Two things: 1st: Elias was every bit the badass and survivor, AND leader as Barnes. Elias didn't "make it", only because of Barnes' treason. 2nd: Notice how the faggy Lt didn't have to check in on Elias? Lt Wolfe, as dumb as he was, realized he could afford to be lazy with the good leader Elias.
