It is one of the best sitcoms of all time. I agree 100 percent, where today do you get this realism, natural humor and acting ability? Its like looking in the window of a real family, with real problems. Not this cookie-cutter nonsense we have nowadays. I love Roseanne for what she contributed to daily TV, women, having so many up and coming actors on her show throughout the years. She was the Genius, John goodman was incredible. Genius show.
It's also awesome that Roseanne had such natural acting abilities. Most comics really don't act, they just say their one-liners. Roseanne was brilliant at acting, and she could do comedy and drama with total realism.
I agree about this being the best sitcom of all time! It's really amazing how everything melded together so well: Acting, writing, humor and realism. It's not at all surprising that this show immediately skyrocketed to the top of the ratings (I think the country was yerning for something a little more real than the Cosby Show).
I really believe that Roseanne is a genius, b/c apparently she had a lot of creative control. A monumental cultural contribution!
I know it really shows what lower middle class families go through... and the problems are fixed in a longer period of time then 10 minutes... and they are fixed with more than a talk unlike family matters, the cosby show, and full house.
Best sitcom in the world. theyll never be another one like it. Roseanne and Dan have the best chemistry of all screen couples. atleast thats my opinion.
i never understood the finale... he doesn't really leave her, right? the last episode reveals that she was writing a story that whole time- but that dan died. is that what u meant by left?
Yeah, pretty much. In the last episode, she reveals that Dan died after his heart attack & the whole wacky last season was her attempt to cope. It just made me a little sad when Dan was talking about them retiring & sailing the ocean together, that they never got that chance.
yeah-- that's what i thought. i didn't like the last season... it was really odd. but ya know when she's recaping everyone's life in the last episode? she says stuff like darlene was actually with mark & david was with becky. & that her mom wasn't a lesbian- but jackie was... does that then make the whole show a lie? like... was the whole show a part of her "book..." if im making any sense! sorry- just curious--
I don't know how this happened, how it came together this well, but this show is the best sitcom of all time, including the classics, etc the acting, directing and the actors are brilliant and so natural and real it is just amazing, no matter how many times you watch them, they are just as wonderful as the first time you saw them. No show in TV history can touch this show.
Especially at camp. it gets so disgustingly hott in the top bunk. when i had the top bunk in camp, i always woke up sweating. ofcourse, the weather in Maryland is stupid. one day its 97 degrees with 94% humidity, and the next day its 76 degrees with 23% humidity, and thats not even a joke. in the winter it can be in the 60's, a couple days later its in the teens and 20's.
The greatest, most realistic sitcom about the family of all time.

The ending of this episode is especially poignant after seeing the finale. Dan does end up leaving her alone... *sniff*.

That's true, but the 'joe boxer' logo is supposed to be in the back.

Upper bunks SUCK, especially if you have to wake up and pee.

But the lookout point is much better and if the bed breaks you would be more likely to survive than the person underneath you.

Oh ok. If you insist you're right, then you must be. Apparently you haven't seen a 'joe boxer' shirt before.
