There must be something i'm just not seeing that everyone else is. I get that Robinson was phenomenal in his time and was a pioneer so he gains my full respect for that but compared to modern elite fighters he looks kind of slow and sloppy. I think the sport has evolved a great deal since his time and i believe Robinson is overrated a great deal by most people and is not the best p4p of all time, a great fighter though and he would be very competitive in any era.

Sugar Ray and Willie Pep actually fought each other when they were Juniors and even then Sugar Ray Robinson won. In fact Sugar never lost a Amateur Fight whereas Willie Pep did. This doesn't take anything from Willie Pep though. He is one of the greatest fighters in Boxing History. Sugar Ray Skill and Punching gets my vote.
@babababanananana Old school technique was actually much better. There is a reason why some of the best technicians today such as Benard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather are considered throwbacks. Look up a video on here with Charley Burley called anylizing genius. It explains the oldschool style its simularities to that of Benard Hopkins and what was the norm at the time.

I am not sure about being more brave then the other two that you mentioned, but he sure was talentefd in defensive fighting and how to get out of tight angles, etc etc.
Sugar Ray and Willie Pep actually fought each other when they were Juniors and even then Sugar Ray Robinson won. In fact Sugar never lost a Amateur Fight whereas Willie Pep did. This doesn't take anything from Willie Pep though. He is one of the greatest fighters in Boxing History. Sugar Ray Skill and Punching gets my vote.

Look up a video on here with Charley Burley called anylizing genius. It explains the oldschool style its simularities to that of Benard Hopkins and what was the norm at the time.

Also referees didn't step in as quick as they did today (1940's and 1950's) in professional boxing like they do today. Thats why there were more Ring wars back then. These added onzes save your hands due to the extra padding that is provided within the gloves. Floyd has already mentioned he has problems with his hands with the 10oz gloves. Just think if he had to use 6oz gloves.

Yet you say Floyd's defense is amazing,its nothing compared to greats like Ali,Pernell Whitaker,and Willie Pep. I've seen better,im not taking anything away from Floyd. Hes a good fighter and all. @THISISLolesh Uhm my dude go read a little about Floyd lolz,he learned his style from Pernell Whitaker. The only difference between the 2 Floyd blocks most punches,Pernell taunted his opponents by dodging all of there punches and sometimes sticking the tongue out at them.Floyds defense was never better then theres im sorry lol. They fought much harder competition then Floyd has ever fought in his whole crappy career.Hagler was only stunned,watch the fight my dude.

@Felixg1979 - As good as Floyd Defence is. He is not the best Defensive fighter. Willie Pep is the man...He really is.. THere is a documentary on the man hre on You Tunbe. Please have a watch of this and then you will see. He actually won a Round without throwing a punch or never being hit in that same round to prove how elusive and quick he was....
His defense was that good.

@MrMines83 -Yeah Willie Pep was a better defensive boxer then Floyd Mayweather - so was Sweet Pea! But Willie Pep was the best of the lot.....

@Felixg1979 i agree with you when you say willie pep has great defense, but ali? his deffense was ALLRIGHT but great? i mean common the only deffense he had was his ellusive foot work and head movement. his blocking was not great, only when he did the rope a dope, his hands were too low most of the time.
