If I was chanced to ask Oscar Petersson one thing before he died, I would have asked him for his piano talent. You are really missed Oscar Petersson :(
This is a very nice piece & suitable for this unfortunate occasion; I was surprised to hear this as I recalled reading how Oscar was averse to Monk's musical stylings to the extent of choosing not to play his music. I was glad to have seen him in concert a couple of times in NY & Philly some years back; he left some big shoes to fill in the jazz world.
@Andreeeiiii Monk my very first teacher told me that he had a monk tape that literally sat on a book shelf for over 15 years before he listened to it and started to understand it. Mine sat in a box for 10 before I really started to grasp the concepts. Dont worry one day it will all come together.

Who does these arrangements, this takes me totally by surprize(?) It is very special, frilly and curt, deep blue and stagy all at once? Magistral

One of my all-time favorite jazz compositions by my all-time favorite jazz artist. What could be better. R.I.P. Oscar Peterson. You will be missed.

It's not by Oscar himself. It is by Thelonious Monk.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised- they were both supertalents. I don't see Oscar as an egomanic.
