  • this is the best

  • Woody rocks!!

  • Rod should have stayed with the Faces!

  • Saw them Live twice great band , the memory lives on .

  • THE BOYS AT THEIR BEST.

  • 2 Dislikes...who new stumps could vote?..Damn! all I got to say is "Fuck yeah!"

  • @SEAMOKTactical I think it must have been a keystroke error!

  • best vocalist ever!

  • Rod was a rocker - From the Truth album w/JB through Faces. He went a little pop after; to bad. As distinctive rock voice like Paul Rodgers. And this was when Ronnie would play what he felt rather than to be a backup to Keef and try to fill MT lines (that he just isn't up to).

Great band, great sloppy rock sound.

  • @MrBluzhound ROD THE MOD?

  • "Some Kinda Wonderful"

  • Unbeatable. The best live band of all time. Love all of em.

  • pure no nonsense rock...classic shit!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RoxyChic394 your not alone !

  • Some kind of wonderful.

  • the "face" of pure kick ass classic rock . . . there will never be a better version of this or the Faces. Rock on!

  • Whiskey Weed and Some Face...why Not?

  • Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones, Ian 'Mac' McLagan. : )

  • Proof that only a small handful of bands were truely meant to be.

  • I am so glad there are clips like this still floating around. The Faces were so much better than Rod doing his solo thing.

  • @Razamabaz yup he completely lost direction after the Faces he may have had fame and money but betrayed his roots personally I lost all respect for him even to this day , and a Vegas residency was the final sell out.

  • @kew4612 I think the thing with Rod is...the money, fame and babes were more important to him than the music. Also, I have to say that it makes me sad that Ronnie Lane was left in relative poverty at the end of his life in Colorado. If know if I had been Rod with millions and 5 houses I would have made damn sure that didn't happen. I know Rod and Ronnie Lane and others sent him a few quid when they could.....but really.....

  • Good gutsy rock i love the driving sound certain bands get when u hear you know they got and tight.

  • tight as preverbial fkn drum .... for me the greatest live band ever !!! had many a piss up at there gigs sppecially glasgow n liverpool .........R.I.P Plonk............oh by the way Mick Hucknell .......the band is far too big for you .........fk off back to mancland where u belong!!!!

  • The Faces were SO Freakin great. Sure do miss them playing together.

  • great kick u in the balls stuff from the legends that are The Faces !!!!!

  • pure class

  • leave the guy be. he did his thing, enjoy it bro. he's almost 70. whatever kind of music he does at least he's never stale

  • Everyone seemed so skinny (or maybe normal) in the 70's...what an era!!

  • hard work makes it look easy. what a band.

  • Rock & Glamour = Faces

  • So great - thank God some of us were around to live through these years.

  • The same reason all lead singers branch out on their own.....MONEY!!!!

  • Rod is just a midget jockney crooner... the faces rocked then and now why he left i will never work out.

  • Man, these f'-ers could rock!

  • The Faces are one of the Best Rock Bands. They are screamin' with talent - they are quite the joy to listen and watch.

  • Rock and fuckin' roll!!!!

  • fuckin excellant 1!!!! better than all that american songbook bollocks !!!!!

I had the privilage of seein THE FACES a few times in the 70s what a band !!!!

  • Yeaaaa....now thats rock and roll baby..Rockin Rod Stewart...and his faces...what a grooooove

  • 33 Years old and this music is the right stuff. Three button hand me down is still cool and that is that.

  • Ronnie Lane is a talented bassist, whatever became of Ronnie Wood? and kenny Jones? just kidding-----ian Mcglaglen stole keith moons ex wife

  • @culls33 wait, are you kidding or not? i don't know about kenny jones, but ronnie wood is playing with the rolling stones to this day ;u;

  • How more basic and heart-thumping can you get ?

    -mby

  • Yeah,REAL Music

  • @plwblj Thats right....jump up and down bar music

  • What a gr.rock voice;

    is that Ronnie Wood?

  • @plwblj Rod Stewart

  • @plwblj Yes.

  • What a gr.rock voice

  • would you call them the old faces now? lol great band for sure

  • true bar room rock n roll

  • "I love the hell out of Oklahoma"

  • the black crowes loved these guys and humble pie....steve marriot .legend

  • Now you can see how the Black Crowes, was formed. The Faces were awesome!

  • brilliant stuff

  • Why would anyone give this a thumbs down?

  • This is so good, it defies comment. WHAT a fecking band. RIP Ronnie.

  • howd rod get that rasp in his voice?

