@emc4okc It just seemed like the thing to do, so I used my ear. The song does sound a little bit different in standard tuning, though. (There are things you can't do unless you retune.)
@blueiis2 so you played the same finger positions as if it had been de tuned or you just play it by ear without regard to where the finger positions would have been on the de tuning--I can read music (thanks to my mother's piano lessons), but the whole de tuning concept escapes me as I too sometimes play by ear. Alas a new (not young by any means) fiddle player is what I am. I play in an orchestra (violin) that helps and I ordered your DVD. You have a great deal of talent!

@blueiis2 So you just play it without regard to the finger positions you'd use if it were detuned? The whole de tuning concept is foreign to me (I do read music & play violin in an orchestra) but I'm a beginning fiddle player--my real love. I do know how to play by ear, but just cold playing a song like that by ear and it not be de tuned--you have immense talent. i ordered your DVD and look forward to getting it and the follow-on one.
HELL YEA!!!! nothin like the fiddle to get my blood pumpin! awesome job!
