who the fuck mistakes a british accent for a kiwi one? I can understand mixing up aussie with kiwi, but british...you dozy twat. I have a lot of respect for American actors, some absolutely brilliant ones. Britts do, I feel, punch above their weight in big films, good actors. moreover in stuff like Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings an American accent doesnt sound authentic, funny how the american is associated with the modern world and is avoided even in fantasy historical pieces

@Griff6784 I don't forgive Aussie with Kiwi at all. We sound completely different from the Kiwi's It'd be like saying Americans and Canadians sound exactly alike. But yeah very few British Accents sound even remotely Kiwi.

Actuallly there are also many American accents: Southern, New York, Boston, Wisconsin, Valley girl California, and neurtral like the newscasters do. I am always amazed to find out a character in some TV series, like House, The Mentalist, and BSG are really English actors with Brit accents and how well they do American.

Aussies seem to pull it off better than brits. I'd think that Kiwis would do the best US accent. Don't know why. The brits have it easier than us. They only have to learn one accent to learn American, which they see on the tele and at the cinema all the time. There are hundreds of british accents that Americans have heard. After watching a British TV show, it's difficult for us to decide on one correct british way to say a word or phrase. No wonder.

Brits do all right, but it's usually obvious that something's off. House's accent sounded fake from the get go. No American talks like that. Same with true blood. Every once in a while, Bamber's real accent reveals itself in BSG plus he seems to be constantly trying to control his voice. The words come out funny. He does better than I would at a brit accent.

@danthemanfresno2006 Of those you listed only Renee's accent was came close to barely passable, and even then woudln't stand up for real scrutiny. Don Cheadle in particular had one of the most horrendous British accents ever put on film in Oceans 11.

Im sure there are plenty of American actors who have done a great accent, but I cant think of one top of my head - maybe Streep will pull it off for her Thatcher movie...who knows.
