@patttyflipper70 The common strategy is too stasis it then and shoot it in the back with something like a pulse rifle or a line gun. Or you can just try to shoot it's limbs off, but that usually takes forever because of it's armor. Hammond tells you to shoot it in the back when you first encounter one.

I understand that it's to make the death look brutal, but it kinda contradicts the way necromorphs act doesn't it? I thought the necromorphs are supposed to kill and preserve the body so it can be reanimated, instead of ripping it apart. Guess he's pissed off at Isaac. =/

Also, the Hive Mind may give them general orders but the individuals may excercise descretion in various situations. For example: The Brute may recieve orders to kill Issac but if Issac hurts it, it knows to run away. I don't think they are like mindless zombies. In the movie they showed them gathering the pieces of bodies.
