Awesome - I never thought of teaching them to swim so young. I don't know what is the cutest him swimming or the look of joy on your face. Lovely video!
i would actually really suggest a beach :).. i think it's a better experience for the dog, and they are not forced into the water and can go at their own pace. My Labrador learnt how to swim within seeing the water 4-5 times at my cottage which has a beach like shore.
but it's a good idea to teach a dog this if you live in an urban area without any water and another form of exercise.
Trust me, this puppy was never forced into the water! Some dogs (those not traditionally water breeds) would NEVER chose to discover how cool swimming is if you relied on they going in from the beach.
i've seen plenty of dogs do it :) .. from Pit Bull to Great Dane.. from learning to swim on their own at a beach. And they are not water dogs hehe :P. I guess you have point and all dogs are different :).
I agree...for some dogs taking the plunge from i-can-barely-tooooouch to swimming is a really big hurdle...this could really be a much gentler introduction for those dogs and take the conflict out of it...I am looking forward to trying this!
He's a natural! Both of mine took some time before they looked that good in the water. Actually, my coming two year old still paddles like a goon. lol
Very nice, safe way of introducing a pup to water

Border Collies are some of the most amazing dogs. That cute little puppy will grow up to be one smart, swift dog
