@Buttercuppp311 You totally can, especially if you're playing with a sparse sort of arrangement. I tend to do arpeggios on the left hand in whatever chord the right hand is doing, but you could try something else. Another thing that is sometimes cool is to move all the playing action up a couple octaves, and play your right and left hands very close to each other, like, one octave apart. Makes it all whimsical and creepy.

Not exactly. If you want to pick up a guitar, you could probably get away with it, though. On guitars - for some reason - the chord isn't as important as it is on the piano, provided you're singing the melody properly over it. My theory is that in strummy guitar songs, the instrument is more important texturally and rhythmically than it is tonally, where in piano, tone is kind of all you've got.
