The Republicans have shown that they have no respect for Senate traditions whatsoever (traditions involving what kind of Senate actions are considered right or wrong, such as endlessly filibustering everything). They are holding the political process hostage to the detriment of all Americans and they have a quality that makes everything easier for hostage-takers: utter indifference toward the suffering of the hostages, i.e. us.

What's this "certification" bullshit? What do they need to certify?! Has there been ANY proof whatsoever that allowing gays in the military has had some "adverse" effect? I've seen no evidence of that.

What would be the adverse effect of allowing them to serve openly ANYWAY? Tons of gays already serve but have to stay in the closet! Allowing them to be honest and forthright with their commanders and generals can't POSSIBLY be any worse. That's all this is about: allowing the honesty.
