  • Hahaha "I dunno who had the other half, but here's this one". That made me laugh. You have a nice sense of humour.

  • @LittleJeannie - Hi! Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm always finding 'half' of something left in our kitchen! I think it's my kids' attempt to help me stretch the food budget! It's thoughtful, and smart, but it also forces me to get creative to actually USE the odd haves! (o:

    Thanks again!

  • Sorry the giant delay in my reply - we've been on the road and busy lately!

Thanks for the compliment. He's pretty terrific so it's a good partnership!

Got any ideas for saving $ that we don't tipically do here in the US? Care to share?

  • Have never seen an American woman that tries to save anything, accept things for herself.

You are a treasure, your husband is a lucky man.

Sure happy I got rid of my wife.

  • I eat so much fruit in my house and fruit salads are always a great way to make the most of what u have. especially since you can make more expensive fruits go further by just putting a couple pcs in. I have fear of those weird grapes...lol..my hubby always yells @ me for tossn them but i cant help it..lol....its nice to see that u are so frugile....i thought i was alone....except for the grapes thing...lol...ill work on that

  • I go to the 99cent only store here in California for all of my produce and fruit. I get great deals. They even have strawberries, bananas, black and blue berries. I cut the stems of the strawberrs, slice the bananas and bag & freeze them all so that I can make smoothies from them later. You can also cut up the veggies and onions n make soup and freeze what you get tired of eating. I just opened a half gallon of milk that I had frozen. Got it 4 99cents! woo hoo! sometimes eggs too!

  • Great place to get those! I wish we had one close by.

Thanks for sharing that 'place to shop' tip along with what you do!

  • I wish i lived in the US. We couldnt dream of those prices anywhere else in the world!

  • The bargains mentioned by the other viewer are not too usual....milk runs about $3.89 a gallon here where we are in the US.

Not too many fruits (unless home grown) under $1.20 a lb here either....so it all depends on what's on sale and where you live, I guess....

So where are you? What are prices like there? It even varies in the US as you can see.

  • I live in Southern Califonia. Heavily urban area. I think there are alot of food distributors here and packers, which is why the store near me gets so many veggies and fruits, but my mom lives further away & they don't get as much. I suggest buying tons of in season fruits and veggies as they come and freezing them and perhaps pureeing ones that won't last well- great 4 smoothies. But there will be a food shortage most likely to come so store food now. Be creative, prepare. Blessings & Peace.

  • SoCal has some great fruit stands and such too - if you can find them and the grocery stores DO have way more fresh produce than most out east (lived in SoCal a while too). Amazingly, I've found rural areas don't have the same access to the quantity and variety of the larger communities. I guess growing their own means not a big demand.

Yes. It is ALWAYS cheapest to buy 'in season'. If you can get a chart from your local AG Co-Op Extension, they should tell you what is available when.

  • I made this last night from fruits I bought last wk and an orange and lemon I picked from my trees. Turned out great!

Thanks again for another great tip!

  • Oh so glad to hear you enjoyed it!

    It's my pleasure to share!

    Best Blessings!
