  • AMAZING JOB!

  • I consider myself to be a die-hard doo wop and rhythm & blues affecionado ... but Julien's technical 4-track overdub results in a nice rendition. Keep it up ....

  • I've been listening to your stuff for quite a while but recently I've been listening to this one a lot.

Funny how I can find myself listening to this one moment, only to be listening to heavy metal a few minutes later.

  • @CommanderPT Haha! ;-)

  • You, take my breath away!

  • @JazzieBabe30 Thanks, I'm flattered and delighted you enjoyed my video! ;-)

  • AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! GENIUS! HAHAHA I LOVE IT!

  • @MAPG888 THANK YOU! SHARE IT? ;-)

  • only in 2011 can u make a barber shop quartet with yourself ... pretty amazing

  • @peace6311 Haha, thanks. Well, this isn't "barbershop", it's actually "doo wop". And I didn't invent this kind of 4 screen self-harmonization on YouTube, you'll find plenty of earlier videos from 2007 and before if you look. Search for "bordonthestreet" or "fineyleee" for instance, they've been around longer than I. Thanks for commenting. ;-)

  • It took me forever to see this video but you have a great voice and the fact you are more than able to pull off every different vocals in it is absolutely stunning! Keep it up

  • @LeyNOS13B Thank you! ;-)

  • What amazes me is the range in your voice. I could only wish to have such a wide range to sing the 4 parts adequately.

  • @grandplans Thanks. This song only ranges from G2 for the bass to around F4 for the tenor (from memory), so it's just 2 octaves, very reasonable for a baritone. Give it a shot, you'll see it's not that difficult. ;-)

  • This is amazing! Also a great choice of song! nice job

  • @Crandelo95 Thanks! Share this video with 5 people and you will become rich! No joke! ;-)

  • Great Upload :)

  • @nickums69 Thank you! Do share the video if you like it! ;-)

  • you and Bobby McFerrin should work together

  • @sallicio Haha, I wish! I actually met the guy when I was a kid, taking an audition as my local music center. He happened to be there that day and had been invited to part of the jury. Fortunately I had no idea who he was, and just remember he was a really nice guy who gave me lots of helpful and friendly feedback. ;-)

  • @trudbol lol..maybe he'll see this vid and read this thread. Then he'll contact you, yall will cut a demo, it'll go viral, yall will make a mint and be famous....

  • @sallicio Sounds like a plan! ;-)

  • I can't do it :(

  • Very Niiiice

  • @tehsnyder14 Thanks! ;-)

  • incredible

  • @bb4856 Thank you! There's more one man a cappella on my channel. ;-)

  • This brings back so many memories! I used to listen to it all the time last year during my student exchange. It made me smile every time, thank you : )

  • @3Annika7 Thanks, my pleasure! ;-)

  • we sang this 2 part with the boys in choir last year and i never thought of this being a barbershop quartet song

  • @theolandeo It's not barbershop, it's doo-wop. The harmonies aren't nearly as tight and dissonant as barbershop.

  • Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • @secrtstlr Thank you! ;-)

  • I wish I had your skill to make a acapella video like this

  • @pyrokidd561 Give it a try, you'll be surprised with the result. It's a ton of fun to make.

  • You've come quite a way in a little over a year, good Trudbol. Keep up the marvelous work!

  • @Veggieman87 Thank you! ;-)

  • Wow and I thought you were good in Oklahoma - this is good as well!

  • @PhillipTaBywater Thank you! ;-)

  • @PhillipTaBywater wow wow wow wow he was here in Oklahoma????? O.O!!

  • @ggglllllll I think was mentioning the musical "Oklahoma" (where the wind blows...). ;-)

  • I enjoy listening to this more than the original song :)

  • @hfbakery Wow, thanks! ;-)

  • J'adore! Celle-là c'est ma préférée! J'aime l'effet donné par le fait que ce soit la même voix

"l'histoire de la vie" dans Le Roi Lion serait une tuerie aussi

  • You have an incredible voice, and I like how you look at your 'band members' in your videos!

  • @trudbol did you use bassboost effect on the bass part or do you only use your raw voice with no effects?

  • @beboposaur I didn't boost the bass on this recording, since it's not very low (lowest note is a G2), but yes, I usually boost the bass on my recordings.

  • This takes serious skills oh my goodnesss you are so TALENTED!

  • YOUR LIKE REALLY GOOD DUDE

  • from 1:00 til 1:14 is my fave part

  • @trudbol You didn't understand my question?

  • @Naquan33 You didn't ask a a question, you said "sorry trudbol". I asked you what about.

  • @trudbol He first asked "Hey trudbul, I'm an aspiring singer and I'm seein your videos for the first time but i love them... They're very unique and you have a nice sound... I was wondering if you could help me put together a few videos so i can put them up on youtube... That's if you live on the east coast by philly, if not though maybe just a pointer or two would be cool...". The second time he said "Sorry, *trudbol", because he misspelled your username in his first comment.

  • @ihatecolereynolds Ah, thanks for the info. YouTube comment system is confusing, I have a hard time keeping up with so many threads at time... ;-)

  • Sorry, *trudbol...