  • @timeinyourshoes Don't know but it always sounds good!

  • @timeinyourshoes Born with it.

  • @timeinyourshoes That rasp was a great gift wasn't it? But his spirit (like so many greats) is what made us jump-THAT and the company he kept I mean wow-btw I like raspy too -it's why I love roger taylor's w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l sound (queen-the cross) I mean you could HEAR him over Freddie at times! THAT is belting it out ....nj

  • I actually first heard this song back in the 90s from the Black Crowes, on some of their bootlegs in circulation at the time. Soon after I realized just how damn similar Chris Robinson's stage persona was like Stewart's from the Faces era. Not to dis the Crowes, but seriously: watch some videos of the Black Crowes circa '91 and compare Robinson's hair, wardrobe, and the mic stand moves to Stewart '71.

  • @geezerbill ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Can't fault Chris Robinson for taste, but definitely Stewart has got to be his biggest stage influence.

  • still the same Small Faces minus the Legend and plus Rod Stewart, albeit 3 years later. And Kids, when I was growing up in the 1960's and 1970's pop music changed so fast. Even on a monthly basis. I still listen to Radio 1, and I love Chris Moyles. And get annoyed later on in the day as I want to hear new music. Not just chat.

  • this is ROCK and its ROLLIN!

  • Ian McLagan. Let's here it for the Irish!!!

  • FANTASTIC!

  • ....some bass line 'eh....

  • this was rock chart at its best in the 70s shame we have nothing that comes close to this now

  • Same year I was born, it´s so stylish! I like it a lot!

  • Time Rod got back to doing what he does best, rather than this American Songbook stuff.

  • @100aljc too right mate, it's so sad that rod ponces around now, he was a terrific singer and writer too.

    and that band? fuckin tops

  • go faces! go ronnie!

  • SIIIII ESTO ES ROCANROLL

  • Throw the hand mike, ear piece away ! Grab the D%$@ mike stand, and get it on ! Throw Down Baby, Get it the H@## On ! Have Mercy and let The Good Times Roll Sweet Ma Ma ! Best Damn Rock and Roll Band Ever ! This is the Real Deal !

    ShadowNglasS

  • amazing...

  • the two people that hate this must love justin bieber

  • seen them in 71 brilliant ! proper solid rock n roll

  • PURE ROD/ PURE FACES / PURE ROCK N' ROLL !!!! IT DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.... RONNIE ''PLONK'' THUMPIN' THAT BASS....WOODIE WITH THAT GREAT ''GRUNTY' GUIT' WORK.....DAMN, I MISS THIS GUYS!!!

  • siii!!

  • siiiiiii

  • super .... best line up ever !!!!!

  • Now this is real music, why has the majority of the world lost all taste in good music :|

74,000 odd views out of a possible 6 billion is just disgraceful.

If I ever meet a beautiful girl who likes this kind of music, I will hold on to her and never let go.

  • @a7xdude87 - Some of us women do actually love good music and seek it out. So glad I found this. Back in the days when Rod was cool. Helen x ps...Lovely comment.

  • @a7xdude87 How his it a possible 6 billion? You forget about the billions who don't have internet access.

  • @LordHillaryJoice I was just exaggerating for effect. A possible 3 billion is still pretty saddening.

  • @a7xdude87 Damn right it is :(

  • This is the stuff I grew up on...God, it's sooo good!!! Glad to see some of you out there still keep the classics alive. There's talk of a Faces reunion....won't miss that for anything!!! Watch & listen to all of the classic stuff that you an get your hands on!! It was here once, maybe we can resurrect it again!!! ----Peace.

  • Outside of Paul, Ronnie Lane is absolutely my bass playing mentor. Rest in peace, Ronnie. And I'd give a leg to jam with Kenny Jones.

  • Outside of Paul, Ronnie Lane is absolutely my bass playing mentor. Rest in peace, Ronnie.

  • Remember the 70's rumor mills? Rod's stomach had to pumped before a show because he had a gallon of cum in there/ lol or people booing mark farner at MSG & mark yelling "if there's a better guitar player in the house " and eric clapton walking up?? How do these stupid things get started??.Or about The Helacopters being the best " PURE ROCK band on the "oo's OH!!! They were!!!

  • were these guy's locked in?...oh yeah!...The Black Crowes can only dream of ever sounding close to the "Faces"!

  • Only 69,113 people in the entire world, care to watch this video.

Well, at least we're among friends.

    Hats off to ya.

