  • Just replaced the o-ring in my 2003 Accord... I was quoted $60-$115 from my local dealerships to replace it.. Took me 30 secs and $1 to replace.. The noise seems to be gone... Thanks so much for the video and saving me some money!!!

  • what if the leak is coming from the back of the engine and its still power steering fluid?

  • Thanks ! for knowledge.. I'm gonna check for that O-ring, before i spend over $200 on a new sterring pump..

  • You have just answered my prayer!! You are my Hero!!

  • I have to say that these is one of the best videos of youtube :) I decided to do a similar video for a fix on a corvette because of these video. good job.

  • God bless you. I saved a lot of money.

  • Thank you very much.

I did all the steps in this video and it worked fine for me. For just one dollar I fixed my car. In the Honda they wanted to change the steering bump at USD $1000. My god, it was so easy to fix it with the o-ring!

Thanks a lot and keep uploading more videos like this one. It help a lot to many people. Blessings.

  • I've been struggling with this problem for a few years. I read about this o-ring procedure a year ago, got the ring, took it to my mechanic and he replaced it, but it had no effect. Now I know why...he replaced the wrong o-ring. He didn't read the instructions I supplied him with and opened the top (that triangular looking joint with the two bolts) and replaced the o-ring there. Dumbass. I'm going to follow this method step by step and hopefully finally put an end to this really nagging problem.

  • Puking fluid? lol!! :)

  • acura was quoting me 1100.00 to fix this problem... 1.81 later done and done.. keep up the great posts I cant thank you enough...

  • had my power steering replaced not long ago, it's been leaking ever since. took it to the shop and he said had to replace the Oring, he did and i took the car home and it was still leaking. i took it back again now he's saying the Oring on the other end of the hose is cracked and he needs to "special order it because it's a different kind than the other end." it will be the fourth time i'll have to take it in, he's charged me 2 times so far, and plans to charge me for the next visit. rip off?

  • thank you so much sr

  • I've got a question. In a '95 Acura Integra, I've got a leak under the ps reservoir. I can provide a video as to show the issue with the leak.

  • 1/4 inch swivel socket - could you please give the brand of tool you used? The knuckle on my swivel is too big - gear wrench doesn't fit or a stubby wrench wont fit as the casing for the fluid tube blocks access to the bolt. For my six speed a 10mm socket is needed but I can't find a small enough swivel - anyone have success doing it with a different tool? Brand would be helpful so I can order it please!!!! Thanks so much for this video!

  • @Mexicanadianguy... get in there with a 10mm wrench. My knuckle was too big, so I used the wrench. It took a little longer but it got the job done.

  • @trstets Thanks for getting me back out there to give it another go. Snap on 10mm did the trick!

  • i'm the 69th person to like this video.....i'm such a bro

  • I paid Someone $800 to fix the timing on my car and they messed up my power steering exactly like this.... Thanks for this video it helped a lot...

  • thanks for taking your time to do this, THUMBS UP!

1 person fails at this DYI video.

  • That will be five hundred dollars good sir.

  • I put this orange oring on my 95 civic and it didnt some to work because it still makes that loud noise what should I do?

  • This worked on my 2000 with a 3.0 V6. The setup is similar, a bit more difficult to get to the bolt is all. Thanks a ton!

  • Hello, I need serious help with my Honda accord 08, the steering pump was leaking, mechanic changed all seals inside the pump fixed it, put the pump back in, didn't flush the red oil out from the system, now there is a wooing noise from the pump while turning the steering wheel. Help please

  • Just did this repair the other day.....worked great !! Same exact symptoms and def. thought it was the steering pump !! Thanks !!!

  • Wow you are the master!!!!

  • Omg..your the man who every you are..i have a 2006 acura tl and have the same problem..first i thought it was coming from tentioning belt, but thats not it and cost me $180 and i was almost went to mechanics to day to fix the problem which is the power steering pump and i saw your video and did what you showed here and your right, thanks alot...you save me alot of money

  • What tool(s) did you use? There's no room for a standard socket drive

  • could this be an issue with different makes of cars or just specific to Honda/Acuras?

  • I can just see it now, in the future the cars will be made by Mattel and Fisher-price with air bags made by Zip Lock.

  • First give away clue is the wet resivoir. Aww, heck! Do it yourselfers, just buy the o-ring and replace it. Problem or no problem. CHEAP insurance, save a pump!

  • dammmmm i changed out a power steering pump last week on a honda for the same problem i wish i knew it was just that o ring would have saved me some money

  • How do you find these technical service bulletins if you aren't a designated dealer? Can you sign on with each manufacturer and ask them to add your name to their list? Or, can you search their website for each model and find TSB's that way?

  • @spelunkerd He' uses a verus scan tool, They can be equiped with shopkey 5, an on line reference database wich displays 95% of tsb's and recalls. There are similar programs, Mitchell, autodata etc.

  • @spelunkerd Try your local or city library to see if they have access to an online site like EBSCO's Auto Reference and Repair Centre or some other online site.

  • @sbakar Thanks, I'll do that.

  • and voila $150!

  • thats a realy shitty setup that acura/ honda has whatever happend to a direct steel line with an o ring that threads in it that never leaks ever !!!

  • @midnitesquirldog Some accountant somewhere found out that they could save half a cent on each car by making it this way.

  • @midnitesquirldog no company ever used stuff that doesnt break they would never make money

  • @kdknitro the1980's cars and back shit lasted forever!! if you had a fullsize car !!....anyways in the early 90's is when cars were made to fall apart uni body junks there non chasis cars everything was made to break now the newer cars of the 2000's era is worse !

  • @midnitesquirldog I disagree. I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6, 107k nothing broken yet. Just scheduled maintenance.

  • @midnitesquirldog i with someone would make quality stuff again, i see it and im 25 i work on boats you should see the bs i go through at work in design flaws like upside down oil filters

  • @midnitesquirldog BMW now uses a plastic sliding fitting with spring clips on their clutch lines.

  • @sbakar one word JUNK !

  • @midnitesquirldog I guess you wouldn't like the fact that the bleed nipple on the 3-series clutch slave cylinder is now plastic too :)

  • @sbakar what isnt plastic these days !!... unless its industrial engines the quality never went down in that field because it needs to be 100% reliable just like cars were back in the early 70's and back !

  • Acura P/S fluid P/N: 08206-9002

  • Nice catch, this will save several P/S pumps from early deaths. Also, it's important to always use only Honda P/S fluid in Honda/Acura vehicles, not the generic P/S fluid.

  • @sbakar I agree. Hyundai is the same way. It's expensive. $12.00 a pint at the Hyundai dealer. Go to Kia you can get the quart cheaper. Wrong fluid = possible leaks or damage.

  • @studpuppy69 It's not pretty when the pump fails and the seals leak at every connection and at the rack because someone either didn't know or deliberately put in the wrong fluid. The 12 bucks look cheap!! Do Hyundai/Kia use the same fluid?

  • @sbakar Not certain, but I believe yes. They are same cars, different names IE Sonata vs Optima, Accent vs Rio, etc. It holds 32 OZ, when I changed mine I just took off the return hose started the car waited a few seconds shut it off. I poured in 24 OZ, so basically 2/3rds of the fluid was replaced. Good enough for me. Some people believe "Fluid is fluid," I'm not a scientist but I don't want to find out.

  • @sbakar True that. I understand there is also Honda specific fluid available under the Protex brand, for example.
