Don't agree with you there homerbear46 (about the music), even if I remember Emmerdale Farm as a Nightmare when Swedish Television showed it every Saturday...
John barry the great movie theme writer, did a piece called "wednesdays child" from the film "The quiller memorandum" it sounds very similar to Tony hatches emmerdale theme.Barry wrote his piece in 1966.
I'm not a huge fan of Emmerdale but I watch it now and again and this was brilliant, I'd love them to use something like this for sad or really emotional episodes. EastEnders has Julia's theme, Neighbours has it's own sad theme and Emmerdale had one years ago for the plane crash episodes but this would be a perfect new one for them to use.
Hi Per, They should use your version for any tribute programme for the actor Clive Hornby who played Jack Sugden and who also passed away yesterday. I left a comment before, after what happened to Clive Hornby, it reminded me of the way the Australian Programme 'Neighbours' commerated its dead characters by having a piano version of its theme. You should submit it to Yorkshire TV. Do you have a website of your music at all.
Hey Per...this is the second longest running soap on British T.V. What's the longest? Do you plan to do a version of that? It won't take quite as long to play.
The longest soap on British TV is Coronation Street (Now going for 48 years with one of the actors still in it since the first episode). I don't think it would sound good on guitar as it is played on Trumpet although hearing Per's take on the Emmerdale theme, anything is possible
Hey, that's not fair. I wanted Per to answer. Every Englishman knows the answer to that one. It's obvious. I don't watch it myself, too busy checking out guitar videos on YouTube and watching G3 DVD's whilst desparately trying to copy them on my daughter's acoustic. I need some proper lessons.
hello! My name is Caroline and i´m from sweden. I remember when i was a child and my parents watch this on teve. Now i´m 32 years old and now i´m the one who´s watching and my children are dancing to this melody when they hear it. You play this song wonderful!! This is one of the most beautiful melodies int the whole world-I think! Hugs from Sweden!
Peo, I really, really love this piece. Any chance of putting the tab (or even the standard notation which I am slowly learning...finally!) on editionglobal? And how are you doing!? Spring is finally here and we are thawing!
i can please have rights for this for a funeral. its just i would like to steal it but not sure if i will be prosicuted. Its my mums favourite song and i would like you to let me have the rights for just one personal use. Many thanks zak
Remarkable. The original orchestral theme music on the TV show is actually quite dull and lifeless. You've transformed it into a really beautiful piece.
Thank you so much. I love this theme tune. You played this so beautifully. I've been watching the very 1st Series of "Emmerdale Farm", first shown in 1972 and now available on DVD. Could you also play for us the excellent theme tune to "Gardeners World" which back in Geoff Hamilton's day was also played on classical guitar if I remember correctly.
My wife is almost certainly watching the programme right now as I write this. Your version brings real beauty, life and light and shade to an everyday background melody that we in this country usually find mundane. You clearly spotted its potential and are to be congratulated.
this programme used to be good when it was all about day to day real country life up till about 1994 or something, with a beautiful theme tune to match, especially played like this.

emmerdale farm used to be good, about the country dream and way of life, i think the theme tune is great played like this, the present one should be replaced with this purer version, a music lovers version
Wow Peo, I never gave that tune a moments thought that it would be good for guitar arrangement! But your guitar gives the music a nostalgic element which I never detected in the original. Mind you, I am used to turning the TV off whenever I hear that tune coming on!
