@XsnowpeaX The breeder will hear one singing, pull it out of the group, and keep it in a cage with the rest of the males. It takes awhile for the birds to be old enough to start singing (a year??). There is no way to tell my color, although you could maybe DNA sex one like the parrot breeders do. Even though all males sing, singing can be improved by exposing him to other singers to listen to. Find a good breeder in your area.

Aww, how lovely :D We don't know if our canary is a male or female, his song isn't very refined, but he still sings almost all the time. He has some of the rolling repetitive sounds of a good canary song, but he doesn't put it together very well xD He's still young though, so do you think that could be why?
