  • i'd need something to boost my ipod volume- since it is made with the european volume restrictions IT PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!!!!

anyways............ does it do that as well? see all the amps i saw on the web, the specs dont mention anything about volume boosting. you can't imagine how low this ipod's volume is. if i were't using Monster Beats (in ear) in the bus i wouldn't even hear the music :|

  • Dont buy this

    I did disappointing

  • would this drive the ATH M50? Considerably better than an iTouch 4g?

  • @TheRunescapeDragon2 Actually iphone touch has lots of juice and ATH M50 has 32 ohm impedance, meaning the itouch would have enough power to juice it. Although I still recommend buying the fiio e5, because the m50 doesnt have lots of bass, hence the bass boost.

  • @TheRunescapeDragon2 Ipod touch* lol

  • This guy doesn't even on the E5. Idiot!

  • its like an ipod nano 6g :)

  • how will this match with the shure 535?

  • you should change your user name to Can't Read-Tugboat. You need speech therapy.. .You make the same sound as a tugboat... "Uhhh..Uhhhh... Uhhh"

  • Just to let you all know, I purchased the E5 and it increased the volume nicely but also balanced the sounds out better....I'm using Grado sr60i's and also Goldring NS-1000's for outside. I also a fortnight later purchased the Fiio L3 cable for my iPod, which means the amp is connected via the docking port to get the best sound, it has a massive effect and increased the volume alot too. So I'd highly recommend getting the Fiio E5 and L3 cable together.

  • E5... it's written in bold capital red characters...

  • i got a normal mp3 player (compareable with a ipod nano) and the AKG K518 headphones, would the E5 be useful?

  • @Spaeckli

wanna know the same. i have an ipod nano 2. gen. and the akg k518 le, too.

the k518 are nice and with good bass but a bit too quiet...

does anybody know if it would be useful to plug the e5 between the ipod and the k518?

    thanks

  • E5, stop saying E3 you twat!

  • E5 you twat!

  • Do you think this headphone amp will power a 250ohm beyerdynamic dt990 pro? But if you can recommend an amp that powers 250ohm's really well for under £100- What is it?

  • Hello, Wthat will happen if I connect this gadget to my speakers which are powered from AC?

  • newer call your self like that .. for my everything sounds good ..

  • jesus christ man ur so fast its like a blurr

  • one more thing the base boost did not work on the E5

    It did nothing

  • yes it does. your unit may be defective but on my e5 the bass boost definitely effects the sound. personally i don't use it, though, it just makes the music sound muddy to my ears.

  • sucks for u

  • @pikabko1

Its because you know nothing about audio and didn't research

what amp is good for your headset.

  • @pikabko1

Everything is made in China. Even Ipods lol

  • @sonofthedestroyer the US doesn't have the manufacturing technology to make anything anymore. we got too dependent on asia. so don't look for that to change anytime soon lol

  • lol you forgot to charge it up before recording the video!! XD

  • I may look in top it. my computer volume is rther weak. I use my external SEQ -50 its got a pre-amp then boost the volume ith the head sers. the problem is adding base boost its been a problem for me. so I may think about ordering it

  • kinca a cool idea for mp3 playsers and portaable game systems with low powered on Volume adn like to boost the o power. my head phones dosee the samething with Nice cancleing. however my had sets do not have base boost,. so this looks like a option I may look in to

  • its not an ipod idiot

  • love ur laugh man! u have the best laugh ever lol

  • Hey, really enjoy your review, especially your laughter. I just can't stop myself from laughing whenever I heard you laughing. Haha

  • folks! I have a pair of Grado SR80s, and I am a BASS WHORE!!! lol :) And I am wondering if these will do the trick!, I am getting nice bass, but I want REALLY DEEP BASS without too much clipping...