  • @sickboytodd

well, views are up to 69,967 in only 3 days, so maybe it is catching on and there is "Hope." Hats off to ya too.

  • Absolutely filthy. This BBC 71 taping is truly one of the best performances, front to back, in the history of rock, and thats not an exaggeration. If you showed this to some 17 year old today who has grown up on Fall Out Boy and Plain White T's, they wouldnt know whether to shit, go blind, or rip their clothes off.

  • @jamiesjewels1 Couldn't agree more! I collect rare live performances by rock greats like Hendrix, Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, etc... Never seen anything out groove this. The tone and groove Ronnie Lane is laying done here is ridiculous... This performance is just so incredibly tight musically. I think each song on this performance are the best of each respectively. "Maybe I'm Amazed"- best version ever- including any Sir Paul versions. And I say that being his biggest fan. Just exceptional.!

  • @jamiesjewels1 Yep. It's really sad nothing like this will, or even could, ever happen again.... It's unfortunate, but we live in the worst time- pop music speaking- ever...

  • Real Rock-n-Roll indeed---modern rock bands should take the cue and see how it's done!!

  • Plonk looks great in his white suit! (and man, could he play some fine bass)

  • @MrWoof86 you re right, and I now get it after all these years, thankyou for taking the time to comment. To me the Faces were a gang that broke and any break up of something good is going to leave a wake of sadness. I really miss that whole vibe they exuded that was uniquely English from the music down to the way they dressed - with such sartorial excellence. After Ronnie joined the Stones he got into wearing oversized sneakers, and Rod became androgenous and a women's gossip magazine icon.

  • Awesome to see the boys again. I saw them play in an old theater in Detroit in 1971. Rod invited me backstage when I asked for an autograph and had all the fellows sign the album cover I had. Best concert I ever saw....lots of Martell Brandy going around and great music!

  • Nice audio, it's great to hear Ronnie's bass on the same level as the guitar. What a great band! Cool post.

  • will never understand why this lineup didn't stay together, Rod lost it after going to the US, lost his identity and the best band he ever had. This is Faces at their best. Wish I'd been old enough to see it. heartbreaking when you compare the Rod Stewart of now to this, add Ronnie Wood to that. Booze and ego I guess.

  • come back rod. please you have enough $ to feed your pathetic kids.. we forgive u for making crap music...forgot the wife,KIDS. BE LIKE MICK AND KEEF. DO IT ROD......

  • One of the greatest voices in rock in that years: Jimmy Page wanted him for The New Yardbirds (Then Zeppelin).

  • The bass is a custom one from Brittan, if I remember correctly...Zematus or something similar. I believe that Ron is playing one of those guitars, as well.

  • What is that bass he's playing?

  • @topperf - That's a Zemaitis. Ron Wood is playing a Zemaitis guitar as well. Custom made instruments. Look up Zemaitis on Google and enjoy.

  • @kynoceph Thank you, I will.

  • I saw them after Ronnie Lane had left and before Ron Wood left in Evansville, In. At Mesker Music Ampitheater in August of '75. As usual, they were late, stoned, and drunk. And as usual, Brilliant.

  • Saw Rod and The Faces at the Greyhound Pub Croydon (South London) in 1970. It was a Sunday night gig as I remember. The band showed up about an hour late but it was worth the wait. Good fun, knock-around rock 'n roll - and they could really play. A really great band although I have to say the old Small Faces with Steve Marriott fronting were far far far superior - and I saw them live too back in '68.

  • That Bass is soooooo Fat! Sweet playin' Ronald.

    Awesome group!

  • Saw the Faces back in 1972 in Buffalo, NY and they came on stage with joints hanging out of their mouths with bottle of cognac that they were drinking straight.

There music was fantastic and the show was one of the most memorable I have ever seen.

  • So This one of Black Crowes Influences. They Certainly sound like them!

  • Absolutely love this song. Is it me, or did Grand Funk steal the music, especially the bass line, for their song " Some Kind of Wonderful"?? (just put in the words "Three Button Hand Me Down" in place of "Some Kind of Wonderful" or vice-versa ) Just a thought.

  • @MUNJAK5 EXATCLY!

that song sounds exatcly "some kind of wonderful"!

  • @luancoelho

Ah Thanks! I knew it was something along those lines! That was really bugging me.

  • They had it all going on the organ, Rod's raspy voice those heavy duty basslines and a ever present fascination with rock and blues!

  • that bass sounds so fat! unreal!

  • rappers/crappers/hipflop beebops take note, this is the real deal .oh ya and rap is crap!

