We probably would have lost anyway, but I think a lot of our third period problems in those games were directly related to Cam Ward's back injury, which kept him out of about 1/3 of the games the next year. He was really jurt in Game 1 of that series and tried to play through it. But Malkin was just a beast.

Parise is a great player and will probably win a Lady Bing one of these years. Might even be a Selke contender at some point.
I'd still take Staal over him in a draft, though.
the biggest case for Parise as a playoff choker is his much vaunted +/-. He is a +66 in the regular season over his career and a +1 in the playoffs.

Parise is much better defensively then Staal, Staal has only been a + in only one season and is known to be generally lazy on his defensive play. Parise's breakout season was last year and tied the amount of goals that Staal achieved in one season, and Parise is on pace for more points then Staal this season.
Zach is just as good the scorer as Staal is and on par with him offensively. So the category of defense easily goes to Parise so I'll take Parise over Staal any day of the week.

Interestingly enough Parise wasn't even playing on those teams, good thing to or they would've choked away those championships good ol canadians Brodeur, Niedermayer, Denayko helped bring to that pathetic franchise. If you actually checked, in most of the years Parise leads in scoring or is high up there, the problem is that the 3rd/4th line suck and the defense does terrible.
