Simply put, the gravel glitch he talks about around 20:00 is a mechanic of gravity-affected blocks. When they land on something that cannot have a block built on it or be displaced, such as a torch or lever, the block will destroy itself, dropping the resource as though mined. Sadly, this cannot be exploited to allow quick mining of flint from stacks of gravel, because the destroyed gravel always drops gravel this way.

the advanced ai will come out in 1.2 and is currently out in the pre-release, get it by going to the minecraft forums and look for somthing that says somthing like weekly snap shot it out! and download it then replace it with you current minecraft.jar
