@LittleLadySweet Krauts are getting pretty fucking fat too. After world war 2 Krautland's scientific, philosophical, and artistic contributions dwindled. My grandfather killed a bunch of you Huns. If you're Austrian none of this applies.
everything here is wrong,,,, god bless america... i think he's shaming about USA. so called ''rangers'' kills unarmed family on internet. want world to have peace? why killing osama? does USA have proof on that it was osama thats where behind world trade center? sorry for this but... usa deserved it.
I learned in school in Wisconsin today that some teachers are greedy, selfish people who care more about their own personal interests than in teaching me.
I learned that it is okay to lie about a having a sickness if it gets me a chance to go protest in the streets, and that the doctor who corroborates my lie can get away with it too.
I learned Socialism is bad.
I learned all this because I saw my teacher occupying the State Capitol instead of teaching me. I learned a lot from his absence.
@George3901505 To be honest that's the idea of the song, it mocks the way children can be taught lies. It's why this song is so good. It makes me sad to think that the child doesn't really understand the world.
Pete Seeger makes me proud that I live only about 3000 miles from his birthplace. Christ we need artists like this now, as not only are we ruled politically by millionaires,we have our justice decided by how much money we have, our public artistic pleasures, like music, dominated by Corporations. Freedom, my arse.
@ibporknbean Ya got that one right! Good old Pete don't mess around. Tells it like it was and like it still is. This song woke me up years ago to the racial situation in our country. As a white kid raised in the south (Tennessee, on a military base), I just didn't know what some people we black and we weren't supposed to like them. I thought the dark folks got that way because they'd lived there longer than I had. This song also speaks to Viet Nam. I got that also.
It's really nice that you can enjoy Pete's music no matter who you are. Thanks, poster for showing us that even if you have a different ideology than Pete and Tom, you still appreciate their contributions. We should all be more like that

This song is sarcastic. Seriously.

I don't know much on the history of this, but is it purposely pointing out how children are brain-washed or is it brain-washing children?

The communist agitator Pete Seeger, whose tune hasn't changed in 45 years. His saw is getting as old as he is. "Progressive"? What a joke.
