@rafenater9 He's 8 now... quick doing free style and really got into BMX racing. It really depends on what your budget is. But one of the biggest brands in BMX racing is "HYPER". The owner of Hyper just made a GREAT BIKE that he is marketing at WAL-MART!! YES, WAL-MART for $99.00. His idea is to attract more racers, but let me tell you, it's the SAME QUALITY BIKE that we pay DEARLY for in the race world. It's light-weight, geared for speed, but easy to handle.

@rafenater9 Nah, he never really got much better... though there is an indoor park I took him to last year near our house. He was trying to do a 360, but only got a 180... then he wanted to do a backflip, but couldn't do it, so he jumped off the bike, in the air, and did a flip instead. I posted video of it. Check my other posts. The inexpensive Hyper only comes in a 20". That's probably about right. An 18" would be ideal, but he'll outgrow it soon, I would guess.

@SuperJake228 This bike was a VFR Dyno, we actually still have it hanging in the garage. It still kicks around and he beat the crap out of it until he was 4 and got into BMX Racing. He's got a MirraCo Blend 16" now, but I think he's just about outgrown it. A 20" is too big, and 16" too small. Mirraco makes a really lightweight 18" Blend. May have to look into that.

@celiathescot It's was a 12" VFR Dyno. I'm not sure they still make them, but new it was approximately $150.00 I would recommend a MirraCo Blend 16" or 18" today. It's about the lightest BMX bike you can get. Also, check out Danscomp dot com and look for 16" bikes. Intense, Supercross, FitBikeCo and Hyper. HYPER just released a 20" bike for $99.00 they are marketing at Wal-Mart. HYPER doesn't make JUNK!... many of the pro Freestyle BMX and BMX racers have been riding hypers for years.
