Wow, really? Had no idea Kottke felt that way Watermelon. I've never heard him play it in concert, either (saw him twice in Memphis recently). This is probably my favorite song of that album! You did a great job with it, by the way!

hi christian das klingt richtig gut, der richtige gute kottke sound, respekt, larivee sind richtig gute gitarren ich hatte vor 2 jahren mal eine 12 saitige für 2 monate von einem freund geliehen, war begeistert, deine klingt aber irgendwie zumindest für kottke songs noch besser, all the stars und merry christmas ins hoffentlich sonnige california, hier herrscht das totale schneechaos, so long friedel

Sonnig ist es hier heute leider nicht sondern sehr regnerisch. Es soll bis Mittwoch dauern und dann soll es wieder schoen werden. Ich habe schon vom Schneechaos in Deutschland gelesen und auch mal auf die Webcams meiner Heimatstadt geschaut.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit der Larrivee. Ich habe sie mir eigentlich gekauft, weil meine Taylor zu gross war um sie bequem auf der Couch zu spielen. Ich glaube dass ich die ein wenig laenger behalten werde.

Hallo Christian, da ist dir dieser schöne LK- Titel gut gelungen. Ich habe mal gehört, der Titel sei eher ein Zufalssprodukt von Leo gewesen und eigentlich würde er den Titel nicht mögen, und deswegen höre man es auch nicht live. Mir gefiel er dafür und ich habe mich ja auch dran versucht, und mir gefällt auch deine Version. Schön!!

Tja, von dem Schnee in Deutschland wird hier auch viel in den Nachrichten gesprochen. Die Sierra Foothills in Kalifornien bekommen gerade viel Regen . Nicht gerade weihnachtlich dafuer aber reisefreundlicher.

Excellent work Christian. I've heard Leo say that he doesn't like this tune and doesn't play it any more; but I would sure like to hear how he would play it today, now that his style has "mellowed" a bit since the Armadillo album was released nearly 40 years ago.

Thanks, glad you liked it. I agree, it would be interesting to hear it now, 40 years later. I wonder if he would mellow it out. What I like about Watermelon is the controlled playing in the beginning, building up tension and then releasing it, letting loose like a belligerent drunk, no holds barred.

Thanks, Frank. You are right, I don't worry much about accuracy. I think the best version of Watermelon is by Michael Gulezian. I have heard him play it a couple of times at house concerts. It's different from the Kottke's original but al least as good.
