. There software is more productive. Their architecture is more productive. You look web pages designed with Windows based machines and software versus Apple designed webpages and you will see that the pages are more updated, better designed, cooler looking and more taste. The reason: it's easier to design a cool webpage on a Mac than a Windows machine. Period!

On a Windows machine, I wouldn't even think of attempting such a complex blog and Photo slideshow. Why is that? The problem isn't that Microsoft has no taste, it's that they CEO doesn't trust his own products. Why else would Bill Gates use Linux on his personal machine and openly talk about it? At least we know Steve Jobs uses iPods and Macs, so we know he has a vested interest beyond selling more products. Not to diss Bill Gates as a person though. He does great philanthropy.

On one hand, you are correct but on the other hand, you're wrong. Where I agree with you is that from the consumer's POV, all a person cares about is does the software fulfill their needs. However, where you are wrong is overlooking illegal business activity. Let's say, for example, a company was committing murder like coca cola did to a union leader in mexico. Which you overlook that? Maybe some people would but I would certainly condemn it...