  • @Naquan33 ?

  • Hey trudbul, I'm an aspiring singer and I'm seein your videos for the first time but i love them... They're very unique and you have a nice sound... I was wondering if you could help me put together a few videos so i can put them up on youtube... That's if you live on the east coast by philly, if not though maybe just a pointer or two would be cool...

  • @Naquan33 Just send me a private message telling me what you'd like to learn and what you already know, and we'll figure something out OK? Cheers

  • 5 people have no respect for the classics

  • 5 people are dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb be do be dumb

  • this is really good!

  • @jambalulu And it's on iTunes! ;-)

  • @trudbol I am a guy yes :) but I just LOVE your videos. They make so happy :) I've favorited most of them :D and I have no answer to you on the "mary me" sentence :L but keep up the good work, and can you please use twitter a little more often? :P I follow you and you don't tweet to often ;)

  • @MrKongssund Haha, tak! Yeah, i don't tweet much, I don't really know what to talk about to be honest, but I'll try... I'm more a let's grab a beer kind of guy. Kind of paradoxical for someone who makes digital music, but hey. ;-)

  • @trudbol just tweet about your toughts and how your day was, and stuff like that :P

  • I love all of your videos!! You're a GENIUS!!

  • Your voice is amazing! I am forming my own barbershop quartet and am wondering if I could get this arrangement for this song on sheet music. This song and the way you perform it is just astonishing! Amazing job!

  • @RandomSingingSnowman Thanks! I sell audio learning tracks for all the songs on my YouTube channel, including this one. Please send me an email to jneel@free.fr if you're interested. Cheers ;-)

  • Gosh I can't stop listening to your music! I absolutely LOVE Barbershop Quartet music! It makes me want to be a part of one, even though I'm a girl...=) Keep up the great work. Your songs always make me smile when I'm having a crappy day. <3

  • @katiegary Thank you for the kind words, I couldn't hope for a better compliment. ;-) My song is available for download now by the way, the link is in the video description. Thanks!

  • @katiegary

Just because you're a girl, that doesn't mean you can't sing barbershop. Look into joining your local chapter of the Sweet Adelines.

  • i wanna know how to play through ur nose :)

  • Your voice is fantastic, and all of your music makes me so happy. Never stop :)

  • Q. 'Earth Angel' is doo wop as presented by the Penguins; would you be able to create your version sometime, and let me know when it happens? Actually I sifted through numerous recordings of Earth Angel, from dismal to pretty, but unconvincing. The best rendition so far is by Tiny Tim (prefer his low voice).

  • Beach boys' original version is lovely too. You can trump easily trump their's by adding finger clicking and a chime. :) Try it sometime?

  • I like the Roommates version a lot. I like theirs and and also your rendition better than Dell Vikings', but there is four of them, and only one of you, so you have it over all of them 4:1

  • @stanibol Thank you, I'm flattered and glad you enjoy my video! It's interesting how singing a song that was made super popular by a given group means one has to face the comparison at some point, good or bad. I didn't try to reproduce the Dell Vikings render, I actually hadn't even hear their version when I got the sheet music, believe it or not. ;-)

  • @overbrookXXX It's strange though, because this isn't a barbershop arrangement, it's the original doo-wop arrangement. I am not a barbershop singer myself, living in France where this kind of music doesn't exist. I just picked up a few barbershop scores that I sang for fun, like I would any other TTBB sheet music. I don't claim any comparison with the Del Vikings, of course, I just feel you've made some strong remarks that you didn't really explain in order to help me improve my performance.

  • @overbrookXXX Soulless vs soulful vs spirited. Julien creates light-hearted fun which is notably up-beat. Extra visual effects not necessary here. The tune here is definitely not soulless. Soulful describes a particular mood, deeply moves emotions, roping in the heart. Some days we do not want our hearts messed with. Similarly "tiptoe through the tulips' is sung just for fun. Diamond / stone days: On stony days I ache for high-spirited or lighthearted, cheerful tunes. Thanks again Julien.

  • @trudbol Exactly right. "Never criticize someone unless you can, at the same time, offer a solution". (Another wonderful quote by the Dalai Lama)

  • @stanibol Haha, well yes and no. I mean for music, it's fine to say : "I didn't like it", without being able to pinpoint why or better yet how to solve the problem. An artistic impression is really subtle and subjective, and it's hard to give tips like "boost this frequency" or "improve this vowel an everything will get have more soul". It's still better to give negative feedback without a solution, but perhaps to say it with a little more delicacy I guess. ;-)

  • @trudbol re constructive criticism, I was only backing you up mate. Quoting your words 'I'm genuinely interested in a more detailed opinion. For instance, does it seem to you like I'm focusing more on being in pitch and in rhythm than telling a story? You see what I mean? Something useful and constructive to chew on.'

  • @stanibol Yes, I know, thanks. I was over-explaining my point about what overbrookXXX said. ;-)

  • Marry Me. Please. I sometimes dress up, I cook to a mediocre standard, I am at times quite organized, and I sneeze like a cat. But if aynthing - I appreciate good music. Ah, you mend my heart! And turn me into a sulky cow. hehe
