  • Well, that`s interesting isn`t it Pootom, that he was told not to reply? That is why people ( me included) were upset. I love the BBC and of course, I help pay for it too. The BBC is one of the few supposedly"unbiased" news organisations in the world. Compare that with somewhere like Libya. So its really important that the BBC gets to the truth, especially when police are beating up protesters.

Good luck and well done for standing up for your Dad.

  • it is true ! I`m not targeting your Dad so please don`t take it in the wrong way but I really do care about fairness and bias. I`ll bet that when you`re older you will care too, hopefully. I really don`t want to upset you. Your Dad works in a controvertial area and he will face criticism. I`m sure he`s used to it. Can we please leave this now?

    Cheers

  • in the interview KB agrees that BBC journalists would "open themselves up to questioning on editorial policy in blogs etc". In the Jodie McIntyre story, hundreds and hundreds of people questioned the editorial policy on KB`s blog. He did not respond, at all, at any time. People`s concerns were ignored and closed down. This can`t be right. It is the opposiite of what is said above. The dictionary definition of hypocrisy is "simulation of virtue, insincerity.

  • Yes, you`ve been rude. If you read my comments you`d see that I`ve debated the issues with you and tried to explain. Only to be told that I "know nothing"! It is you who`s been aggressive. I said I respected you standing up for your __. Please don`t tell me I know nothing. You don`t know who I am, how old I am, what I know or what I do. I know you`re related to KB and are 12. I don`t dislike KB or know him. What I really care about is the BBC being unbiased. I`ll keep fighting for that.

  • You know nothing about the world. You are in NO position to to make a judgement. You know nothing about me and what I know. You are behaving like the immature child you obviously are and I would just leave it if I were you. Preferably a few years until you are in a position to make a mature judgement. Boy oh boy you`ve got a lot to learn about the world.

  • And so he should sit in his wheelchair. In this country we have the right to protest. We do not live in a police state ( yet). The Police were most certainly not held to account by BBC News, who fell over themselves to portray the protesters as "trouble makers". This was clear bias and the coverage of this incident led to the highest ever number of complaints. I don`t want to see Police horses charging protesters in my country so good for Jodie for standing his ground. Wait til you`re older!

  • Jodie McIntyre was treated with breathtaking hostility by Ben Brown. The police, on the other hand, were certainly not held to account by the BBC News team, for one of the most shocking displays of brutality seen. That simply can`t be right and, whilst we`re on the topic of bias, being related to someone is bound to lead to further bias unfortunately. I respect you standing up for your __? When you`re older you may see things in a different light. Violent police frighten me. Where were the BBC?

  • I suggest that they would say that wouldn`t they? This interview disgusted many people, not because Jodie is disabled but because it was v biased! It received more complaints than any other story ever covered by BBC news and these complaints were ignored, completely. The BBC`s coverage of the student protests was incredibly biased towards the police and Tory Govt. These people need to be held to account. I admire journalists who challenge the establishment. I wish I had faith "our" BBC to do it.

  • That is, the Jody McIntyre interview. Unbelievable

  • I`ve just watched this interview again and its just as appalling after a 2 month gap.

  • @pootom1 - and I second wonershmountain - it seems that I know more about spelling, grammar and 'news and interviews' than you do, you imbecile

  • @emmaddeningloop Thanks emaddeningloop, I wasn`t expecting this bizarre episode! But it appears our friend is a 12 year old. Perhaps the best thing is for them to revisit this issue when they`re older. I`m wondering whether this person may be in some related to Mr Bakhurst..? Cheers WM

  • @pootom1 - given that you have resurrected this two months after I posted, I would say that you were the one who couldn't drop it! And how sad that two months on all you can summon is lukewarm support for a disgraceful interview...

  • Openness, except when we are wrong, then we'll silence you and ignore your complaints.

  • What Bakhurst says here is in direct contradiction to his behaviour over the diabolically biased interview with cerebral palsy suffering wheelchair user and protester, Jody McIntyre. Gross hypocrisy.

  • @wonershmountain

Well said, flagrant hypocrisy and insensitivity - I would dearly love to see this man fired for his offensive and partisan stance on his blog...

  • @emmaddeningloop Yep. The casual, insouciant hypocrisy of the public school/Oxbridge educated elite. Do they really believe in anything at all?

  • @emmaddeningloop what an intresting person you must be? Can no one just drop anything. Ben brown was not harsh. All of the senior news managment from bbc news, sky news and itv all say there was nothing wrong with the interview. If you are obviously so much more intelligent then all senior news managment across the country then I wonder why you arent doing it? You know nothing about it. Stop making statements when you obviously know donkeys about news and interviews.

  • @pootom1 Ha! Not very clever eh pootom? Start with pathetic sarcasm. Follow that up with complete falsehoods about said interview. Then a little more infantile sarcasm about my "intelligence". Then implying that BBC journalists are beyond criticism unless you are one ( Be careful, I might be one) before telling me to stop making statements. Well, I`m not likely to do as you tell me am I ? Also, I made my comments months ago, you`re a bit slow on the up take. Now, run along will you.

  • @pootom1 PS. Until you learn to spell and construct sentences correctly, you`re unlikely to be taken seriously.

  • @pootom1 OK @Pootom, young man/lady. I have no desire to upset you, if you really are 12 (?!). This is stuff for grown ups. Its about biased media coverage, bullying by unmandated governments (know what that means?), by the police. Its about hypocrisy ( saying you will do one thing when you do the opposite). Its about something called "The Establishment "and how it always protects the rich and powerful. A man in a wheelchair was beaten by the police, the BBC tried to blame the wheelchair man. x

  • Oh hello Kevin, fancy seeing you here! And not looking a day older either :-) Love to all, The Tripps of Belgium xxx
