I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Good sd1's getting hard to find and pricey. Rebuilt this one over 18 mths 75% new. Had a few mg maestros myself ,loved then and easy to maintain!!! Panels scarce though.
Oh theres a few out there but mainly requiring work! Theres a few nice ones too. Think most owners just locked them in garages as theres quite a few popping up now.
Fair play to ya.... job well done... im looking around for an sd1 at the moment and if i manage to find 1, would love it to sound like yours..... show the local boy racers how a real engine sounds!!!
Cheers. All home made 2" st. st. twin straight though .First silencers in lines made by myself and tails are 2 1/2" cherry bomb with rolled tails. These were put on purely to lower the tone and reduce noise when cruising.

I often wonder if the Jag V12 would have fitted in the engine bay of these. Of course, BL would never have allowed it, even if it did.

Where do you still find these cars? They became virtually extinct by the mid 90's.