  • Criminally under-rated! Whichever jokers voted for Oasis as the best ever British band should be tied to a chair and made to watch this on repeat. The Faces had the right to swagger about because they WERE the greatest British rock n roll band. The Stones knew it too, why do you think they stole away Ronnie Wood?

  • @westoneconcord They voted OASIS best-ever Brit band???!!?? Whaaa....the f@#k were they thinkin?? Chrissakes!! Oasis couldnt carry Ronnie' s ball sweat in a bucket...

  • @westoneconcord I'm sorry but Free is the best "British band" ever.

  • Glen Matlock played the bass on this song for his audition to join what would become the Sex Pistols lol

  • Such a classic.

  • This is like fine wine. Actually, fine wine does not even begin to compare...

  • What ludwig said.

  • Brilliant Rock n Roll with a swagger...The Faces at their zenith

  • "Others may come and others may go but that suit will be around wherever you go...". Amen.

  • Great post. Great BAND! Why is British TV....and British Rock n' Roll...So much better than "ours" in the States?

  • They don't make music like this anymore. Time to bring it back

  • excellent

  • Ronnie Lane - pure magic!

  • Another good-time, rollicking number from the Faces. Very nice...

  • Don't get much better than this

  • the sex pistols used do this in their rehersals

  • Gawd, Ronnie is like he's just droppin' bombs from his fretboard, aint he?!

  • How about that nasty rhythm guitar, yeah! Go Ronnie! Great sound.

  • This song is so great!!! I love watching this particular show. Haven't seen it for a while on VH1 classic. Wonder what is up with that?

  • BBC Crown Jewels. great show!

  • Man their sound is the sound of any old time boozer! christ I spent most of my teenage years watchin bands play from the gut in smoke filled tap rooms!

  • They had the BEST sound!

  • this is music at it's finest. Far surpasses music of the noughties

  • This is ROCK N ROLL!!

  • @ludwig26 Yhea!!!!

  • @ludwig26 at its best striped down and raw.

  • Love this song!

  • awesome stuff...fab bass

  • Yes and he then replaced Andy Fraser in FREE and played bass on the classic 'Heartbreaker' album. Tetsu not playing on this clip though

  • oops did I insult the late great Ronnie Laine?? is Tetsu the good looking oriental guy who played in the FACES.

  • check out Pool Hall Richard (top of the pops bbc) but so far can't find it...some have been deleted for legal reasons....The faces were ACE ACE ACE...When Ronnie goes up to the guy with beard to do a wee jig, he's not having it!! they always looked they were having fun..Thanks for posting!!

  • @soundsarama I LOVE pool hall richard i've been searching for ages to find it i dunno why it's not on here!!??

  • Superb, hark at Plonks dirty filthy bass sound and Ronnies chugging guitar

  • Seriously, This is Freaking Unbelievable. WOW...

  • I saw this show on VH1 Classic. It was some re-run of a show called "Sounds from Saturday Night." Does anyone have the whole set-list? They did an Ike & Tina cover that was straight up out of this world.

  • It's called Too much woman.. it's on here a few times! I agree, an absolutely unreal cover. The Faces could have been the greatest of all time.

  • If this was released on DVD in High Def ...I'd pay any price!!!! Rod and the Faces at their BEST!!!!!!!!!

  • This is brill - The Faces at almost thier best! Brill Bass from Tetsu and Woody and Mac could've jammed together a bit more - Also cool drumming from kenny! Rod's voice is superb here - again, Just wish they'd really totally blew themselves off the stage here as they did in December 1975 with Keith :)

  • It's Ronnie Lane on bass.

  • Comment removed

  • please help!!! i really want the bass tabs for this song and cant understand why i cant find them anywhere!!!!! someone must know, its awesome.........

  • Um - why don't you just memorise the bass part and learn to play it by ear?

  • i am only a beginner so am just starting out on tabs at the moment, memorising and playing by ear is a bit out of my league at the mo.

  • Comment removed

  • I've got this gig on a bootleg somewhere...does anybody knows if it's available on dvd?

    great, great, great stuff!

  • do you think you could send me a copy of that?

  • jmanmango , naaa u cant forget steve marriott m8 thats the only reason rods here because steves not , rods like a poor mans steve marriott ..............this is still a great though even with rod , love it , but it could of been so much better with steve

  • yep you're right, you can't forget Marriott

Much respect to The Faces but Small Faces with lil Stevie are just mesmerizing. Dare I say the coolest band of the 60's.

  • かっこええ!!
