  • i LOVED it as a child

  • I remember I initially didn't like this game because it was rather hard to control the car. But one day I gave it a second chance and played it till very late (maybe 4 o'clock). then when I went to sleep and had nightmares related to the game hehe. I was falling off the track all the time and couldn't control the car at all. it was very irritating and exhausting. This is one of a few incidents of my young life I still exactly remember hehehe.

  • I miss this game

  • Thanks for recording this but shouldn't you have gone 170mph over that first ramp rather than as fast as you can?

  • OMG watching this makes me want to rip my face off. WHY DO YOU KEEP SCREAMING THE ENGINE IN BETWEEN JUMPS!! AHHHH!!!!

  • this is the best ever racing game, as smooth as possible, I completed all 3 leagues/stages beginning to the end, I still have this amiga game in my archive , anyone interested let me know, amiga games rule,

  • The Rollercoaster was the best track.

Also I remember if you completed the fourth season, you got a faster car where the speedo wold go offf the end and back to the start again, but when it went back to zero the speedo line would turn white, and THEN you got some speed!

  • @pingy86119pivoter

    block is better, comment sucks.

  • @pingy86119pivoter What are you talking about, this is Amazing for its age, and only on Amiga. Gaming on the PC didnt really get good till Windows 95

  • @thatguyontheright1 c64 version was good too, stunt car racer released in the same time both amiga and c64, pc version was amiga emulated version, same code and gfx of amiga which was sucked because of pc speed problems, turbo button etc, cheers

  • @pingy86119pivoter

you are joking me, right? PC version of this game sucks

  • Would seriously love it if they open sourced the original code, so we could get a 60 fps HD version!

  • @wonea

Most sourcecode from old games like this are long lost, and even if you had it, how would Motorola 68k assembly code be any useful? ;)

  • This game is now playable online by many simultaneous players! More infos here: amigaonline (dot) forumactif (dot) net

See you soon on AmigaOnline network!

  • yeah I remember this game

  • Yeah stunt car racer was a great game! Played it for many hours.

  • I loved this game back then and I still love the engine-sound!

  • GREAT game!!

  • This was my first pc game I ever got :) But if I remeber correctly my computer was so old, it could only show the wireframe of the track.

Also, of course, PC speakers :P That engine sound drew my mother nuts.

  • @Oatmeal1400 The PC version only used EGA graphics with 4 colors. Many PCs could do much better at the time this game was released, maybe it was because of compatibilty with older systems.

  • A little bit of a grind going on there at 1:35, eh? :P

  • played this alot almost 20 years ago.. correct me if iam wrong, but was the amiga 500 on the edge with this game? looks like its running on 5-10 frames

  • What is amazing is how great it still looks 20 odd years on.

  • Granted this is an old game, but any car that can zoom to 230mph probably wouldn't have shocks that make it bounce into the air like a rubber ball.

  • Have you done a longplay of this one yet? Sorry for not keeping up.

  • yes

  • And I just saw it after I asked that question. Sorry about that. I was so fascinated with it, however, that I downloaded it. So, congratulations!

  • btw, lol. whoever played this for that vid, is mad one(lol).

    insane, bad strategy,hheh.

  • this is one of best games for Amy ever.

    interesting fact from my experiences:

if you finish WHOLE game, there is "hard" mode, but, lol, if you will finish hard mode...

    try it.

  • Forerunner of trackmania nations :)

  • why do all only know "Nations" ther is/was Trackmania and Trackmania Sunrise bevor ;)

  • Comment removed

  • What is unique, Trackmania? No, far from it

  • i mean, SCR is unique game, NO modern shit is able to copy its hardcore, NO fockin WAY, trust me.

  • Yes, SCR is unique

  • i was too young when i had this and sucked balls at it!!

  • best game ever i loved the menu as a kid ! :D:D but i was too young i fall down every 10 seconds :D

  • The greatest thing was to play this via null modem together with a friend... this was the highlight besides playing populus together...

  • Awesome friggin game..just wish there was a way to smooth out the framerate a bit. Emulator settings don't seem to clean it up more than this.

  • Oh yes!!!! I loved this game!!

  • I'll never forget this game. Played it for hours on my IBM 8Mhz EGA , LOL....

  • i used to play this to death on my ST. Same game except the sound was awful :-p

  • Why is this called "speedrun"? He's very slow, I have personal best in practice at this track 43.09, and I often get under 43.5 lap in race. (in normal league, of course in super league the times go down to 40.x with the stronger car).

He would stand no chance in super league driving like that.

  • lol at 1.31.

    oooooooooaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOoooooooooooaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAOOOO!

  • yea i like this game but spacecoke is right! i would like to play it with 60 fps too^^

  • so much time I will never get back but a great waste of it

  • This was a very addictive game back in the day.. The physics were so good - much better than many other games at the time..

  • This game was so much fun especialy when we connected two Amigas with null modem cable. I´m still impressed by how much the programers those days managed to squeeze out of that tiny CPU.

  • We have ours out at the minute :D just finished racing dad on this game back to back :D He wants to sell them but im demanding he doesnt!

