don't dispair...there are good, smart people working to fix things. What we should worry about is what's in our power to do something about, what we choose to help with...so, I guess what I'm saying is people should choose something specific they feel passionate about and devote some time to it...me included...I gotta start spending less time online...sigh.
Dear FunnyGaijin, it is good to hear someone else telling people if they are so upset to do what they can themsleves to help instead of just complaining. And all problems cannot be solved by one person or one generation, it is not our place for one thing. People have to solve problems themselves to some extent.

People do care. You yourself are proof of that. Now, instead of concerning yourself with what everyone else is or is not doing, find out what you can become active in instead of just crying O mea Culpa. There are alot of oppurtunities out there to help.
That takes courage and I commend you. Remember to look up all the facts in whatever endeavors you undertake. It is altogether too easy to latch onto an ideal and not see the forest for the trees so to speak. Take care of yourself and don't burn out on a cause. I talk like a mom because I am one. Pace yourself.
And remember to find positive examples of activists and organizers who've been successfull and learn from their mistakes and failures and see which ones still had lives and which ones gave themselves to their causes and passions. And that people are wonderfully complicated. Find the ones who inspire you and keep them close.
A book to help you get ahead of the game. Read Judas Goats. It outlines what happens to many well intended movements when they gain traction and start to show strength to affect change. Certain elements will try to infiltrate undermine and oust the original founders / advocates and steer the mission astray. Good luck in your quest. Seek knowledge and critical thinking. It is your best weapon to correct what's wrong in our world.
If this is what you think, I hope you are a volunteer with Planned Parenthood or Green Peace or some organization where you are actually helping instead of just playing the con card of appealing to people's emotions by making statements like that. Maybe you'll live in a so-called overpopulated area & live like they do & understand the social-relgious system. While I don't agree we are like parasites, parasites are an important part of the permaculture you are sacred-cowing.
