btw I've a question . do all hens get broody ? I've heard that some special colors or breeds don't get broody ever during their life though they keep having eggs . eh ? is it right ?
For modern egg and meat producers going broody is inefficient so they have tried to breed the trait out of many types. Its still there however, in some, in varying amounts. Somebirds and breeds make good moms and some not so good. This one is really good.

Roosters initiate all this sort of activity. They are quite eager every day, all day but espc. right after they're let out and just before lock up in evening.
Some hens seem to avoid them, others seem to be favorites. It's not always pretty...