  • If you dad get a to good start on you you can always try to "ambush" him. Select a tricky spot where he can´t see you, wait for him on his second lap and force him of the track. With a little luck he will destroy his car and you will win. Ugly but diabolicly fun! Works best on the second track if I remember it right.

  • Well, its not just the cpu. You have to remember the Amiga has hardware for doing vector graphics. Commodore saw this as the way to go, everyone thought them foolish, especially when games like wolfienstien hit that used bitmapped graphics. Amiga, ahead of its time once again!

  • i have fond memories of this game :)

the only thing stoping me from downloading an emulator to play this again is the poor fps though, it would be so awsome to play it with a 60+ fps frame rate. any volounteers to fix it up? xD

  • Brilliant - those were the days

  • Wow, i forgot what a slick game this was, even now it has real physics going on. Excellent work who ever made it. Let's make another version. Who needs call of duty.

  • that was a real cool game!! still remember it, was one of the best of the early years of Amiga 500 like Adidas Beach Volley, Kick Off, Space Ace, Shadow of the Beast, and so many..

  • Uuuh, yes! Far best racing game of it's time. Geoff Crammond is a genius. Still hope to see "GRAND PRIX 5" someday, that would be so great!

  • I love it wont forget bec game classic Excllent ever

  • Yeah cool, i miss this time.

  • ClaSSIC

  • OMG ! I remember playing all the time with that game!!

  • Stunt Car Racer was such a great game, and one of the first head-to-head multiplayer games I ever played. SUCH a thrill forcing my mate off the track!! ;)

  • I loved this game on my A500 and was seriously bummed that it wouldn't work when I upgraded to an A3000.

  • Great playing! I remember when I thought the graphics were cutting-edge! LOL

  • This game is really great! great memories

  • I´ve never finished it ...

  • I remember this game, my favourite track was the Ski Jump!

I alwasy kept falling off it, lol!

  • god ...i still can remember it was soo fun playin with this game :``

  • this was a tricky but adictive game. I could hardly ever win a race....

  • That shit was da bomb!!! And Crammond coded that mofo all in asm. That's fuckin HARDCORE!!!

  • definitely beats the shit out of many other racing games.

  • Today there is "Nitro Stunt Racing" on PC, a great successor

  • Damn, I used to LOVE this game!

  • Great stomach churning memories.

  • I had this game on the Amiga, remember playing a pal over the serial link

  • The person that coded the physics for this game must be pure genious.

  • Geoff Crammond...a true programming god, went on to produce the Grand Prix series. This game was awesome linked!

  • yes you can! ;)

  • Not only that. You can even link it cross-platform! Atari - Amiga. Those days kicked ass!

  • WOW! i did not know that!

  • had alot of fun on this game. Im not sure but I think you can serial link this game!

  • This game and The Street rod game was my absolute fave on the Amiga 500 ! i am truly grateful that this video was postet! i havent seen it in 13 years or some!

  • I adored this game for c64. one of those games which looked really bad but played brilliantly.

  • the top bar in the car cracks, when its a big smash a hole is punched. I got holes all the way across the bar, and they dont go away everytime i load this game up on the 500 theres holes on the bar :O

  • Would love a remake. There was a game demo on the 3DO called Orion Off Road Racer,it was a timed demo that really did nothing but let you drive on terrain but it was the closest thing I had seen to the physics of the stunt car racer cars. Crystal Dynamics got big and had to give into marketing that wanted a shooter. The end result, renamed Off World Interceptor, sucked. Then I had hope the SNES FX Stunt Race FX would be similar, but it too sucked.

  • WHAT A GAME. SUPERB

  • Well they've done MotorStorm on PS3, having played both games i'd say it's similar

  • Brilliant game. Why it hasn't been redone with better graphics is beyond me. If I were a game company, I'd be all over this...just imagine how realistic they could make the illusion of height now?

  • Surely the first game with realistic car physics

  • Beside Indy 500 and the Intro to Chuck-Rock it was the best thing to happend on Amiga !

  • amazing game for its time. the physics, the sounds, the awesome jumps, the amazing load time lol

  • Damn CubeX, it didn't take you long to nearly wreck that buggy. 8) Linking an A1000 to my brothers A500 was great fun! Shows you what can be done with a 7mhz computer. Zooooom!!

  • I don't understand why so many think that I am the one recording these movies :). The player that recorded a movie is displayed in the comment to the right of the video, and also IN the video at the very beginning.

  • This practice is rampant on YT unfortunately. It is utterly astounding.

  • This game is so hard, like all of geoff cramonds games.

  • Heh, never had the change to drive it in linkmode... does the winuae emu have the linkmode support?

  • i remember this. was totally wicked back in the days !

  • Had been amazing 3d graphics for the time. And a level editor.

  • This game rocks!

The sound, the suspension, the jumps, the holes in the frame, the fun in linkmode...

They should make a 360 version with 1 on 1 duels on XBL.

  • I played this religiously back in 1990 - wow, time flies. I don't know why someone doesn't upgrade it for another platform. The gameplay is VERY addictive.

  • that would indeed rock! hope they do but prob not a big enough market for it sadly