  • I'm using it to amp some in-ear headphones (the V-moda Bass Freq Earbuds) and I have to say there's not much difference with the bass boost on. But then again, those are tuned to give the maximum amount of bass possible from some 10 mm drivers, so I'm not sure they're the best phones to try the fiio on. The amp however can up the sound level so high it makes my earbuds insuferable to wear, without distorting much. However, I do get a discrete static noise when I turn the amp on. Cost me $10

  • @qqcolaman Shouldn't have bought the SR80s if your a bass whore lol

  • @rockgod2131 DT-770 all the way if you are a true basshead.

  • @rockgod2131 Fair enough, however the HP-170A Turntable with built in amp does the trick...

I also have a pair of GS1000s, so that did the trick ;)

  • @qqcolaman Ah the GS1000s. I'd love to get my hands on a pair. You are very lucky lol

  • hey jude you berk

  • lol @ the ohhhhi forgot to charge the e5... and u put this vid up =.= lol wth

i had a good laugh from the start hahaha thanks for the humourous laughs inbetween the vids haha

  • It's funny how you try to let us "listen" to the sound quality LOL.

  • you've got a v good voice mate! i'd just bought one from mp4nation having already bought one from elsewhere. i'm still testing it wondering if the e5 is only making things sound louder or does it give a real boost in performance. good review btw and again nice voice man!

  • haha e3 in the beginning its like when your petting a dog your calling it a horse, good review tho

  • ive got sennheiser HD555's - will this amp be decent?

  • yes it will i got one to use with my zune and i use it with my akg headphones but my friend has hd555 and it works pretty well the soundstage is more defined but there is a little bit of hissing nothing a impendence adapter wont fix

  • what was the source for the hd555? Was it your zune as well?

  • yeah and my zune uses lossless files very high bitrate whicth i think is a bit higher than apples aacbut it shouldnt make much difference

  • It does not have anything to do with the audio format. It has to do with the output on the zune along with the zunes built in amp.

  • yes but if you have a 98kb song it will hiss no matter what i no what your saying but at some point it makes a diifernce

  • BTW I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the zen. I have no idea as to how it compares to other portable audio players. I was just wondering. And yes poor quality audio files will result in anomalies. I was just saying that what I was talking about does not have to do with the audio quality.

Is there such thing as a line out dock for a zen?

  • you mean zune right??

  • Yes, sorry about that.

  • LOLOLOLOLOL

  • your zune does NOT support WMAL (WMA lossless) on the player itself. Only the software supports lossless, but when you sync, it gets transcoded into lossy format

Also, there's not really a need for a LOD because the zune's audio out is already pretty high quality in comparison to that of the ipod

  • thanks for your post. what impendence adapter would you reccomend?

  • ranucci your a fag! RELAX!

  • Woo, I ordered this and another amp from the head-direct site, hope it doesn't suck ass.

  • I have a silly question, can this little thing drive the Sennheiser HD650?

  • Yes E5 should be able to drive them, as it says they can drive up to 300 ohm headphones and HD650 has an impedance of 300ohm.

  • @Orangetree991 lol sry for responding to a year old comment, but the e5 can't drive the hd650. It's a very weak amp, and can't drive high impedence headphones, my 150ohm pc350 gets no benefit to it's sound when putting the e5 between it and my sound card. Don't be cheap, if you want a good amp for your expensive headphones, you should spend at least 100$, and i think that's the bare minimum.

  • @FirsToStrike LOL sorry for responding to a year old comment but which amp do you recommend?

  • you finally said its the E5 in the end....not E3...cant make out the difference in the sound much...only the loudness...but not the quality....the perils of recording through a camera

  • can i use it with cell phone? is it a good idea?

  • Yep, if ye have the right output it's a greeaat idea, 'cause headphone sound is bad

  • except that these little things pick up a lot of interference from the cell.

I am getting one of these to drive my hd555 with my ipod. Should sound great. Still need to find an LOD that does not cost too much money though

  • does it make headphones louder????

  • good review ill probly buy 1 i currently own a FiiO e3 if you look around you should only pay around $20

  • can i advertise for your company and get a free mp4 player???

    lol

    ;D

    kiddin

  • Nice video, thanks Raz !!
